I was looking around last night and ran across this, NCR New concept RDA. It looks very interesting to me. It is saying it has a 600,00 cycle life and you can dry burn to clean the “wafer”. The “wafer” is made out of SST aluminum nitride Just fold over the cotton on the “wafer” and that is it. It has a resistance of 0.4-0.5 ohm. It is suggests you use a power curve with it. Not sure if there are other resistances available. I didn’t look. Has anyone got to try one of these? Any thoughts, as it is a very interesting concept.

It doesn't look like there's a spare wafer included in case it gets broken or cracked. Also no mention of spares for sale. But it's definitely something I'd be interested in trying.

I saw this in an email from 3FVape. Very intriguing.

This could be the greatest innovation in vaping technology since yodeling.

That was what I was thinking, these wafers. How durable are they. It is something different like said in the article. Probably why it caught my eye. LOL
I might have to put this on my Christmas list. :)

One of the main features that will determine a coil's performance the surface area. Off hand, I cannot think of a single coil with this much surface area in this resistance range. I can see it putting out some major vapor. Because of that surface area, I think the chamber volume isn't as important as is in other RDAs. But I'm pretty sure I'd have to enlarge the airflow holes.

On the negative side, I can see ramp up time being a problem. And I'm quite sure the wafer won't be evenly heated. The top portion will obviously be much cooler than the bottom portion.

Well Chef you type faster than me it seems. I was just looking at the pictures again and it appears as if the middle is much hotter than the upper portion. They do have you need to run a power curve. Here is what is suggested.
The MOD with AOC Power mode (Adjustable Output Curve) or Boosting mode is strongly recommended. To optimize the wafer heating function, please set up a considerably high wattage(70W-80W)at the initial firing stage for around 0.5-1 second, then drop the wattage to a relatively low level(40W-50W) to last for another 2-3 seconds. Users may customize the Power mode settings to personal preference.

Fuck that. If I can't just wick it, juice it, and vape it, then it isn't worth it.

I think I am still going to throw it on my list. It is just a cool concept, even though I like easy.

I sent it to my wife, she wanted to know what I want for Christmas so I threw this in there. One reason I was looking around last night. LOL
