Is second e-juice harmful to non-vapors?

I am about ready to stuff something other than a sock in my wife's mouth for continually busting my balls about vaping. She has asthma and swears up and down it's going to put her in the hospital from breathing second-hand vapor in the house. I use to smoke several cigars outside of the house each day before I started vaping several months ago. First, it was you're going to get "popcorn lung" from vaping. When I proved to her the chemical ingredients that cause popcorn lung is not in E-Juice she moved on to bitching about unhealthy effects from second-hand vapor.
I'm running different 3 mods +a Smok Baby Beast .15 coil, a Smok Big Baby Beast .40 coil and a Vandy Vapes Pulse 24 BF .40 dual coils on a Squonker with different flavor juices in each one. I mix my juice 80%-90% VG and 10%-20 flavoring. I also use 7-8 mgml nicotine salts in each of my juice mixes. I vape 3ml to 4ml of juice a day total and run my mods between 35w to 40w. The flavoring extracts I'm running are menthol, peppermint, and spearmint. The flavors are used as separately and not mixed together.
So, I'm not wanting to be insensitive to my dear wife of 33 years concerns, and especially I don't want to offend any of the female members in this forum when I say this. But my lovely spouse is like a piranha in a river going after an injured bleeding prey when she gets on a subject she objects to and just will not quit!
Any real data from researchers or physicians that specialize in respiratory ailments concerning second-hand vapor would be greatly appreciated.
To tell you'll the truth I'm considering purchasing a male sports cup to protect the family jewels :sneaka:

Just vape where she is not. It won't cause asthma. Simple

I believe if you Google studies regarding secondhand vapor, you'll find it's about as harmless as the good ol air we breathe, just make sure you read credible sourced articles.

Depending on where you live of course, like Philadelphia, Detroit, Cleveland, China & India, count them out. You could be giving shotguns into her lungs and it would be safer-cleaner air than folks breath in MANY metro areas of the country.

I can honestly attest to the fact that second hand vapor does NOT agitate my husband, and he was born with asthma - and not the "kiddie" kind, his is much more serious and has almost killed him on several occasions. Any doctor he's been to in his 43 years has told him he has the lungs of an 80-year-old lifetime smoker, yet he's never smoked a day in his life. I vape in the house and it doesn't bother him. I even vape in the car and it doesn't bother him, and believe me, he'd say something if it did. Perhaps she's sensitive to certain aromas, there are a few juices that leave an after-trail that's less than pleasant. But I've read more than one legitimate article stating that second hand vapor is no more "toxic" than room air by itself.

My 12 year old son has asthma. I never smoked in the house or in my car. He needs to use an inhaler and he did so a regular basis when I smoked. Since I've quit, his breathing is near normal and he's only used the inhaler twice in the past 15 months and both times were when he wasn't around me. I vape around him all the time and it doesn't bother him one bit.

I've read experiences by some of our members that are asthmatics and some have said their own breathing is better, and they've rarely needed their rescue inhalers.

I wish I could remember which article I was reading, but they were also making the claims that 2nd hand vapor isn't harmful. They're out there, but I can't recall who had done the studies.

Thanks, for all the very good input I have received. Especially those that live with a loved one unfortunate enough to be affected with asthma. In 1984 while my wife and I were dating, I was a cigarette smoker. When our relationship came to the point where I proposed marriage to her she made me promise to quit smoking before we got married. So I bit the bullet and have not smoked a cigarette since that time. I attend a neighborhood poker game a few times a year and everyone including myself enjoy smoking cigars during the game. Apparently, the smoke gets into my clothing and I always hear about it for the next week, LOL.
I went back and searched Googe again and found two articles that are very helpful in my situation. One is a study done in recent years related to the health affects vaping has on our lungs. http://tobaccoanalysis.blogspot.com/2017/05/vape-shop-air-sampling-by-california.html
The second is data the California Dept.of Health collected and their conclusions concerning side health effects on non-vapers from being in the close proximity to someone who Vapes. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-017-14043-2
Those two articles might just save the family jewels from further abuse. I am aware from reading on these forums that there are a couple of compounds, that we need to avoid when selecting flavorings used to mix our e-juice that could cause serious issues. There is so much BS information on the net swearing that Vaping will put you and anyone around a vaper in an early grave. The one thing they always have in common is they never can cite a reputable study or source to support their condemnation of Vaping. I would be willing to bet if we could track down where those posts originated, everyone would be connected to Big Tobacco money. No one or other organization has so much to lose from the continued growth and popularity of Vaping other than the Tabacco industry. It would take all my fingers to list the relitives I have lost directly related to the use of Tabacco in one form or another. I'm sure each member here could tell the same sad story. Thanks again for all the helpful input everyone. Enjoy your vaping and live long!

There is some new-ish, independent, long-term-study-based research (platinum/gold standard in medical research when talking about
most human health effects and sorely missing in the politics of both sides of the "vaping" fence to date) about second-hand vaping and health effects coming out of the UK. Since the scientific findings and political stances (and hence the super-rich heavy-hitters) involved on opposite sides of "The Pond"are so different, I seriously urge you to ignore(or at least take with a whole shaker or two of salt) any research coming out of North America and focus your web searches on stuff in the UK and rest of the world. There is just NO escaping the serious $$ politics at play with regards to this topic in North America and 99.9% of the "research" and 150% of anything you see on TV or hear in the media here is tainted beyond any real use. The article you linked from CA was surprisingly positive about the lack of harm, wish there were more of them but most are like the shill report of "heavy metals found in e-cig vapor," non-scientific, non-medical sensationalism, just another circus for the Mob while the Vandals collect yet another 1000lbs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread_and_circuses) Pardon me for going off a bit, I am unable to even consider the political situation RE: vaping without getting almost apoplectic and having some sorta stroke or seizure. It's bluntly all about $$ and power yet again but this one seriously affects ME rather directly so it's rather hard to control my rage.

iirc, and paraphrasing and condensing it a bunch since I severely lack eloquent words atm, the consensus from the UK research is something like second-hand vapor might pose as much as 5% the same risk* as a comparable amount cigarette smoke.

*: HOWEVER saying just this (and the stuff I'm referencing here also makes this point) doesn't take into account at all the fact that the worst thing you get exposed to is nicotine, which aside from being really difficult to physically handle, seriously dangerously poisonous and badly addictive, poses no other health risks that I have been able to find out about.
Afaik the scientific consensus is that at the doses most people use it at nicotine is a stimulant just about like caffeine, with some possibility that it might be at least somewhat psychoactive since a lot of folks reported feeling "calmer" when using just nicotine free of the other tobacco chemicals and a LOT of smokers feel the opposite when they try to quit. Aside from this it does nothing to cause cancer or lung disease(one treatment for COPD apparently involves the patient inhaling vaporised PG, a common ingredient in ejuice so lung damage of any sort is quite unlikely imho) I has no links to share for all this info, but Google (and staying away from North American [I'm a Canuk, trust me, it's as bad or worse than America here] "information" or "news") is your friend.

The quick answer is no!

There is no scientific evidence that second hand vape causes anything other potential annoyance.

Hey HeavyHook -
I'm new here ... sorry if this is an old topic. But, while the sort answer is no, there is negligible effects of 2nd hand vapor (if any at all, other than not being able to see through the cloud), I can tell you, people ARE very sensitive to scents (myself included), and I for one cannot STAND all of those flavors you are vaping - ick! LOL ---- especially since you're not doing small MTL puffs and keeping it away from her. I try to keep my vapor to myself just to be considerate of other people in the room. I'll literally get up and walk about 10' away, take a couple good puffs and come back in. But, if my SO truly didn't like it, I'd go outside. It's not cool not to be considerate, even if we know it's really not "hurting" anyone. #peaceout :)

I have asthma. Now I vape instead of smoke. If it "caused asthma," pretty sure I wouldn't be able to. But you have to accept, some people were just born to bitch; they can't help themselves. If they aren't harassing someone about something ridiculous, they don't know what to do with themselves.

Sounds like she's just set in her ways and under the stigma that vapor is as bad as smoke. I hope you manage to convince her hypochondriac brain that it's all in her damn head, but I feel ya.

My partner is currently under the exact same impression that vapor triggers her asthma even though I've never believed that and have never witnessed an attack brought on by vape. Sometimes it's just easier to nod and agree. ;) Open disagreement tends to make human beings more stubborn, even when they're wrong. Especially when they're wrong. But, yanno, we love 'em and all. So, just roll your eyes and don't vape around her or make an effort to blow your clouds UP and AWAY from your wife.

Also, I found this very interesting while browsing the forums:
https://tobaccoanalysis.blogspot.com/2017/05/vape-shop-air-sampling-by-california.html
(someone already posted this above, but it's so informative that I feel it needs reiteration)

If you decide to show this research to your wife then maybe tell her you've heard her concerns and were concerned yourself whether or not vapor has an impact on second-handers' asthma; honey>vinegar. Declaring you're right and she's wrong while waving around evidence will likely be detrimental to your cause (re: stubborn human nature). And coming from another female, this is never going to get you what you want. Anyway, that is my legit plan to hopefully one day be given the blessing to vape inside of the house. Heck, I'd be happy with just one room to chuck clouds around in.

Patience!

Some asthma inhalers contain PG....

Good to know! I'll be adding that little tidbit right there to my arsenal of Logic and Reasoning. I should probably ask my own partner if fog machines have ever bothered her asthma. But, yanno, bring it up in a non-vape related context to get an answer not influenced by the stigma of vaping.:teehee:

Stigma is often just prejudice.

I don't disagree with that statement at all. Stigma just sounds a little nicer than saying prejudice.

It's not really her fault, I know that. My partner was a very sickly child growing up and her mom is an overbearing nurse. All of that medical knowledge fused with a worried mother's instincts and the assumption that anything/everything could result in a serious hospital visit. You see the problem? To this day she doesn't want me to call her ma when she catches a bug, because that woman's a whirlwind of maternal, hypochondriac-compacting worry (with good intentions).

Although, I should probably thank the both of them, because without that then I'd probably still be smoking a pack a day. Actually, I do thank my SO when it hits me just how much my health has improved since I dropped the analogs. This also reinforces a pro-vaping attitude.

Patience, bruh! And a lot of baby steps. I'd love to be able to vape inside before it gets cold. Winter is coming.

Thanks to everyone that has rung in on this thread I started about 4 months ago now. I really appreciate each person's experiences that have been shared on this subject. It seems like no matter how many studies that come out there are just as many BS stories that have no credible evidence, but spell out they're disdain for vaping. I've pointed out to my wife the 5-year study that was completed at a medical university in Mexico recently, also the results from the California Department of Health air quality study that was done in a popular vape shop. They all showed no harmful effects from vaping or compounds in hand vapor than everyday air. I believe what we are facing is if it quacks like a duck and looks like a duck its a DUCK! But it's not a apples to apples comparison. We all know cigarette smoke comes from the combusting tobacco and god only knows what other compounds the big tobacco companies have added. Since Vaping produces a cloud it must be just as bad. We as vapers know that the real BS in this comparison is that vapor and smoke are not even closely related, no matter what the clouds look.
We defiantly are facing an uphill battle with our government, friends, and families. I for one would love to see a giant neon sign in Times Square that would be highlighted each New Years Eve showing a running total of how many lives have been saved every hour by smokers who switched to vaping. I would especially like to thank the post made by "se7envirtues" . Your post was exactly like everything I have tried and the reactions I have received. Your post really hit close to home. God Bless everyone!
