Battery Help

I just bought 2 batterys for my new smok alien 220w and the batterys I was given in the shop are Aspire 18650 3.7v Li-ion 1800mAh super high discharge 40A and Basen 18650 3100mAh 3.7v High drain 40A and I was wondering if it’s safe to use these 2 batterys together

NO! Batteries in a dual battery mod MUST be the same brand and have the same specs! They must be a "married" pair as well. In other words if you have 4 batteries total you must use the same pair each time you swap out. This is done by numbering the batteries 1 and 1 is one pair, 2 and 2 is another, or you can use letters or shapes, but the same two batteries must be in the mod at the same time. If you had or have two Aspires and two Basens then you'b be okay, use the two Aspires together and the two Basens together. But that's not what I'm getting from your post, you said you only bought two, not two of each. Oh, and another thing, that 40A rating is not for constant draw, that's pulse draw only. Nobody makes a constant draw higher than 30A currently.

Did they sell you mismatched batteries?

Dude....they should know better. Did they know you were using them in the same device?

Won't "break" your mod, but your performance will definitely suffer, and it'll do a number on the batteries. An unsafe number at that.
Listen to @Kranky Kanger, he's right. I'm just finding it shocking that a shop would do this, they're supposed to be able to advise and know about battery safety.

Personally, of the two, I'd choose the Basen. Most of my own are Samsung and LG, and I also have a few of the new Vapcell being sold at Liionwholesale right now.

It's always better to charge the batteries in an external charger. As far as the other part of your question, that would be better answered by one of the big boys, for I'm really not sure. ;)

Hi. I’d appreciate an experts input. Picked up a baby alien a few months ago. Just upgraded the tank to the somewhat larger capacity tfv8 x baby. Since day one after trying all the various smok coils, I found that the lowest resistance x4 quad coils suited me best. I find the balance of flavour, vape, and pull strength great. So I bought a few packs of the x baby x4 coils @ .13ohm for the newer tank. I always vape between 50-53W, as it’s recommended 45-60 for these coils.

My question is regarding batteries. The local shop I picked up the kit from gave me a Sony VTC6 upon purchase. It’s doing it’s job, and time between needing to charge I find decent. However I’ve been reading many links online regarding the right batteries to use compared to coil resistance and Vaping watts. I honestly feel more confused by the mixed reviews that I did prior.

Can anyone help me with advice? Thanks.

For that kind of wattage with two 18650 batteries in a regulated mod, the Sony VTC6 is still the best choice available to us right now.

The Smok AL85 is a single cell 18650 mod. Okay, cool. I appreciate the feedback. I was just wondering if I was potentially missing out on a better battery with regards to performance and life. Cheers!

Yeah my bad and sorry about that. I meant to say single 18650 battery regulated mod.

If you chain vape at 55 watts on a single 18650 regulated mod, I'd suggest going for the Sony VTC5A instead of the VTC6, albeit if that's the case you'd probably be better off by simply going for a dual battery mod. (You can't really chain vape on a TFV8 anyway, as doing so would burn out the coil pretty much immediately.)

Thanks again. Although I could easily see myself chain vaping if left to my own devices- no pun intended lol- thankfully my life is pretty hectic and I don’t have the time at work and at home. I realize sometimes while driving that I don’t let go of it, but that’s the extent of it. Normally I’m vaping in spurts of 2-3 minutes/ typically 8-10 pulls, every hour or so. I’ll keep using the vtc6 and see how it holds up. Cheers.
