Kanthal is made in India, China and from many other worldwide suppliers no one company alone makes it.

ok no idea what the source of that is. and it shows nothing. the magnet never goes close to the kanthal wire itself, it is blocked by the spool plastic and nichrome is not magnetic

The magnet definitely went close enough to the Kanthal spool to react if it was Kanthal. Did you see how far the magnet was when the screwdriver reacted? And that’s only 30’ of wire on the spool, definitely light enough to be pulled when he put the magnet near the spool.

I really don’t care though... I don’t use kidney Puncher wire. I was asked about another person who came forward and I posted a video of one of them. There were a few other people but I don’t think they uploaded videos yet

"We are sorry you were not satisfied with your order. Mistakes in our warehouse do happen every once in a while and we do everything we can to correct them without delay. We are sorry you didn’t communicate this problem to us, before releasing this video and we are working to rectify this situation. From the evidence in this video, it appears to be a mislabeling issue. We will get back to you ASAP with a resolution. Thank you."

To me this part sounds like they were going to sweep it under the rug and not even mention it to the rest of the vaping public:

"We are sorry you didn’t communicate this problem to us, before releasing this video"

What do you guys think it sounds like?

Exactly!

This is fucking HUGE and people just don't understand the ramifications yet.

This could very well lead to KP having to recall (or refund) EVERY spool of wire they have sent out since the beginning of 2018

That could be enough to bankrupt a medium sized business.

Mistakes do happen absolutely ...the problem for me in this statement is; if its happened before what was done to stop it?, and why does it keep getting repeated?

If a company isnt trying to right its past mistakes then they are either incompetent, or have actively made a decision to ignore/accept the risk

....the latter includes weighing up the cost of punishment vs likelehood of it occuring and then accepting it

I know it’s just a little thing but whenever I’ve ordered wire from stealthvape in the uk they always ship a kanthal spool with a magnet attached to it (to aid in keeping the wire from unspooling in a jumbled mess)

The other benefit of this is; if you get enough of them you can use them for coil building as well to keep the cores flat, since they are the flat rectangle variety...

This case recently happened in the United States setting precedent for future cases.:

A guy built his own device (mech mod, rda, etc...) from various parts then bought a battery from a vendor.

The guy happened to blow a few teeth out because he was too stupid to practice battery safety so he got a slick lawyer and sued.

Guess who he sued?

The vendor who sold him the battery!!!

It didn't matter to the judge in the least that he built his own frankenmod.

Guess how much he won?

Over TWO MILLION DOLLARS!!!

So what do you think would happen if someone who got real bad hives from their nickel allergy ended up needing to go by ambulance to the emergency room with their throat swollen shut?

How much you think that person would get for hospital bills, pain and suffering, etc... If they either got the same slick lawyer the other guy had or another slick lawyer that recognizes precedent?

A decade ago I’d say only I’m America but we are now following suit for this kind of thing and it’s already getting ridiculous.

For some it’s a way to hit the motherload and screw the system, there’s even no win no fee organisations sprouting up like fucking weeds

I don’t blame the guy for doing it ...he has been allowed to by society, media, government

However that battery wasn’t mislabelled ...different ball game

nothing on his youtube channel ... so leads me to suspect something is up. Maybe KPs lawyers got in touch and his lawyer suggested keeping quiet until all is resolved, or this was all just a publicity stunt or he's merely trying to take the high road.

Either way I think it was pretty irresponsible the way he did this and has not posted any update

I think he didn't post anything out of consideration to the vast majority of his suscribers, whose attention right now is being focused solely on who they are going to ask to the junior prom, I'm sure once they get their first handjob ,he will post an episode in his continuing soap opera.

LOL. People crack me up.

Jai Haze is a douche. There is nothing else to say about that.

The fear mongering, as usual in the vaping forum, is hilarious. Nobody is going to die if they are allergic to nickel and vape on a coil that has a bit.

Does no one on this forum weld? There are thousands and thousands of welders. All welding with some nickel. It's likely some have developed a nickel allergy. The amount of fumes they huff while welding makes what a vaper may get off a coil seem very paltry indeed. You don't end up in the hospital if you weld with a nickel allergy. :giggle:

I've never even heard of such a thing and I was a welder for years. Nobody ever asked anybody, "Before you try welding, are you allergic to nickel? It could kill you!" :giggle:

Now, I have been sick from welding. But I huffed allot of fucking fumes in 8-12 hours. Some people get metal fume fever, but that's not considered an allergy and they don't die.

Not die but have a reaction. I think the main thing here is the purchase is for kanthal and that is not what was given. On top of that people could have an allergy. If I purchased a nut free cookie and received a coke with nuts without being notified. I may not die but if I'm allergic to nuts....

Yeah, I'm really trying to leave the personal, kneejerk reactions aside now, and focus on the issue itself. I for one am not even sure if those spools have been proven to be mislabled or not, because nickel can become magnetized. Really hoping for some kind of update, response, something. Mainly to find out if there is even a mislabelling issue at all, because as of now I'm not convinced.

If I ordered a 2" nail and got a 1 1/2" nail, I'd want that fixed. That's not what I addressed in my post. If the wrong wire was sent, it certainly should be remedied.

I addressed the hysterical and over exagerated claims by some posters that a person could be killed or hospitalised by the mix up. It simply is not true. It's just hype and drama.

A peanut allergy is deadly. People with those types of allergies carry epipens. A nickel allergy is more like hay fever or being allergic to cats as far as scale. A person might feel a little ill or get a rash. They don't carry epipens.

Just because it's an allergy, doesn't make it a big fucking deal. It's just a wire mix up. Nobody is going to sue a flower shop that mistakenly sent the wrong flowers and gave somebody a stuffy nose. :giggle:

there are 3 issues with this in my mind
1. did they send the wrong wire? Probably and I would think a larger company like KP would try to remedy that
2. Jai's over reaction and unprofessional way of handling the situation- totally uncalled for imho - it could have been handled much better
3. the bullshit with people dying from nickel allergies. If you vaped enough on nickel wire with a nickel allergy that it actually killed you....dude wtf didn't you notice like years ago that vaping was causing you some issue and instead of researching or quitting vaping you vaped enough to kill you? Because I for one believe it would take an incredible amount of nickel fumes to kill someone with a nickel allergy and they would notice some issue way before it became life threatening

Right right, they did respond there, missed that sorry! I guess now I'm interested to see what their remedy was, and if this has been a widespread issue (if entire batches/ bulk spools were mislabled earlier in the chain)

Been a week more or less, I'd like to see more info revealed

Maybe not die, but like the Fla guy and his 2mil$.
With courts general negativity towards vaping and viewing vaping as manufacturer/supplier on the hook for safety, I can see it now...
...they said it was kanthal , but it was nickel and I'm allergic to nickel .
I view the video rant as blame placing, and what he meant by KP making it right wasn't about replacing the wire. They of course will, and have to, do that.
Better off not ranting about it and just deal with it. I think ranting amplifies vape negativity, and as a supplier through your store publishes guilt. He needs to man up and own some responsibility.

I'm nor sue if you can set the rules to what was given didn't cause a severe reaction. That sounds a little ridiculous actually. Like I hit you with my car.. and then ask but did you die? Lol. I mean there have been people who sued a fast food establishment for making them fat. Don't dive into the outcomes of those cases because that's not the point.

Btw. If your not severely allergic to something sometimes it causes the irritation over time. So for example if you've been vaping nickle thinking it's kanthal you may notice a sore throat or swollen tongue. But over time ur gradually gets worse. Thinking it maybe an allergy you may eliminate many thing like pg, flavoring, menthol, or even change your toothpaste. But you know what you wouldn't change.. the won't because it's "kanthal". I don't think they're terrible people at kp but it really is a really big issue. That's why things that are known to cause allergies usually have to be labeled. Like you know if it's nichrome or nickle.. ir shills just say that.

As I read the posts I am just laughing since I doubt JH has a Lawyer on retainer he could contact on the weekend and he might have gotten a Cease and Desist letter which shut him up
Idk if hee has an attorney. But I just think it funny people think ours okay to sell something labeled incorrectly.

Yes, I;d love to hear what KP discovered, and what they are doing to prevent and rectify.

Yes, I'd love to hear what Jai heard from them and how HE IS GOING TO TEST/CONFIRM SHIPMENTS.

Yes, some folks are actively trying to muck up the arena with bullshit and have an agenda of Federal/Legislative nonsense.

I think I'll just buy from temco or china - realizing what both mean. ftw and it's idiots.

One persons inconclusive assumption as to what metal the wire is made of does not confirm what it is.

I think that's wht more concerning to me. Ive had these concerns not relatedd to just kp. But I for have tools to test metal. I would like confirmation that if I purchase SS it will be just that. Although the magnetic test rules out kanthal.. because iron had to be magnetic? Right? But if not what in the world was it?

There's another way to test. I have a nickel allergy and have done this with pre-made coils that come with rebuildables. Install the coils and pulse at low wattages to see if they color. If the coils color I take them out and pitch them because Kanthal A1 does not color and Kanthal D doesn't color as much as wire with nickel. Meg could confirm the Kanthal D better than I ;). Did this with the braided coils that came with the Zeus rta. They colored and I pitched them.

Nickel is actually magnetic, like iron. It just depends on the alloy and how the molecules are arranged. Some alloys are magnetic always, some never, and some can actually become magnetized after being exposed to other magnetic forces which align the electrons/poles

This is all pointless blabber though because I have no idea if nichrome can become magnetized or not.
