I have seen the video of the Tesla Wye autofiring and was wondering if anyone other than that guy has had this problem with their Wye.

And @ShowerHead and @Nailz

I think you should take a look at what I just posted:
http://vapingunderground.com/threads/tesla-wye-200w-random-auto-fire-while-on-and-in-standby.375103/

I have a local gal that wants to trade me for a brand new yellow splash one. I really want it. Except upon researching, as I always do, I found and heard of these issues. I don't need my purse or desk on fire. I keep all of my rotation mods on paper towels on my desk. In summary, I declined the trade.

I saw the video but have not heard of anyone else having the autofire issue. This could have been a rare malfunction and not a problem with all these mods.

I understand what you are saying. I wanted it quite badly myself. I may still trade for it since she's counter offered me such a great deal.

There are more vids out there claiming the same issue. It isn't rare; it's a known problem. This will be one that I just won't take out of the house. Fire in the purse and all. Umm...I wouldn't keep this rocket in your pocket.
I'm just making members aware if these issues.

Thanks for the info and I guess I will find out if I will have a problem.

I have a white one and I absolutely love it, I love the shape of the mod. It is very comfortable to hold abs the rubberised texture is great.
I love my Speeder and it is very nice in the hand but I find myself reaching for my wye and minikin V2 more than anything else.
I don't find the wye too bad in TC mode either, I have used a lot worse :)

Yeah, I’ve heard the same things since I got the mod.
Meanwhile, I’ve enjoyed many tanks of vaping pleasure with it.
I don’t bang mods around, don’t leave juice running down them, haven’t spilled my beer on any
In short, I don’t believe there is a generic issue with the Wye.

I am excited to get it and I am going to be using it as my main mod in the rotation so I can give it an honest evaluation. I love trying out new mods and tanks. Being retired, I have a lot of time to vape and experiment with different features.

As with any other mod, all have their faults whether it's heat flux, display problems, etc.
She agreed to $30 but I have her so much information (she's been vaping for 3 years) it's like she has no clue what she's doing. I think she has one other rig and that's it. I'll try to barter more with ejuice and see if I can get it for free. Like you, I would love to have one but was freaked out about the known issues. As long as I have it on my desk and not on a flamible surface when I go to bed, we'll see. I'll post here again if I have issues.

Enjoy as it's a good mod :)

I decided to do a search on mods autofiring and Wow, I could not believe all the different brand mods that this problem has occurred in. There was even one video of the Hexohm autofiring and it's one of my favorite mods. It just convinced me even more that this is probably a case of user error or just a weird issue with some mods and l it might not matter which brand or mod you get. I have a Ijoy Zenith that has autofired a few times. I don't use it any more but think I might do surgery on it to see if I can discover what is causing the issue. It's a shame too because I really liked that mod.

Yeah I think people need to take responsibility cos they moan about it online when it's probably down to them. I've vaped for over 4 years and never had anything auto fire

Update :
I got my Tesla WYE today and put am Ammit 25 on top. I can't imagine a better vape and I have tried a bunch of mods. I am running a single SS316L coil in the Ammit in TC and the mod performs exactly like it should. I have had exactly 0 misfires, 0 problems and so far I am very impressed with this mod. It is so lightweight and the screen is nice and bright. I am not putting this one down any time soon in fact, I have put my other mods on the shelf and gonna run this one exclusively for a while just to give it a run for the money. For the price point of this mod, I am very impressed. Hopefully, I can keep everyone updated on my experience with this mod but so far GREAT !!

I've had a SX mini and 2 lava box DNA 75's auto fire on me. The Lava box was replaced both times (thirds a charm apparently) and the SX sits on a shelf.

Glad you are enjoying the Tesla.

Glad your enjoying it. I love mine but just wish the battery compartment had ribbons

I've been on the fence about this mod for a while, but was kinda turned off by the splatter look.
Then I saw a solid black rubberized one, right about the time I heard about the auto-fire allegations. After reading around here, I would be inclined to agree with the user error explanation.
For those that own the WYE, do you see any issues so far, or have any longevity concerns with that snap together battery door?
I've yet to see any long term use, wear and tear reviews. however one particularly complain-ey youtuber mentioned the door's construction and lack of magnets as potential probs.
Also, any issues with it being top heavy with certain tanks?

I've had one since it was available.
Been biking, hiking, roadtripping, literally everywhere. No issues.
Nothing with the buttons, 510, door, magnets, finish.
Is it top heavy? Don't know really, I have knocked over every mod/tank I own at some point. This one doesn't stand out as more prone to me.
The only thing I've had to remember is that if I put the door on and it makes a parallelogram, it has a tiny bit of play. If I make it look like an arrowhead, rock solid.

I have had exactly zero issues with this mod. I have no issues with the battery door. It is very solid and tight. I don't have any issues removing the batteries without a ribbon because the opening on the sides give easy access to the batteries and removing them. I haven't noticed the mod being top heavy with the Ammit 25 that I have on it. I have used my WYE every day since I received it and would not have any problem recommending this mod.

Thank-you @pescadore, @ShowerHead, @skt239 and other helpful folks for your inputs.
I really appreciate everyone's insights about the Tesla WYE being a worthy mod despite the negative hype. I also took a cue from my new buddy @pescadore about the tank. Scooped up that rubberized black WYE with an ammit25 topper tonight...I'm sure thats gonna be a swell combo :D
Just curious, anyone know what WYE stands for?

No problem !!! You will have a nice setup for sure. I have no idea what WYE stands for and always thought it was kind of a weird name. My guess is that it has something to do with the shape. Keep us posted when you get it. I would definitely like your impressions. Also, if you have any questions, feel free to ask and I will help if I can !!!

It's become my main mod since I got it. I just seem to wreck my battery wraps with it but that's not a mod problem. I'm heavy handed

They finally shipped today...at least it'll land before the mail holiday :) Should I go ahead and order some more battery wraps in advance?

YAY! It's here, and love this mod so far! Silky smooth feeling and hits like a train...it made the fuchai duo-3 it replaced in rotation feel very underpowered.
it's a bit thicker than the fuchai, but the weight and performance difference is incredible. Another difference is that temp control actually seems to work on this one...what a novelty! I've got one complaint so far - the screen font on some of the info is tiny for old eyes; but overall the WYE is a surprisingly great mod.

Yep, while I have to squint to read the screen, it performs great.
Happy for you!
