Curo coiler or coil jig.

I've used both, and for smaller standard builds I like the curo-style best, makes wrapping parallels a breeze but I bought this regular jig, and I really like it. I broke my curo coiler so I'm using this and I've got to say I'm going to get a few more. It makes coil installation a breeze. I pre cut and hold the jig right up against the posts and Bam, perfect distance.

I'm not sure what either of those are. Got pics? I looked at the Coil Master coil wrapping tool thingy and I think I may have enjoyed it at first, but I've read several times that they can damage wire, especially wrapped wire. Do you not find that to be an issue? I enjoy wrapping coils these days though.

I don't think coil master would put out a product that would damage wire. Just be careful. I could see like really small wrapping wire could maybe be damaged if your weren't careful but with Claptons and aliens Staples I'd probably just wrap it using a coil jig not a coiler

To me they look similar, the kuro and coil master v3/4 etc. Haven't used the kuro but I have a coilmaster v4 that makes things simple. Especially for simple single wire coils.

More complex stuff I generally don't use the end cap piece that you spin around the rod. The head of the screw that presses against the wire and guides it around the rod of the jig seems to get 'stuck' in things like staggered or half staggered and isn't long enough to apply pressure all the way across wider coils like fused claptons. In those cases I just install the rod of choice into the handle and hand wrap the wire around the rod.

It does make it easier for installing coils (I think) and keeping their shape as well as snugging them by pulling out after the leads are secured. Or for positioning and straightening them so they're horizontal. Rather than looking for a particular sized screwdriver or bit it's nice just having the standard coil id sizes in one kit.

as to the coilmaster damaging wire I think that is for things like claptons and such. I can see it as the nub that bends the wire would be rubbing across the outeer wraps on the wire. wrap loosley or with a fine gague wire and put a lot of tension on the coil jig and yea, it may damage it.

Maybe, when I looked at the kuro coiler it looked almost identical to the coilmaster tool. I can see it damaging fine wrap wires, especially on a fused clapton where it's wider and stiffer. Increased pressure to force the wire around the jig rod and only on part of the wire. That's why I skip using the end piece with the screw head used as a wire guide for thicker stuff where it might catch.

I would probably use a jig.. I mean I don't think I could even fit aliens let alone any thing other than maybe twisted builds in the thing in the first place. I don't think uds version would hurt fused Claptons but I would probably not chance it. I have both a jig and coiler

Dremel the knurling off the screw head. Yes, it does kind of grab the outer wire on fancy coils so smooth it out and no issues.

You can't fit much more than a 26g single core clapton in the Kuro but I just make the first 1/2 turn around the shaft, hold the tail with my thump and turn the wire with the cap same as I do if the wire fit into the hole.

Actually works better since you don't lose that first 1/2 wrap of the coil since it is angled out to the side in line with the hole.
