Hey, let's do an eggnog thread!

I found this one on the ELR website, and it looks interesting. I have 25ml steeping right now (just made it). The dude says to let it steep for a week.

Eggnog custard

1.00% Bavarian Cream (TPA)
5.00% Eggnog (TPA)
4.00% Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (TPA)
6.00% Vanilla Custard v1 (CAP)

The TFA Eggnog smells fantastic as-is. Has anyone tried it standalone? Maybe add a hint of bourbon or rum flavoring to it. Actually, I think the above recipe could benefit from a bit of bourbon added to it.

I made a Pumkin pie flavor last night that taste more like egg nog than pumpin pie lol. been vaping it all day thinking why does this taste like egg nog, then I see this. maybe Ill tweak it some more and add it here lol

Mebbe to heavy a hand with TFA Holiday Spice or other spice  (Pure speculation)

Yup, when compared to other TFA flavors, that Holiday Spice can be crazy strong. Sounds to me that you did mix a fine Pumpkin flavored EggNog.

Okay, so it's had a week steeping time. I have to say, there seems to be a LOT of nutmeg in this eggnog flavoring. Even at only 5% of the total 16% flavoring it's still fairly prominent. I don't think the eggnog as a stand alone flavor would be any good... Although it's not a bad vape by any means, I had higher expectations for this mix. Maybe it needs a tad bit of EM to round it out? It's definitely not too sweet.

@Teresa P Do you have any suggestions?

EM would mute some of the harsh notes, but I think if it were me I'd try some Vienna cream. It would enhance the milky part of the eggnog and sweeten a bit too.

So I added the 2% Vienna Cream - it helped, but it's still not there. I think the TFA Eggnog just sucks. I'll have to see if Cap or FA makes it and order some.

That sounds like something I would like. I really need to start DIY. I've put it off for so long and it just keeps on costing me more money and disappointment.

I don't have the egg nog flavor, but I'm following this thread with AVID interest, wondering if I should order some. I don't have *exactly* the flavors given in the recipe, but I do have TFA DX Bavarian, and TFA Vanilla Swirl, and I find that together, those flavors make a very credible and diketone-free custard flavor, so how about this:

6% DX Bavarian (or maybe 5% if you're using the original Bavarian)
5% Vanilla Swirl
2% CAP Sweet Cream (or maybe that Vienna cream that Teresa mentioned)
2% TFA Eggnog
.5% Sweetener

If one finds the Eggnog too overpowering, maybe knock it down to 1% or 1.5%. And maybe use both the Sweet Cream and the Vienna Cream. I really can't see how you could approach the extreme richness of eggnog without at least 20% flavoring. Actual eggnog's flavor is so saturated, I can't taste the vape if I'm drinking any.

5% TPA Eggnog may just be too much for your tastes. I've seen it used in some recipes in amounts from .25 to less than 2%.

Your mix is what? already at 18% total flavoring? While adding more FA Bav. cream was a good idea, throwing even more flavoring at it now to reduce the TPA to your taste preference level may not be ...prudent. I myself would try to make eggnog by shaking what I had and drawing off 4 mls. To that I would add 15 mls. of my usual pg/vg/Nic. base. After a S&V sampling I might, if warranted, add some more FA Bav. cream or that Bourbon you mentioned in the OP. If the TPA was still too strong for my taste, perhaps either a further dilution or starting from scratch might be in order.
Cap & FLV sell eggnog flavors. With aging, do you want to start vaping eggnog after Dec. 25?
Just my 2 cents.

I think he was just trying to salvage what he already had in adding something to smooth it out. But another batch is definitely in order with less flavoring. I've never used any vendor's eggnog, but it sounds good. I'd like a nice boiled custard even better... :D
