Going through so much juice!

I'm a not exactly a new vaper but I feel my question is best left here.
I vape on a SMOK stick V8 and I have noticed I am going through 150 ml of juice in about 5-7 days. That's over $50 a week in just juice!!!! A carton of cigarettes is cheaper than that! My question is why am I going through so much? I'm on a 3 mg nicotine level because I choke on anything higher. I change my coil once every 2 weeks as suggested by my local shop. Am I doing something wrong or am I just not realizing how much I vape? HELP!!!

Since you didn't mention it, Im guessing the tank is not leaking. I believe that unit is paired with a big baby beast tank. Does that come with a quad coil atomizer coil? Are you using that? Quad coils would use more juice than dual coils. Also the beast series are designed to huff out clouds, which means they tend to use more ejuiice. So what I am thinking is get a new tank that uses smaller coils at the same resistance (smok stick is technically a mech mod with safety features) so you have to keep your resistance roughly where the BB Coils are.

This is the main disadvantage of your set up, you can not adjust the wattage to burn less ejuice. With a VW mod, you could lower wattage and reduce the air flow a bit..

Although I hate to say it, the only other option would be to vape less. Sounds like you vape like a chain smoker. lol.
I think I read that you could get an rba (rebuildable) atomizer deck, to build your own coils, which might be your best option. Just make smaller coils at the same resistance, but this would require a bit more effort on your part. Good news is you can make a pair of coils in under 60 seconds and it only costs a few cents per coil. Compare.. 3ft of alien wire from fast tech (about 10 coils worth) for $4.00 (Can) vs $8.00 is it? for premade bb coils.

Now you can correct me if I am wrong regarding the smok stick v8 kit, Im going from memory from what I've read on Smok website. I use drip atomizers and an Ijoy combo rdta (which actually does guzzle ejuice lol) but all told, I go through maybe 180ml per 2 weeks. I use vapormax juice which I get 120ml (2 bottles) for 34.50 tax incl. However, here, a pack of smokes is $17.50 or was 2 yrs ago when I switched. A pack a day at $17.50 is a HELL of a lot more than $50 for 2 weeks vaping. :)

Maybe you could also fill your tank and keep track of how long it takes you to empty the tank. 5ml tank isn't it?

I wish I knew what half this meant! Haha I know I can empty my tank within 1/2 a day depending on what I'm doing! If I'm just sitting at home it's possible to empty it within 2-3 hours but if I'm out and about I only vape when I'm in my car so I use a lot less there! I'll go by my local vape shop and show them this and see what they suggest! Thank you!

What @gbalkam said. Now for the ejuice part, if you are willing to learn, DIY can seriously cut down on the cost of juice for the most part, it'll be expensive getting set up, but afterwards your juice will cost next to nothing.

I'm not even sure where to start! I have a certain flavor I like and I'm afraid I won't be able to recreate it and I'd screw up something ‍♀️

What's the name of the juice? There might be a clone somewhere, if not someone might be able to give you a starting place.

So I need something that isn't a sub ohm? Haha I'm so clueless!
Coils that read 1.0 ohm or above do tend to burn less juice, but it's also a cooler vape. I really like mine in a pretty broad spectrum of between .15 and .35 ohms, but still burn up the juice, nonetheless. But I do make my own, so it isn't an issue. If I had to buy vendor juice though, I'd be broke.

Yeah, sorry.. not much I can do to simplify. SO.. a quick lesson. A regulated mod (the part that holds the battery) has adjustments for power and safety circuits to prevent mishaps. Since you control the wattage (power sent to the coil) you can use any coil on any tank that fits. So a 0.80 coil or 0.50 coil would be easy and use less juice. A Mechanical mod, relies totally on the resistance of the coil to determine how much wattage is drawn. I think the formula is Volts squared divided by resistance = watts. So 3.7 x 3.7 / 0.25 = 55w. or 3.7 x 3.7 / 0.10ohm = 137w. Your resistance determines the wattage. You don't need to worry about that bit, that just explains the next part...
What you have is a mechanical mod with protections built in. These include short circuit protection and a cap to limit how many amps (which limits watts) you can draw. It is much safer than a straight mechanical mod, but less safe and less functional than a full regulated mod.

So in other words.. you can change the tank and coils, but you must remain within the 50w range and within the limitation imposed by the safety chip of your mod.

Some others may be using a different tank, so could tell you which coils they are using. I wouldn't want to tell you to just go buy a new tank and 0.80 ohm coils if your mod wouldn't fire them due to safety circuits.

By the way.. we ALL start out clueless. Knowing your are clueless is the first step. My favorite reply to my posts is "I have been vaping for years, so I am not a noob" always from some guy that has been vaping at 16w on an e-cig that wants to jump face first into mechanical mods. The length of time you have vaped for has nothing to do with how much you know about vaping. I have been driving a car for years.. but that doesn't mean I can rebuild an engine. :)

The price of a carton is cheap for you as here it is over $100! DIY or enter some giveaways for e-Liquids is the only answer to keep the costs down!

With a coilhead atomizer on an unregulated mod probably yes...... higher ohm is how you will reduce wattage..... but the fact is most coilheads are built with regulation in mind... so higher ohm might require MORE wattage.....than Ohms Law based mods provide at a given ohm..

I vape about 5ml a day. 35ml a week. 8 to 12 mg nic.

I use 1.2 to 1.8 ohm coils @ 9 to 14 watts.

So, there are options but they may or may not work for you. I can vape 12mg because my watts are very low.

It's toasted coconut 3 mg nicotine
it shouldn't be hard to find something similar to mix though it may take some testing of various recipes. I was worried about being able to recreate my fave juice when I started diy, now I pretty much never mix the same recipe more than once. I used to pay 30 - 40 dollars per 120ml and go thru 400 - 500 ml per month. I now make my own juice for about $2 per 120 ml.

The Smok Stick V8 uses dual coil units that run at something like .25 ohm. They are made to create lots of clouds. That means they burn up the juice. You have options.
1. Switch to a unit that uses single coils.
2. Find cheaper sources for juice. There are lots of places out there where good juice can be had for $20 for 120 ml.
3. DIY juice.

You might also try finding cheaper places to buy your juice. Online is the cheapest for premade juice 95% of the time, DIY will always be the cheapest option available but requires some work and time. If your ever looking for a new place to get some good vape juice deals, check us out :)

most atomizers/.tanks are designed today to eat juice. Its just the nature of the vape business model. People are willing to spend $1 or more per ml of juice that costs 2-5 cents a ml to make. so to make more money make tanks eat juice. I started on stuff that didnt. but discovered the joys of ones that do eat juice. I have tried going back to stuff that doesn't eat the juice and it doesnt cut it for me. So I make my own juice. I vape between 10-20 mls a day and it costs me about 30-60 cents a day in juice I make myself. are there atomizers that don't eat juice?? Sure but they are a different world from what most stuff being produced today is all about.

I'm just thinking, something like a flavor atomizer, an RDA (no tank, you drip the juice) would also be cheaper and likely even better. A tsunami is a flavor rda. Made specifically to give better flavor and still decent cloud. You would need to build your own coils, you can buy premade spools of wire, clapton or alien for cheap. ($4.00 for 10ft alien? from fasttech) Advantage is you vape at slightly higher resistance. Less heat = less juice used. A 0.30 ohm coil would likely work, and as low as 0.20 ohm. But the big difference is even at 0.20 ohm, you can drip 1 or 1.5 ml (20 to 30 drops) and vape for an hour. (Well it lasts me about an hour). Also with a flavor coil, the vape is thicker and you "pull" slightly longer due to less airflow in flavor tanks. (slightly longer meaning 3.5 seconds vs 2.5) which is still quite a hit. With flavor wire, the wire actually heats slightly slower, since you have a core, that heats a wrapped wire, which then vaporizes the ejuice at a lower temp. Kind of like sucking one peppermint while chewing a 2nd one. I have noticed I use less juice on my RDA than I do with my RDTA combo. Something to consider. Just remember to build within your mods resistance limits.

It also gives you a head start on shinyitis, should you decide to go with a higher power fully regulated mod. (Which would also open up Temp Control options) You wouldn't believe the flavor difference of a clapton coil with a 24ga stainless steel core. :) (single core guys, keep it simple)

Yes, this is me.
