I'm just wondering if others just use hot water or if you use soap or anything. I am mostly just interested in cleaning new and old coils in it, but hot water isn't really doing a good job. Any suggestions?

Drop in coils or your own wraps? UC will break down the wick in drop ins. Just rinse with hot water and put them in a shot glass with alcohol.

My own wraps. I rarely use drop ins.

I dry burn and brush coil then just drop deck in UC. Truthfully they get just as clean running warm water over them. I only use UC if I'm cleaning entire tank.

Cleaner I use Blitz Gem & Jewelry cleaner, it's non toxic and works excellent
Heat IMO is a must, used to have an ultrasonic without a heater and could only use hot water. It worked just OK but I upgraded to a Kendal 170W with an independent heater, much much better. You can't set the specific heat it's just either on or off. It heats up to 60c/140f and it's a significant improvement in cleaning ability. I also use the ultrasonic for other things like cleaning my glasses ;)

Vinegar and warm water, then run it with the heating function on and you good to go. I mostly mix 2 parts water, 1 part vinegar. Works on everything, vaping stuff, household items, bottles glass/plastic, jewelry and even fresh vegetables, wouldn't run it for too long tho lol.

I use the isonic p4810 and while you can purchase cleaners for these, I go the more natural route, even if you would forget to rinse your items (who would tho, but just in case) you wouldn't have to worry, vinegar has not killed anyone yet, or at least I've never heard of it. But side effect, it cleans and keeps ur ultrasonic cleaner clean as well, and removes odor for cases were your ejuice spills or some of your tanks weren't rinsed good enough prior etc.

Thought I threw that out there, even tho I'm not crazy chef or r055co :)

I'm glad you did - I tagged them cause they were the only two off the top of my head I saw talking about them before - what you said is more for me though, a home mix cleaning solution

Does anyone have recommendations on what cleaning unit to get? I'm looking on Amazon and Walmart and am not sure what to get. Thinking I want one with a heater but not sure beyond that. Any help greatly appreciated!

Get one with a heater that has it's own on/off control. The ones that the heat comes on only when you turn on the ultrasonic are pretty much useless.
