Conspiracy RDA......Really??

This bugs me. Nice looking atty and all that. But the maker sells it for $60, and it comes to you in pieces, totally disassembled. It is your privilege and honor to assemble it yourself. I don't know about you, but when I buy a new atty I expect new, shiny and intact. This is a marketing ploy, and a sad one. Don't need to pay anyone to assemble it (whether China or here, I don't know), the buyer will!! And they even provide an assembly video, how nice. Is this greed, or eliteism? And the reviewers on the tube are all over themselves about what a great atty, and how cool it is that you get to assemble it. I say, offer the intact atty at $60, offer the disassembled version at a discount. I wouldn't mind assembling it for a cost savings, that's one thing.
Kind of galls me that the maker thinks we're all such sheeple that we wouldn't mind. On top of that, the name was stolen from the Tobeco Conspiracy mod that came out awhile ago...kind of lame. Rant over, nuff said.

Take it easy :). It aint that hard to put a RDA together. A lot of people disassemble new products and clean them.

No, assembling the thing wouldn't be hard at all. Point is, why should people have to assemble it? And why charge $60 bucks for an unassembled atty? Let's see, you shell out 60 clams. You pay for shipping. And you put the thing together yourself. Doesn't that bug people? No thanks.

Just kind of stuck in my craw, you know? Like the constantly reduced size of products in grocery stores for the same price. Like the increasing amount of self-checkouts and having to bag your own groceries, and on and on. Just hate to see something like that start to happen with vape gear, what with all the regulations we're already putting up with.

Remember the good old days when your car could get filled with gas, without even having to get out or get your hands smelly? Those were truly the days.

There's actually one aspect that I wouldn't mind terribly if it could be a user-enacted part of it: if there were different size holes for airflow, marked but not yet drilled out, so the user could choose the airflow he liked; since I like a very tight draw, I would really enjoy something like that. But just putting it all together.... nah. That's what manufacturers are for.

ok there is an actual reason they do this
1. so you can clean it before assembly which many do. so ut actually saves many people time by having it in pieces to start with
2. you can choose the grub screws since it comes with 2 different styles

i find they should install the DT oring cause thats a pain in the ass to install and they install other orings as well

for some its tsupid for some it genius\just like coils, flavors, percentages nic levels etc...TO EACH THEIR OWN. it snot a bad atty but its flavor is about teh same as every other atty out there

What Just Frank and Matt said when I got mine I would normally strip it down for a clean anyway so it saved me the hassle

However they decided to put the post in with the screws which meant my post was damaged on arrival this bit I did not like

Great RDA though really enjoy using it

Now that my danders down Matt I can see your point too. But you're right about the DT inner o-ring. Reminds me of the old "Clean Tank" all-glass cartomizer tank, with inner o-rings that were a total bitch to get in there right!

My only concern is with it being in bits how does one know that it will all fit together properly until you buy it and assemble it.
I mean machining errors happen...

Also in my experience it allows one more area for error in packaging. leaving one part out....

I love it...putting it together is a nice experience IMO. I own 4 Conspiracy RDAs (I will admit, 2 I received before I purchased the others)
The RDA itself is great, topped with a Gorge Ultem Topcap it makes my Top 3.

If I were to buy this rda I deffenently wouldn't buy a clone. Then I'd be worried about missing pieces or parts not fitting. On the flip side there are plenty of similar rdas that come assembled for folks that don't want to bother.

My only complaint is the name of it.... I'm okay with assembly since I tinker alot anyway. It's kind of odd choice of name. Price is kind of high for pieces. Having an employee assemble is costly in a facility. Most factories in the US say each employee is an annual expense of $250000.... which in China probably equates to more like $50000... that's still a large expense.

Seems to me it isn't too much to ask that a new item should arrive CLEAN and ready to use, but the vaping community seems to be willing to settle for less. As well, we are largely willing to hack our purchases to make them work properly. Stick a piece of electrical tape here, replace flaccid o-rings there, price point notwithstanding. I guess if we don't demand quality we can't expect to get it.

And you didn't even mention the major hacks like drilling, either the airflow or the bottom posts (for squonking), or inserting parts like blunt needles to tighten the airflow! It's a very "user-driven" market, and it really ought to stay that way; it keeps the manufacturers on their toes as to what the users really want. Now if they'd just get off their "cloudz bro" fixation and start making some REALLY GOOD MtL attys again.

To be fair. 4 new MTL rta are out in the past few months. Hastuer, Ares , siren 2 , and beserker. Also the kayfun prime came out not too long ago.

The Hastur is that Chtulululul thing, right? Definitely not MtL, do you see the size of that driptip? I'm not certain about the Siren 2 either, due to the size of the airholes under the coil deck; no matter how tightly you can close the outer hole, if the inner holes are huge, it's never going to be a tight draw. Notice I said GOOD MtL. :D Cloud chasers can't determine GOOD MtL; they think if they can't huff the floor up through their shoes, it's a tight draw. :giggle: Don't know about the new Kayfuns; they kinda sold out MtL'ers a while back.

The Achilles is GREAT MtL; the Kayfun Lite Plus is good MtL; the original Lemo closed all the way and the Magma with one of the very tiny airholes are both borderline, but not bad.

i have a hastur it's 100% MTL comes with a tiny restricted drip tip and like 6 airflow restricters for the deck. going with the smaller drip tip and the smallest restricter it's 100% MTL but you can take out the restricter and use the bigger top for RLH. I can take pics later

also i'm not a cloud chaser. i could care less about clouds

Yes, I'd like to see some pics of a smaller driptip for that Hastur; the one that's usually shown is MUCH too fat. How does that draw compare with a Kayfun Lite Plus? (I can't ask for comparisons to the Achilles, so few have tried one).

don't have a kayfun lite. i have the ares (MTL tank designed by phil b), the hastuer, 3 MTL pod systems, and had the nicolas (great MTL tank) as a baseline i'll take some pics of it later

I've got a Berserker; I like either the .8mm or the 1mm airholes, and FINALLY figured out how to make it stop leaking (don't use top-filling! Just like a kayfun!)... but I can't say I'm really thrilled about its flavor; seems a bit blah.

here are their specs from the site
Two 510 drip tips(airhole dia.: 3.5mm & 2.0mm).
It comes with 5 swappable air flow resisters(1.0mm, 1.6mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.5mm).
4 extra air flow resisters are optional (1.2mm,1.4mm,1mm X 2, 0.8mm X3)

hmr-3.jpg
i'm using the 1mm restricter and 2mm 510 tip currently

it's also got the GTA style raised deck so no leaks either

I thought Id share how I have some of mine set up. Coils laid right on the posts, almost no leads and pulled off to the side to hand almost 2/3 off the posts. Cotton bulbed and curved down and into the center, when used with the Gorge Ultem Cap as shown below you can see that the chamber space is almost fully taken up and the sick surrounds around the air holes so the air travels to the coil and then to your mouth and there sint any other room at all so the flavor is INSANE and the heat is definitely great.

What builds are those Raymo? Gonna have to try the ultem gorge cap!
5 Core Aliens and Alien Staggertons comprised of 5x28g/36g SS (4 wraps/3mm ID @ .07 Ohms), they are my personal favorite coils...I prefer them to anything...but I like really warm, really fast vapes...

The Gorge comes with a SS and a Ultem Cap, and for the $25 price tag for the RDA I find that the caps alone are worth it, Ive bought 3 Gorge RDAs just for the caps and they fit a bunch of RDAs and each RDA they go on the flavor increases exponentially.

SkyWalker, Skill, Conspiracy, TM24, Anything the Druga Cap fits on basically. Every deck it goes on it does the same for it, makes it the same as a Goon LP in stature, the cap clears the posts or coils by 1.5-2.5mm, Airflow seems to always be in the perfect spot. The Decks will fit the same sized build and wicking but all other room is reduced so the experience is amplified, I may release a similar cap set (To fit all popular Decks) in the future after I release my RDA...

Ok, I thought it was an RDA, which is definitely not MtL. :D How do those clamps do for fine-gauge wire? I use 29ga.

But see, I want to see more good MtL choices in RDAs; I don't really like tanks anymore, because their flavor just can't compete with RDAs.

Andria
i'm using 26g currently (that's what phil B uses) and it works great. the smallest i have is 28 so i can try that next build. If you have a spec for me to use in the build i can do that as well. gonna do a rebuild this weekend on it.

also i assume you were thinking of the M RDA? which i gave a bad review to and it's not a MTL device at all

I dunno; I typed "hastur" in the address bar and google came up with hastur RDA. And I've seen that new Cthululul RDA they just came out with, and it doesn't look MtL at all to me.

My usual build is 8 wraps of 29ga around 3/32, it comes in somewhere around 1.8Ω.

yeah that RDA isn't made for MTL and not advertised as such. it's a dual coil sqounk DTL RDA. the M RDA was their "MTL RDA" but it really wasn't the hastur RTA is a true MTL RTA. I'll try your build out next and then use phil b build after that as well and a few more of my own "experimental builds" after that I'll let you know how the 28g holds up. my resistance will be lower though cause my 28g is SS316 and i assume your using kanthal. also do you space or use contact?

I'm not really all that particular about the spacing; I don't compress them, but after tightening down, they usually end up with very little space between the wraps. This is what I'm currently vaping --

currentvape.jpg

It's actually around 1.85Ω -- always kanthal; SS just tastes like "oooh change that coil yesterday, it tastes like burnt metal!" :giggle:
