Presentation wise it’s a really snazzy box, nice graphics. Definitely makes it stand out on the shelf more than others I’ve seen lately. There’s a scratch and sniff on the back with a QR code.
I’m not sure I agree with the slogan “Fireluke never limits your vaping”, Erm what about when I run out of E-liquid, what are you going to do about that Luke with the Fire!?....<must resist>.

Opening the box you are presented with the Fireluke in all its crazy glory. After removing the top presentation section everything is secured in place well so should survive the trip to your door ok, should you order online (assuming your local delivery service isn’t kicking it up the road).

Looks & Initial Impressions

You know the superman line “Is it a Plane”, well…. is it a fishbowl, is it a gumball machine, no….it’s the disco ball! ……that worked out so much better through the medium of dance, on here it’s just an anti-climax, and hey I never said I wrote “slogans” for a living!

The Disco Ball is what I call it, as the resin really is crazy and fun - I love it, even if you don’t like it, you have to admit it’s not just another run of the mill atomiser, it’s certainly going to be a talking point with your friends or colleagues good or bad.

I do find myself worrying about whether it’s is sensible to have the glass sticking out like this though so maybe a band would be advisable on this, I’ll just be really careful not to knock my mod over!

The Coil and Drip Tips are proprietary. This may put some users off if they like mix ‘n’ match set ups. Also there is no option but to use the wide bore drip tip. There is no 510 drip tip adaptor which is a real shame.

Freemax sent me both the stainless steel and resin versions to review. There are key differences between the two:

1) The resin version doesn’t have the drip tip as an “all in one” instead it’s a 2 piece design.

IMG_1594.JPG

2) Both the airflow control (AFC) ring, and top cap on the resin version extend out further than on the stainless steel. So if you use a mod with exactly 25mm to spare, note the AFC protrudes out further at 27mm close to the base. I suppose it’s a moot point considering the glass tank protrudes further still at 30mm, but it does make the resin version look bigger on your mod.

3) The resin version doesn’t have any knurling on the AFC or top cap

4) The resin versions 4ml replacement tank feels like ultem, and not glass at all. When I flick it feels like plastic as it has that dull thud, also it’s not cold like glass. Lastly just to double check it wasn’t just a coating I did drop it to check and it bounced so I’m almost certain it is ultem unlike the spare SS version which is glass.

Build Quality

Part alignment is very good when assembled. It’s not light, weighing in at 73/75g (when full with E-liquid) so again I need to re-iterate do be careful putting this on a mod that tips over easily as it will be top heavy.

Threading on both top caps could be better more so on the resin version, it’s a little scratchier than the stainless steel. Threading everywhere else is good though.

Positive pin sits proud no dodgy resistance reading detected to date, Coils have a +0.1 variance from stated 0.15ohm. It’s not a push pin like those found on a number of bases (Smok Baby Beast or uwell Crown to name a couple), rather it’s one you can adjust manually with a screwdriver if you so wish. There is a plate inside the base which contacts the bottom of the coil or RBA deck. I’m not going to say whether the push pin or plate approach is better I’ll let you be the judge of that, I’ll just say I haven’t noticed any unstable readings on my mods so it does works ok.

IMG_1607.JPG

Both versions held up to ultrasonic cleaning no problem. I probably shouldn’t have put the resin in there! Oh well it’s new so in it went. I should say neither smelled of machine oil, instead more that smell you get when you open the box of a brand new pair of trainers which would have been the packaging it came in.

The Airflow Control (AFC) ring has slight vertical play, more so on the resin version. The Stainless Steels AFC is designed to click as you turn it something the resin doesn’t offer. They both have a stop on them so no free turning which I like. Finally neither are press fit, hooray No leaking under the base!

Wasn’t impressed with how the wires were sticking out on my premade coil. This is something I find really irritating as leaking is inevitable if you just leave it. It’s not something you want to have to worry about on the go! So I did push them back a little with a small screwdriver to ensure the gasket sits flat (careful not to overdo it as you could potentially cause a short on the coil later). Good quality control on these coils is a must especially when they are running a proprietary option only so that will be a con.

IMG_1576.JPG

Features

Tank breaks down into 6 parts for cleaning and maintenance.

IMG_1601.JPG

For refilling you have to unscrew the top cap. The refill ports are extra-long kidney shaped although maybe a little narrow to get anything other than thin nose bottles inside. I have tried to use thicker twist nozzles to refill and it manages to find its way into the tank ok without too much bother. Finally I normally find threaded top fill atomisers tend to get messy around the top cap, but I haven’t noticed to be the case on here.

IMG_1593.JPG

The only time I’ve experienced leaking on this is either;

1) Leaving the premade coil sitting for a whole day without use as the condensation had time to drop inside the base, otherwise it was leak free the whole time (condensation or otherwise)

2) I have found that the resin version is worse for condensation collection especially at the corners of the Airflow Control (AFC) ring due to the fact the AFC isn’t as tight around the base, just keep an eye on this and tip it on a tissue to remove excess condensation before use especially when running the RBA deck.

The Juice capacity is decent at 5ml and doesn’t drink too quickly compared to other sub ohms I’ve used. Should you not like the Disco Ball you can rock the slightly more modest 4ml tank which gives it a narrow profile with plenty of the crazy left (the mad hatter).

The RBA looks like a solid option I’ll go into this more later but suffice to say the stock DIY Clapton Coils shipped with the product are really good. Freemax have used flat wire as the core instead of fused round wire giving you a staple coil type experience, which if anyone has used knows it’s very good.

Coil Report

Tested Conditions
· Using 75% VG using my normal flavour I always try for new products.
· Used Sony VTC5a batteries
· Tested on the Yihi Q mini
· Warmed coils up before taking notes at each stage
· Pinned the cotton wicking (I like to do this on all sub ohms)

Sextuple Kanthal Coil 0.15 ohm
Rated 60 W-140W, according to the manufacturer

Tested with my Airflow open a fifth as this suits my draw style.

60 – Fairly decent vapour, muted flavour, cool vape
70 – Flavour coming through better now, cool to warm vape
80 – Flavour coming through well, good vapour production, warm vape
90 - Flavour peaked, no increase in vapour production, warm vape to hot vape
100 – Airflow open to a third now, No increase in flavour, bigger clouds, warm to hot
110 – Flavour Diminishing, No increase in vapour, warm to hot vape
120 – Airflow open half way now, shorter vapes, tank getting hot, just more vapour less flavour and a hot vape
130 – Heading towards a burnt hit here can taste it coming through when chain vaping, hot vape
140 – Huge clouds, way too hot for me but does what it says without an actual burnt hit although wicking is just about hanging in there at this point

I settled on 85w as it had the best balance of flavour, vape temperature especially with a slightly restricted lung hit. I would say the recommended range is maybe a little overrated on this coil. The coil life is good at just over 2 weeks for me.

The RBA Deck and Wicking Guide

This deck is actually really good. There is ample amount of room for a decent sized set of coils. If anyone has ever used the Uwell D2 RTA think of this velocity style deck as it’s bigger brother, massive bottom airflows and decent wicking channels ensure a fantastic vape.

The stock coils are excellent as I mentioned earlier, ok the post screws are slotted (including the 4 spares) which I know will put some people off but they are decent quality and I can confirm I was able to wrench the coils legs in without any bother.

This is probably the best RBA decks I’ve used on any sub ohm tank but then I really like the Uwell D2 so I was bound to like this deck.

So here’s how I went about building and wicking it;

1) First install both of your coils. I pushed mine all the way the posts and tightened down the screws. (put a 3mm screwdriver or a coil jig bit in the middle to ensure it maintains its shape)

2) Now they are secured both sides use the screwdriver to pull them away from the posts. I positioned mine like this. When you are done just screw the RBA casing on to make sure the coils aren’t touching otherwise you’ll cause a short later.

jtEbtqa.jpg

3) Insert your screwdriver or coil jig into the juice and use it to bend the legs in so they are clear of the juice wells

hveyjmS.jpg

4) Once this is done if you have some ceramic tweezers pinch the coils back together, re-insert the screwdriver or coil jig and position the coil vertically like so.

k6FgAUX.jpg

5) Now heat the coils and ensure they are heating evenly. Strum them with the tweezers, pinch them and check the screws are fastened securely, also move them a little if you need to, You need to get rid of the hot spots and ensure both coils heat evenly from the centre outwards

6) I always use the Scottish roll method for my wicking using cotton bacon v2. First tear a strip off not too much it’s really not needed

aHhLvWx.jpg

7) Using your fingers spread it out a little (don’t tear it) so it’s flat like below. I also stretch mine a little as well

JHlhWqK.jpg

8) Now roll it up, don’t do it too tight.

AirszlA.jpg

9) Twist the end

10) Feed it through the coils like so and snip the end

poXvXMq.jpg

11) Straight cut the ends to where the bottom of the airflow is (my are right they just sprung back up a little makes them look longer). Once measured and cut rake the ends like so

bOvsv5A.jpg

12) Now give them a tidy up and snip the corners at an angle. I use the AFC as a guide on the resin version

ICx1Fx9.jpg

13) Now tease the end into the juice wells. Don’t push them in you don’t want a ball of cotton. Also really important here make sure there is no cotton hanging over the airflow (just use the tweezers to push it back a little)

14) The aim of this wicking guide is to plug the holes of the juice chamber. Inspect all around before you juice up and make sure there are no gaps anywhere

3tXgyHQ.jpg

15) Juice her up, check everything around again as the cotton swells (thinking airflow gap here) slap the housing on, reassemble everything, fill her up and let’s see if Luke really does limit your vaping!

How's the Vape?

Ok down to business, other than when I’m at home on a flavour chasing mission, for all day vaping I like a warm balanced vape (more towards flavour) with a decent cloud to boot. On that basis this really is one of the best Sub Ohm’s tanks I’ve tried to date. Flavour is very impressive both from the premade coil and the RBA deck.

The draw itself is fairly restricted no matter where you leave the airflow which suits me perfectly but won’t be to everyone’s liking if they like an airy vape. I personally run the airflow only a fifth the way open to maximise flavour from it. It’s also fairly noisy on the inhale but not annoyingly so to me.

Vapour production is very satisfying. I always got a nice moist flavour packed hit even when warming up the coil so the flavour comes through well. Wicking was never a problem on the premade coil especially after pinning it.

I need to give a special mention to the Rebuildable deck for the Fireluke. Most companies provide one as an afterthought giving new vapers a really bad insight into the DIY side of vaping. Due to the Fireluke having that big bowl you actually get a decent space to use. For me this the closest I’ve got to a dedicated Rebuildable Tank Atomiser (RTA) experience using an RBA, yes it really is that good.

The top cap never gets close to being too warm on either Stainless Steel or Resin versions, and both are comfortable to use.

Finally the break in time was very good. Literally only half a tank I had to put up with that premade coil taste (you all know what I’m talking about here)

Things I Feel Could Be Improved
  1. Coil Quality control on the premade coil with wire sticking out from the gasket.
  2. Scratchy threading on the top cap, more so on the resin
  3. Vertical play in the AFC causes condensation to collect especially on the resin version.
  4. Not a fan of proprietary drip tips & lack of 510 drip tip adaptor
  5. Would like to have seen the other Duodenary coil available in the kit
  6. Spare screws for the RBA could have been hex for those that hate slotted screws
  7. Would like to have seen a band included for the bowl tank.
Things I Feel It Does Well
  1. Fantastic flavour on both the sextuple coil and Rebuildable deck.
  2. Love the craziness of this tank stands out from the crowd.
  3. Excellent price point.
  4. RBA deck is fantastic to build and learn on, and the stock DIY coils are actually decent.
  5. Wicking holes on the RBA are placed right at the bottom of the tank so can vape until empty.
  6. Top cap doesn’t get hot so no bacon lips.
  7. The draw isn’t overly airy they have it set correctly for the recommended wattage range.
  8. Satisfying vapour production.
Final Conclusion

I do like to bring other things into the mix when I place tanks so it loses points on its potential durability issues which I just cannot ignore, otherwise it would have been sitting pretty right at the top of my favourite sub ohm list. This tank brings a lot to the table for a sub ohm. I’ve really enjoyed using it especially the RBA deck. I know styling is not to everyone’s liking but I really like it, I just wish I could have hijacked this crazy drip tip for use on my other attys as well!

Thanks very much for putting up with my ramblings, I hope I covered everything you wanted to know until next time KingPin!

Thank mate much appreciated :)

sorry for the pics hanging off the screen for some reason lately images don't size properly on here (on my phone anyway) they look fine on computer or holding phone horizontal

Tried hosting from Imgur and embedding them directly to the site neither works properly and didn't want to use thumbnails :( that's why it took a while earlier getting it all sorted

No idea how to use BBC code editor that will go right over my head lol

Picked one of these up a couple weeks ago. Pretty fun rta to work with. I bought it for my wife but ran it for myself for a while. It's a juice hog. Flavor was pretty decent. My wife likes to vape at low watts tho, so I put in a basic round wire build on the rba deck that comes in at .45 ohms, and vapes really nice at 40 watts. It's very versatile, and I got a lot of compliments on it while I was using it.

Do you like a fairly restricted draw chain? Found this a lot better with airflow reduced ...open wide it's way to airy for me

I had already decided to buy Fireluke, will now buy ss. Appreciate your comparison of resin/ss. Less I have to fiddle with the more likely tank will stay on mod rather than back in box!

Great review. Motivated me to get mine. Just arrived from fasttech!

Blown away by this tank. Looks so good in real life. And the flavor off the sextuple .15 coil is great. Looking forward to trying the RBA deck.

Here it is in SS Black on my Eleaf Invoke :)

Many thanks and glad you like it Dan  welcome to the disco haha ...if you like it now wait till you get cracking on that RBA deck! ...when it’s time for a change clean the coils up, re-wick and re-use ....they’ll keep you going for at least a few months before having to put some news one in!

Sweet :)

I'm new to building and waiting for my coil master kit to come in. Will report back in here when I get going with the RBA.

Also got a geekvape zeus on the way.

I'm done with pre made coils. Very expensive and don't last long enough the way I vape.

Looking forward to the longer lifespan of the rebuildables.

I picked up some of the dual .25 and .15 coils as well. Will try them after the sextuple dies.

One thing I noticed with my fireluke is there is occasional spitback with the sextuple coil. I'm using 80vg/20pg juice, ran it between 80 and 110 watts.. tried to retighten everything... still get the occasional spit back.

Not sure if it's this one off coil but have any of you experienced this? Any other remedes to note?

LMAO No spitback, just way too much coil for my style. The .25Ω only spanks me a bit, and I like it...a lot.:p
Gotchya.

It seems like it's a little leak from where the top of the coil connects to the top plate with the fill holes. When I bump up the wattage it clears the spitting but then it seems it starts up again after some tine. Anyway...it's not 100% constant so I'll monitor it and see how it performs.

I'll see how the .25 dual coil is too for me

Could be lose or dislodged O-rings

You have 3 to worry about check they are all ok and not twisted. also that one I’ve marked as no3 notice it’s not sitting flat...had to push wires back a bit to make sure it had a good seal

Thanks for the tips and pics! I didn't think to look at those. It seems to be vaping good now after tightening it the last time. It is a very damp and dense vape now but not much spit back. I'll probably be done with this coil in the next day or two from the hard use and then I'll try the DVC coils :)

So as much as I'm enjoying the Fireluke it is a bit air forward for me and the vape is a touch too warm with af more than 50% shut down. Can anyone tell me if using the rba with a large diameter coils would help reduce af? I don't see how it would, but then again I barely passed physics so...

The Fireluke is no where near made to be a restricted vape. It's not a tank for you.
Top airflow gives a more restricted vape with is why you like the engine nano so much. I wouldn't recommend the fireluke for you and there's no chance you can vape the usual 28 watts you vape with it

Thank you for your concern, but I do enjoy the tank and am quite surprised by the flavor. Just looking to optimize my enjoyment.

I set my wife's fireluke up for her. I use 26g ss 316l. 5 wraps around a 7/64 drill bit. Dual coil comes in at .24 ohms. Works great between 28 and 48 watts. My wife loves the flavor it gives. She keeps the air flow shut down to about 1/3 open. Not too hot, good flavor and decent clouds.

So, the fireluke is a really versatile rta. Low wattage, somewhat restricted airflow can be achieved while still producing good flavor and decent clouds.

Was gonna say you could also try lowering the coils towards the airflow holes Letitia reduce wattage and close airflow up a bit more.

Another way I use and I don’t know how you feel about it is TC..... you can really restrict airflow this way, I often use it to get a nice tight draw using a coil that ramps up a bit quicker some fused claptons (316L ramps up quickly anyway) and take slower longer draws and dial in the temp to suit

It's not an RTA. It's a tank that can use an RBA and imo shines in higher wattage.

It is an rta when you put that rba deck in it. It's a tank that can be rebuilt. Rta, rebuildable tank atomizer...

The fireluke is indeed super airy. I'm running it no more then 1/3 to 1/4 open.

Ps. This sextuple coil has been pretty awesome. 4th day running it hard between 90 and 120 watts. it's keeping up very well. I was burning cleito .4 coils every 2 days

I'm running a low flavor juice and the flavor is so strong compared to the cleito .4 I was using.

The vapor is so large, moist and dense. Super satisfying to me. No more spit back since retightening everything.

Amazing tank.
