Your thought on vg/pg ratios and tanks

Before I try a little something, I wanted to get some thoughts from you folks. Long story short, I've always vaped 70/30 or 80/20 vg/pg mixes. Its just what I've been used to. Every tank I've used developed vacuum lock problems after 3 to 7 weeks. They just start to wick poorly. It doesn't matter how many new coils I try or how I prime, the problem persists. Is my problem likely tied to using too thick of a juice?

I'm going to go ahead and mix a 50/50 tomorrow and see if things change for the better. I realize the pros and cons on using more pg or more vg. However, I'm wondering what ratios those of you that use tanks and RTAs go with. I'm just tired of persistent wicking problems and am hoping a change in my mixture can make things run smoother.

Things will definitely be better with a 50/50 in tanks, that is what i always try to use in them.

Well, the 50/50 mix bombed. It just rolled right thru the coil. Luckily, I found a thread on the Vaporesso Estoc Mega tanks and learned how to replace the seal on the top cap. The tank is working like it should with 70/30 vg/pg juice.

Dang Wotofo Flow tank however still sucks out loud even with replacing the two seals on the top cap. Dang thing just won't wick. Doesn't matter what I do or what pack I use coils from. It just sucks. It's a shame because when it works the flavor is wonderful. But that went bye bye a while ago.

May be a silly question, and something you've already tried, for that matter, but does poking holes in the wicking with a pin help? I don't own this tank, but thought I'd ask anyway. Sucks that you have to deal with this issue.

I tried. The wicking holes are quite small and the wicking material seems hard to penetrate. I took that coil apart and couldn't really see where the cotton was burnt or anything. If I prime it heavily after every two vapes then I'll get wonderful flavor (I'll close up one of the AFC slots with a finger and give it a strong pull without firing). If I don't keep doing this the flavor dies off and it goes to dry hit territory. It sucks because when that tanks works properly (like it did the first number of weeks) it's wonderful IMO. Right now it's a piece of annoying garbage. I've replaced all the seals except for the two on the top and bottom that meet up with the glass.

Kinda sounds like a crappy batch of coils. It happens. I wish I knew the answer, but all I saw online were decent reviews for it. Have you tried it with the SMOK TFV8 Baby Beast coils? Something I read said they're compatible.

That is the final option. I'll probably buy a pack tomorrow because this driving me insane. I thought I had heard that the Vaporesso NRG coil will fit too but I could be wrong.

I use High or Max VG e-Liquids all the time and do not like high OG or even 50/50 but only have had one tank give me a Vapor Lock problem and that was the Melo III Mini with the Pico Kit. Solution is to loosen the cap for a second and you see bubbles from the cotton. Once the coil breaks in it doesn't give me that issue. Good Luck!

Sounds more like too thick of a wick. Wick a little looser, trim up instead of jamming down into channels. Tanks like Griffins, TFV's etc. should have no problems running even straight VG, but earlier tanks, Kayfun 3.1 era and such with smaller juice channels might have some issues with thick juice.
