I think I'm going to hold off on ordering the batteries. I have two brand new HG2s that I can sacrifice to my inexperience with unregulated mods.

Am I correct in saying that if I build for around .19-.2, that the HG2's 20A can handle that? Or would that be pushing it a bit too much?

a bit higher would be better, over 0.21

SS would probably be ok, since resistance goes up when you fire it

It could handle it but you're pushing your luck. If you build at 0.25 - 0.30 you'd give yourself a good safety margin. Let Ohm's Law be your friend!

On batteries in squonkers.
I was running 25R's in my Pico Squeezes .34 build. A perfect vape, warm but not hot.
HG2's worked the same.
Tried VTC5A's in them and it was too hot for me.
Went back to 25R's :)

The VTC5A is pretty much the hardest hitting 18650 out.
less voltage drop under load than pretty much any other 18650 out.

Voltage sag at around .2 will be quite noticeable with an HG2.
But yeah around .2 they should not melt down on ya.
But no lower.

I run LG HB2/4/6 in my single 18650 mechs... Short battery life, but a true 30A CDR.

For the rest of my 18650 mods, I have a range of Samsung 25Rs, LG HE2/4s, Samsung 30Qs, and LG HG2s... Most are rated safe to around 20A CDR.

I do have a couple Sony VTV5As, but could not justify the cost to replace the 50 some odd batteries in my mech rotations LOL.

When I really wanna chuck the sick clouds, I have a set of Trustfires... Hey, trust and fire in the name... What could go wrong?

When I was young and dumb, I owned a couple sets of MXJOs, PVTSOs, Brillipowers, AOSOs, and Efests... I still have them... With as many cells as I own, they've all got less than 20 cycles... But I only use them in older 60ish watt devices.

@Arthur-VU hah! I got peeved and raced off to the PO: sure enough, the package was there - never sent out.

Built up a Triton and chucked it in a clone-lantis to test.. Flavor was actually at least as good as the Rose v3. Pretty impressive for a buck.

Glad you finally got it and that you are having a good time with the Triton RTA.

Sorry to everyone for the off-topic to squonking below, please indulge me :)

I've never tried a Rose v3. Who makes it?

Also, which clone-lantis tank? I've been thinking about pickup up something that takes the Altantis and Triton coils, but there are many compatible tanks that use similar coils, and I am lost amongst this spectrum of choices. Please advise.

The DNA 75 goes through the batteries, especially if you are using anything but straight wattage mode

I'm not sure for the battery life that other folks might be getting, but for me on the DNA75 in the Inbox v3, I am running a 26g 7-wrap, spaced kanthal 1.11 Ohm build in the Nudge 22, and on an LG HG2 fresh off the charger (LUCv6), at 22.5w, and I am getting 2.5-3 refills of the squonk bottle (7ml x 3 = 21ml) before I get the 'weak battery' warning.

I'm pretty happy with that. Especially since this pair (unmarried) of LG HG2s were purchased in March 2016, and still charge full up to 100%, and I never have pushed them past ~35w (or on a build lower than 0.35 Ohms) in that time.

I also rotate in a pair of the Samsung 25R5s (green) which have 500mAh less capacity, purchased in March 2017, and that is where the 2.5 refills happens, so they last for ~3.5ml less juice at 22.5w on a 1.11 Ohm build.

@JuicyLucy Lucy, what kind of jucy consumption vs. battery life at what Ohms, are you getting on your DNA75?

Which mod is it?

One of my all time favorite Atlantis compatible tanks is the Eleaf Melo 2. The twist to fill port is very nice. The Tobeco Supertank line is also nice, but the AFC spins making removing the bottom of the tank a chore at times, and the DT is proprietary.

For Atlantis RBAs, I personally think the Triton is the worst. Eleaf makes one, and the Anyvape V2 (also rebranded as a Project Subohm Saucecode) also works.

There's an entire thread dedicated to Atlantis compatible tanks and coils...

@minimag03 ...

Steam Engine has a Battery Drain calculator tab here: http://www.steam-engine.org/batt.html

If you click on the Battery Presets pull-down, and select LG HG2 as your battery, and then put in the resistance, it will show you the amp draw, how much headroom you have for safety, as well as the equivalent wattage output, and also approximately how many puffs you might get, as well as some other cool info.

Sure it may not be perfectly accurate to the math if you do it yourself, but if you want a quick reference, and/or are lazy, this is a decent starting point to try and keep safe with whichever battery cells you have on a mech.

For my own paranoia towards safety, I'd never try a mech build lower than 0.25 Ohms on an LG HG2 (I actually never have, only used the Samsung 25R5s or the Ijoy 5-leg 20700), which is going to draw 16.8 amps and 70w on a freshly charged cell, but due to voltage sag from internal resistance, and Vdrop from the device, you are likely to actually get something like 55w at the coil.

Of course, all of the above is to my preference and tolerance for risk of battery or mod failure, and I know folks build lower and want to look at max pulsed current as opposer to CDR for their safety threshold, and I will not tell others how to vape, to each his own. :)

I try to follow very closely everything Mooch says, and pray that my batteries are not defective from the factory, which nobody can really protect against.

Kidney puncher had the clone dirt cheap.. Under $10.

The Rose V3 was an Eden mod (UK), and cloned by several including SXK and IVOGO. I may end up getting some tank more modern for this, but I wanted a dirt cheap testbed.

Looks like the triton coils fir anything atlantis coils fit, and there is a coil-replacement list here on VU I was reading last night - that suggests dozens of tanks.

@shawn.hoefer Yeah, I knew about the other RBA's, but... $1 - and vertical coils.. It was worth it just to see how it was designed, made and worked ;-)
I agree.

I too grabbed the Triton RTA specifically to try vertical coils in it.

I am pleased with it thus far in my minimal tests.

Maybe it's a silly thing, but I was also impressed with the presentation in the little metal tin.

Yeah. the packaging was neat, clean, organized. The documents inside were actually useful and legible/readable.
Neat little kit - plopped right into my recoiling box with all the other bits&bobs ;-)

You would be very hard-pressed beat the price, (and thus the value). Of course, they screw you on shipping, and then I had to drive to the PO... Thus it goes.

I was referring to the Inbox for the DNA75, was getting about 8 hours on it at .8 ohm; the DNA75C was a Therion squonker, which I no longer own. I still have the Inbox but have not used it since June

I've never tried a Rose v3. Who makes it?

I got mine (authentic) here Eden Mods Rose3 Tank

It is a tricky bastard with that "tension wire" but is an exquisite MTL draw and is simple to build

I personally dislike the proprietary DT you must use as it doubles as juice control, but it was worth getting used to

At first I was disappointed with the flavor, but later filled it with a juice I found too rich for squonking: knocked it out of the ballpark, perfect

It will leak if you leave it on its side  Not a genuine piss, but a little dribble

No idea how the clone compares in this case

Has anyone here tried shyndo's mango sticky rice? The concentrate is available at ecigexpress, just add vg, pg and nicotine. I just made it and it's delicious freshly shaken!
I get the mango upfront with a little coconut and the sticky rice at the end. It has a little sweetness to it but it's not overdone.

I'm not sure which ones work and which dont. I know the kindbright entheon fits perfect and the sxk does not fit at all. Here's a pic of the kindbright entheon deck with wasp cap, I'm using a black o ring to clean up the tiny gap in the cap. The silver you see is from a raised 510 plate on my mod, not the deck (custom dna 167 squonk). Have a beauty ring on the way to hide the 510 plate and o ring.

Tried it. But it does not work with the SXK thanks anyway!

How does it not work on SXK Entheon? I bought one and never used it... Just sold it. Cap fit and looked like airflow lines up properly.

I can report the Wasp cap definitely works on the authentic. Rocking it right meow.

FYI: My Flav Ti for sale in the Hardware section!!

What I have found is you take off the top knurling piece of the barrel so you can see things real good. Then place the coil where you can see only the top half of it through the slots. Don't put the knurling piece back on until you get the coil placed where you want it. The flavor is amazing when you get it right....

Thanks for the tip.

This means the coil legs have to be really short. Just missing the deck. Perhaps a 2.5mm coil will work better than a 3mm.

Thanks for the help with batteries guys.

I'm looking at single coil, squonk friendly atomizers. I have a Wasp to use on it for now, but I cannot seem to stop its condensation from working its way onto my lips.

So far I'm considering the Nudge 22, Pulse 22, GR1, and possibly the B2k. I'd love to get a Krma but that's going to take awhile. So I'd like to find an RDA that won't give me a bath every time I take a puff. Any suggestions or insights?

I thought the engravings were to wide(thick) and should of been more representing of his previous versions...I also don't think he will ever do the white or Ultem in that design, not because people wouldnt want it, but for it doesn't fit the dark theme and black hides how close he is from penetrating through the delrin with that deep if engraving.

I found that hard-packing, (what I would swear is waaay too much cotton), into the wasp coils absolutely solved the spit and juice-in-mouth issues.. Before that I had despaired and tried a long DT such as this, which worked OK.

Like already stated the B2k, it comes with a decent spit back protector. Only works with the 810 dt's though. Entheon is also a good choose since its a little taller and will give you less spit just due to that.
If your running lower ohm builds it's kinda hard not to get spit back though especilly on mech's and a fresh squonk.

At less than $18 each on FT, that’s approaching Wasp affordability. Why not?!

maybe for the same reason one should not buy a Frankenclone squonker from FT.

Watched a sqonk RDA rewiew from Todd today.
Not bad except when he squonked it with the top off I saw juice running down the air inlet ramps, bound for the outside.
he indicated that one could learn to live with that....
At close to $100? No way in hell.

The Frankenclone is generally accepted as shitty and was right from the get go. The Tobhino has been well-reviewed right along with the Gas Mods GR1, but at less than half the price.

I’m sure the Wasp wasn’t your be all end all before you took the dive and tried one out. Same deal here.

Mmmmm, no that wasn't exactly what I said, that was me over squonking, I also said I had no issues with over squonking but as with any RDA you need to learn exactly how much pressure you need before over squonking.

95% of what I say is usually off the mark or total rubbish but on this one, I'll stand my ground.

Still love you though

Eh, it doesn't hurt to try different things. Preferences vary.

I know this isn't popular opinion around these parts but I HATE the wasp. Some people love it, and I'm glad they do. But for me it's absolute garbage. And again for me, the Tobhino is pretty nice. It's not what I'd call the best RDA or even close to it, but given the choice between it and the wasp, I'll pick it every time. For my preferences, the wasp is very near the very bottom of the list on RDA's I have used. After a decade of squonking, that's quite a few. The Tobhino is around the middle.
