Is vaping safe with kids around?

It has already been proven that a room full of vapor is no worse than that same room without it. Secondhand vapor has no effect on anyone except "it looks like smoking". I am courteous to others but I vape around my kids all the time. Makes the house smell nice. If you are against vaping inside around children then make sure you don't use any household cleaners, aerosols, or fragrance oils as they are emitting more harmful chemicals than your vape. JMHO.

New report that would state the opposite is actually true and that it is safe to vape indoors with no effects to others harmful or otherwise:

As always though be courteous to others and don't be a douche.

Hi! I just posted in another thread about my setup, but I have a question that doesn't seem appropriate in that thread. So is it safe to vape with kids around?

I have a juice that has a low nicotine content and I'm wondering if the exhaled vape is safe with kids around the house. Mainly, I'm worried that the exhaled vape still contains traces of nicotine that my son my inhale?

Also, do these vapors stick to furniture such as couches, beddings, etc?
Is cooking safe when kids are around?

Excerpt
A study measuring nicotine residue on surfaces in houses of smokers and vapers reported only negligible levels from vaping, 169 times lower than from smoking.

Basically, it will not hurt the kids, but it is up to you whether you do or not. The only effect it has on my cat, is he watches the vapor swirl in the sun beams. Even when he is IN the vapor, he shows no effects. No sneezing or coughing, like he would with cigarette smoke. In fact, the little monster chases and sniffs vape rings.

Should kids go to concerts, Magic shows, church hell anywhere that uses smoke makers?
Better keep them out of the kitchen also, everything in ejuice is food.

So true! I never smoked around my kids but will and do vape around them. Walking out the door in the Fall hammers their lungs way harder.... my gosh I had them in the neck yard when I mulched the leaves call the cops

Is it just me or do people make a bigger deal over vaping than smoking? At work, I used to smoke and vape when the weather was shitty Id stand under the doors little "awning" I'd guess you call it and smoke. No one said a word or gave a shit. I did the same thing on a rainy day with my vape and got a big lecture about how I had to be 50ft away from the entrance and it was just as bad as smoking.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Same thing happened at my work. A lot of people recently started vaping. They moved the smoking area because the vape was going inside the loading dock doors.

If you childproof ALL of your gear like you have childproofed the rest of your house.

All E-Liquid and DIY components must have childproof caps and stored out of reach of the child. Batteries, charger, and tools out of reach as well and paying special attention never to leave your vape of the moment where kids can grab it.

If all of that is done, I see no reason not to vape around kids and pets as long as you are not chasing clouds all day.

Wow, I posted this question two years ago and I never thought a simple question could bring up such heated discussions amongst the members of this forum.

To those who replied with meaningful opinion, thank you. To this day, I havent vaped in the same room or car as my son is in. As nobody is certain of what ill effects second hand vape has on children, I'd rather be on the safe side.

To those who gave obnoxious retorts and such, maybe you'll understand when (or if) you have your own kids. Oh and yes, I dont allow my son inside the kitchen, at rowdy concerts, or any sort of place wherein he could potentially harm himself since he's still a toddler. As for church, thats a different story. Our church doesnt have smoke machines. If yours does, then more power to you

As a parent, I feel that my kid should be in as safe an environment as can be while he's still young and his body is still developing. I dont see anything wrong with asking and being sure.

I hope this discussion will provide useful information to other parent who have the same question or anyone really, who are in doubt of vaping when kids are around.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed their meaningful and logical thoughts on the matter.

I agree. But it is hard to make people understand that. My wife will not tolerate vaping in the house when she is home. She is convinced it must be bad. Not much choice but to abide by her wishes.

In my country the government is the same as your wife. Over here vaping has been banned from public indoor places, as it is considered smoking tobacco, and, our minister of public health─who also happens to be a physician, BTW─is intolerant/ignorant of rigid scientific data so now we're seeing a lot of people who quit vaping as a result, and who are turning back to cigarettes. Another clear example of how rigid science is rejected is the fact e-liquids that contain nicotine, in order for them to be lawful, must bear a big label the first sentence on which reads, "This product contains the highly addicting substance nicotine." despite every scientist (that is, every sane scientist) knows that nicotine is barely more addicting than caffeine so we're not just talking about demonization, but rather, we're talking demonizations enforced by law. But I'm not complaining. They have this propagandist feature going on right now... it's called, in Dutch, "100 dagen zonder klagen", which means "100 days without complaining". So I'm not going to complain that they won't truly tolerate the fact vaping saves lives... but rather, I'll merely point toward the positive fact, which is that vaping saves lives.

I cannot vape at my Mother-in-laws cause she doesn't like it, but once she tried to tell me not to vape in my own house I told her to get lost! I will do what I want in my own house, if someone does not like it "don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!" LOL

My mom went into local B&M vape shop with me one day. She was wanting me to try various juices and she was right along with me trying them, 'cause she wanted one she would enjoy all herself :) she choose cookie . She does not vape nor smoke the stinkies. My nephew has asthma, when I am around him, he is always putting his whole head in the vape cloud to get the smell or he wants me to blow the vape his way so he can smell it. It has never bothered his asthma, if it did bother his asthma, I would not do it around him. All my family tries to guess what I am vaping on, so far they all have liked what I am vaping on :D

I have a 5 year old and she seee me vaping and knows that I do it but I never directly do it in front of her. I vape in the house and if she comes in my office or bedroom for instance, I stop vaping. If we are all watching movie or having dinner, I don’t vape.

My main concern is her picking up my habits. I watched my dad and uncle smoke cigarettes when I was a little kid and thought it was the coolest thing; couldn’t wait to get my hands on them. I know, they are not the same but I don’t want her putting anything in her lungs but air while she’s under my rule.

I also don’t let her see me having junk food before dinner and so on. As far as I know, from what I’ve read, the second hand effects of vaping are nearly nonexistent but that doesn’t mean I’m comfortable with her being in a vapey room.

Good or bad that's every bodies own opinion, however I think you should have a choice, everything in life can and should be discussed. I mean my husband vapes as well, but if he wouldn't I would find compromises. Next time you have no choice as you say, tell your wife that its easy to get a new one, hell just like vaping gear you can also easy and simple order them online lmao. Maybe not recommended but she might get the hint.

Vaping I quite cool but it is not safe for kids around if the age of kid is very young. Try to vape when the kids are not around.
If you think it's not safe you'd better keep them away from any kitchen.

It is though not the best example, that's the only reason why I don't like to Vape around kids. I have an earlier post where I post findings in 2nd hand Vape, it's actually cleaner than the air outside.

Since there isn't an official study about the effects (at least none that I am aware of), I don't vape around kids. I think it's still too early to determine the long-term effects that vapor inhalation might have on them.

But there are studies that have looked at side stream emissions.

California Department of Health has and I do believe the CDC also has, plus some others. They all found nothing which shouldn't be surprising since everything in juice is food.

It is not safe in case if Kids drink the liquid from the device by which you vape, they can get poisoned with nicotine delivery devices or refills.
If you vape, you should be careful if you can safely do so with your kids at home.
Well you better not have kids around cars for that's much more dangerous cause they might get hurt. You also better keep them away from kitchens due to the dangers. Oh don't take them up an elevator, etc. etc.

Vaping is only as safe with kids around as the person using it, so if you have to ask in my opinion maybe you need to think about, if you should be vaping............

We all should know that young kids like to mimic. In that sense, if your kids play "monkey see, monkey do", then don't vape in front of them. If you put your device down, they might experiment with it. This is why so many kids start smoking. I did.
Personally, I made a leather holster for mine, so I can carry it on my hip. I also don't have children at home.
