Got one similar. During Autumn/Winter it doesn't see use. Spring/Summer I clean up except for a goat-tee and sure enjoy that razor. It's very nice.
You leaving Alaska?but have sold most of it off before the big move
Then you're not doing it right...Ex-wives. Thankfully, I don't have to find storage space for them.

The majority of them are Agaves (century plants) and there are a few Aloes also as well as prickly pears, echinopsis, trichocereus, barrels and other varieties mixed in. When I moved here 3 years ago there was not one plant in the yard! Each and every one of these are my kids that I planted and tend to all year round. Some I bought and some I brought with me from my former home when I moved. A few have grown from cuttings or pups (babies) that other people have given me.
I'm not the best at posting pics on this site but I'll try again later when husband gets home so he can help me and see if I can post better and larger pictures so you can see them in more detail. Is there a specific one plant you are curious about or want to know the name of?
Oh....love the fact you collect books. It is awesome to see there are still people who read! I have two book cases in my 'office' at home and still like to buy books on occasion but nothing like the collection you have. Your collection is quite impressive and I'm envious (in a good way). Do you have a favorite genre or author or just read everything of interest?
That's an excellent list of choices. I'm kind of the same way. I'll read about anything if the topic interests me or the title grabs my attention or somebody recommends it. I'm a fan of Margaret Atwood , Douglas Coupland, James Clavell and I loved Poe and Shakespeare in high school and nobody had to force me to read it. I still do and have the complete works of both. I like the short stories of Anton Chekov (Of Russia not Star Trek ) like, "The Bet" and "The Cherry Tree" but have no patience with Dostoyevsky. I read a lot of historical stuff both non fiction and biographies as well as historical fiction like Victoria Holt and Norah Lofts. Love anything that has to do with ancient cultures and social anthropology. Like things about nature and animals. Will read a lot on politics. Appreciate more and more a good comedy or drama. I don't mind reading some stuff on medicine but not into the uber heavy, dry Science medical stuff and not at all into Sci-Fi or Urban Fantasy.
If something interest me and I think it would be useful to know or a really 'cool' talent to have, I'll get a book on it. I make it a point to always be learning something. So I have a ton of "How To/Teach Yourself" books. Will say I've learned how to do a lot of cool things if my yard is any indication and my kitchen is just as crazy. Keeps me busy and out of trouble and off the streets. And of course not above reading a novel for pure entertainment value or just flipping through a magazine for fun.
@Andria, I worked for an old boy that had it all summed up in one sentence.

Since we're on the topic of books, here's one for you. I picked it up in 2011 and got a lot of use from it. It is called, "Is This Thing On? " A Friendly Guide To Everything Digital for Newbies, Technophobes, and the Kicking & Screaming by Abby Stokes.
It even comes with pictures. Maybe they'll come out with a 4th edition (the 3rd was in 2015) and I'll buy it along with a new cell phone because then I'll know how to work it. I won't buy a more sophisticated phone yet because it seems they keep updating them every other minute. I figured I'd wait for awhile until that slows down or stops. I hate wasting money for paperweights. So my phone is antiquated but it is a phone and works just fine to talk on. YEP, saying it loud and proud.....I 'talk' on my telephone and 'type' on my computer.
I don't mind texting but I just don't 'get it'. My old person (49) logic kind of goes: If nobody is supposed to hear my conversation and I have to 'type' on my phone to keep it private, then I am obviously someplace I ought not to be using my phone in the first place. Also why would I want to have private type/text conversations in a room full of people? I mean if I want privacy I should not be having a conversation or using my phone around others prying eyes and ears in the first place. I ought to wait until I am alone----in private. If that's the case then I can talk freely because I'm in private. I don't need to text/type. Right? I dunno. Just my thinking.
The thing that cracks me up now days, and I have to admit disturbs me a bit, is seeing a whole group of people sitting face to face at a table or a couple walking side by side and NOBODY is talking or looking at each other. They're all texting each other! Wow! Does nobody 'talk' anymore or am I just that old and out of it?
I'm a phone Junkie.Mobile phones provide excellent examples -- like so many "older" people, I've been very resistant to this new "txt-speak"... I think it's bastardizing the language and encouraging low literacy levels. But within 6 wks of getting a mobile phone and being able to send txt msgs, I found myself txting crap like "b4" and "2u". Would I type shit like that in the forum? No, because I use a PC with a keyboard... but if I was visiting the forum from a mobile phone? Well, I might.

Nope I eat em unless they are pretty bad as some of them are then I toss em.Cromwell collects fruitcakes from those who don't like them.
Same here, I got my 1st PC in 1989 as well. I use my PC hardware antiquities for collecting most of the dust particles that I mentioned earlier in the thread... I also have a smartphone, but swiping on the touchscreen is removing the dust so I don't use it that often.-- I've been a PC geek since 1989,

Goon repellant. Sounds like it could be a good choice of name for my DIY juice recipe I had in mind...My PC is most of my entertainment, and ALL of my "social life"... the smartphone, eh, it's handy, but I usually go hours at a stretch without even looking at it -- I mainly got it so I could always have reading material no matter where I go, and not have to lug a book or 6 with me. I was really resistant to the whole idea of ebooks... till I actually tried it out, and immediately felt like "where has this been, all my life!" The ability to change the font, the font size, the lighting/coloring, not need ambient light at all, absolutely a godsend.
But I also like the smartphone because it has much better "goon repellant" than a regular home phone does -- if I don't recognize the number, on either, I don't answer it, but the smartphone has the ability to block all incoming solicitors and bill collectors -- priceless! And the immediate ability to reverse-lookup numbers, also priceless.

I'm a phone Junkie.
Mainly because I'm a Gadget freak, always have been. I used to be a theemer in the Android world until they started locking the code down so tight.
But I still don't talk txt, aside from emoji and the occasional LOL
It's an obsession, now that I quit smoking and started vaping you can guess where the obsession has moved. I've been bitten by the vape mod bug. I believe it's called Shinyitis.

Hi Andrea.
Got just a moment before I have to run. As for the Aloe. It is inside in a cold garage (despite heater) during peak flowering time. It needs, if possible, to be taken indoors where it is warm and put in the full sun. It won't turn that white color on you (It's way of saying 'I'm cold.') and it will surely wake up and bloom for you. Is there anyway you can make that an indoor house plant this time of year? They work beautifully indoors as house plants. You can still put it outside in the spring/summer if you so desire.
Also a bit cramped in that pot. Needs a bigger pot. The roots could be getting wrapped around and damaged. If you don't want to repot it , you can leave the main plant in the pot and pull out and separate the other plant and off shoots (pups) without any harm to mom what so ever and start them in pots of their own. If you plant them/pot them close by each other, they will eventually cross pollinate and create more blooms.
As for the Rosemary, same thing. That takes super bright light and lots and lots of heat. We grow that outdoors here in our yards as a shrub. It thrives in our summer heat of 118+ ! It is probably freezing its little plant ass off in the garage. Nice sunny kitchen counter or window sill would be a great spot.
Gotta go.
Have a great day.

Grey hairs.
I know what I look like. I got up this morning and went to the mirror and went, "Whoa! HOLY SHIT! Like, whose grey hair is that??? My hair wasn't that grey before---- was it?"
It seemed like I just did my hair not too long ago and now the greys are back with a vengeance and they were kind enough to bring a whole bunch of new ones with them. Fuck middle age and this menopause thing .
Wasted a perfectly beautiful afternoon sitting inside because I had to color my hair sooner then expected. Oh well, at least on the bright side I still weigh the same and wear the same size I have for the last 9 years.
Oh we got that hormone thing all figured out!
It only took me having a few major hot flashes and some night sweats before I said, "Screw this!" and ran screaming for some Bioidentical HRT ( that's hormone replacement therapy----for the gentlemen who may not have known that.)
Now I'm cool, dry, and comfortable. I'm also no longer a moody, crying, raving lunachick. (Just a regular one ).
Did lots and lots and lots of research on them. Glad I started them. I'm not proud. Why suffer when there was no need to?
Even husband said the HRT has made a 180 degree difference in me in regards to energy, mood, stopped all unpleasant physical symptoms, etc. I was a good candidate health wise for the treatment so I pursued it. Glad I did because it has turned out to be the best money and time I ever invested in myself.
I'm originally from Hilo, HI. Big island is one of the nicer islands. I collect pogs as well as random knick knacks. Since I work as an automobile dismantler for a large recycling company I come across lots of things in cars that the previous owners left behind.Heading to the Big Island
Ticket stubbs from all the movies ive seen in the cinema. Ive got some going back 10 years.
I've seem to have collected nothing but germs this last week.
Been sick and miserable with a wonky stomach and a nose that runs like a fire hose. I'll spare you the other details as they're not pretty. Living off of tea, water, and soup and toast.
And you think I'd lose a pound...........nope.
Would those with children do me and others a favor? Don't take it personally but PLEASE do not bring your children around us or into our homes when they are sick.
My neighbor came to visit me. Normally I don't mind, but she IS a bored housewife (I won't call her a 'home maker' as I've seen the inside of her house ) Despite the fact I was busy, I didn't want to be rude. She also had her little boy (18 months) with her and I didn't know if they needed something or if it was important. Nope. She just stopped by to bullshit. In the meantime the kid is running around touching everything in the house and I'm running around trying to catch him. I finally grabbed him and picked him up. That's when the heifer goes, "Oh...You may not want to do that. He's running a low grade fever. He's feeling better today but still his temp is 99."
Like WTF dude! That means he is contagious.
Would I be an asshole for sending her my doctor's bill and asking her to reimburse me?
Work does not take kindly to unexcused absences. If you are sick enough to call off work then you go to the doctor if you miss work and get a doctor's excuse stating you are sick! Not only did I have to go to the doctor because I'm sick I've used up 3 of my sick days and am now heading into using some of my vacation time because of the gastro-intestinal illness I've caught. Grrrrrrrrr!
