USPS Shipping failure.

FT package with 3x Pico Squeeze sitting in Chicago, IL hub for 5 days. Then sitting in Elk Grove, IL for 2 days.

Still there today, when 'Delivery Expected on SAT July 28' and it's not even in the same state as me today (<--this date), so I am now waiting, and frustrated...

I don't mean to rant, but needed to vent to a (hopefully) sympathetic audience. :sadpanda:

Maybe some good news!

FT package with the 3x Pico Squeeze v1...

Tracking now shows:

"Expected Delivery on Monday 30 July 2018 by 8:00pm"

and

"Your item arrived at the Post Office at 6:58 am on July 30, 2018"

But not yet "Out for delivery" as of 8:20am, but I am hopeful it comes today.

YAY! The Pico Squeeze's have landed!

:vapemail:

I have an original Pico 75 regulated mod, but dayum, these Pico Squeeze are TINY, especially with either the Wasp Nano or Nudge 22 on top!

However, both the Wismec Luxotic silicone bottles and the included Pico plastic squonk bottles absolutely stink with like a burnt plastic smell. I dont have an ultrasonic cleaner, but I rinsed out with Dawn dish soap while scrubbing the inside with a q-tip, and that did not remove the smell, so I then tried some 91% isopropyl and vigorously shook it up a few times, rinsed with water, and repeated 3x, and STILL there is this nasty smell.

I may have to chuck these bottles completely if I cannot get the smell out.

I wonder if I should complain to FT or Eleaf/Wismec that all of these bottles are unusable even after trying to clean them.

Does anyone have any ideas? Should I rinse them with white vinegar and then leave it in for a while?

Thanks for the reply. I will try that.

Also, for the silicone bottle to fit all the way in and not protrude, causing the little bottom door not to sit flush, do you remove the sliding cylindrical silicone gasket from the metal feeding tube?

I took mine off and with some twisting and pushing, got the silicone bottle deeper inside and seems to seal well around the outside of the collar at the top of the bottle since there is also another silicone gasket up under the 510. It seems to squonk fine and no leaking, but I'm going to dump this juice and try the extended ISO bath...

The way i seen to do it,which is how i did mine,is leave the sliding gasket thing on there, and remove the the silicone ring that is all the way in the top.It comes out very easy with a pair of tweezers, then the sliding part fits right inside the Wismec bottle.

Ah-hah!

THAT^ was what I should have done. I recalled seeing a video of somebody removing SOMETHING, and thought it was the slide-y part, but the other 'outer' gasket makes more sense since when I took the silicone bottle off the whole tube was dripping juice all over the place. However, I suspect that with the silde-y gasket intact, it would sort of squeegee the juice down into the bottle when you pull the bottle down and out.

I am going to reverse mine to match yours now while the bottles are soaking with the 91% ISO...

Thank you very much for posting that, and it makes much more sense to do it that^ way because it seals the INSIDE of the collar against the squonk tube, and is also likely going to be way less messy in the future....

Took me boiling them and scrubbing the insides with baking soda to fully rid the stank

I wonder if putting the bottles in a vacuum chamber for a while would remove odors?

I didn't remove anything to use the Luxotic bottle. I just push the bottle down on the edge of a table or countertop to squeeze it in the last few millimeters. The bottom cover fits back on no problem.

I've used: isopropyl, vodka, peroxide, dawn - and bleach. Persistence.

Thanks to everyone offering suggestions.

I tried the 91% ISO for an hour, and then let them dry out, and still had the stank.

Next I inverted the silicone bottle inside-out (taking off the collar, and pushing in the bottom with my pinky up INTO the bottle like rolling on a condom such that the OUTSIDE was now on the inside), and using a paste made by adding baking soda to the Dawn dish soap and a little water, using a toothbrush, scrubbed it all down like it had to be sterilized for a surgical implant. Rinsed it off clean and turned the bottle right-side out, and repeated on the outside and then dried with a hair dryer on low, and STILL had the stank.

So now, both bottles are FILLED with a thick and viscous slurry paste of baking soda and water (almost like toothpaste), all the way to the top, and I will let it sit overnight.

Thanks I will try that next time. I removed the upper gasket, but did not like the fact that now the electronics inside were all exposed to potentially getting wet. I tried to put the gasket back in and it was a real bitch to get it in there. I ended up taking the whole thing apart (Oy, on 'day one' no less) and do NOT recommend this as getting the switch button and the board back in without breaking anything is VERY VERY difficult due to the super-tight fit, but I did get it back together and it fires fine still.

Yes, I did get the upper gasket back in and it is intact as it was new out of the box.

I'm going to leave the gaskets in and when the bottles are free of the stank, I will see if I can get the silicone bottle to play nice and go inside a little deeper like you have mentioned here.

silicone bottles will absorb odors, however I suspect that there is some plastic mixed in with the silicone to give more firmness and rebound, etc than pure silicone.
This stuff mixed in is what is giving off the odor and may not be cureable?

I'm not sure what it's composed of other than supposedly 'silicone'.

There was that video a while back from Eli Juicy Jones about the silicone bottles where he was saying that when you pinch and crease it, if there are white marks in the creases, that there are additives and the bottle is not pure silicone.

I think these are not pure, since when I inverted the bottle inside out and there was stress on the silicone, there were definitely white marks in the creases, but if I pinched it and creased it, I could not really see them, but turning the bottle inside-out put a lot more stress on the material than I applied with my hands during the test, so I'm going with the idea that these are some kind of blended material unless I learn otherwise...

I am hoping that the bicarb paste that I put inside will extract the smell out of the silicone and into the bicarb paste, which I can then rinse out....tomorrow and see.

Whenever I get new silicone bottles, I clean them and put them with caps off, on a shelf and let them air out for a couple weeks...no smell.
Thanks for the reply :)

I was hoping to use the Pico Squeeze right away, but if it's gonna take more weeks of waiting for them to air out and off-gas the smell, I will be quite disappointed as my expectations were otherwise.

I'm going to run some spare bottles I have through the USC tonight... do 5-6 passes with 2-3 in straight isopropyl.

I know this is old news and not exciting- but going to say it anyway; because I’m an ass.

Those Squonk refill bottles -ROCK!

Just got a vandyvape bottle and I’ve been squonking the hell out of my boxer just so I can use the botttle. There is something childishly titillating about refilling this without making a mess.

That's the one thing I never did try/buy in my squonking journey. I guess I kind of forgot about them.

Once you use them, its hard to go back to filing bottles the old way

Same here. I assumed taking the rda off wouldnt be any easier than just taking the bottle out. Sounds like i'm wrong about that.

You could just do what my GF does. If i'm not around to fill her bottle, she squeezes the bottle, dumps juice into the juice well and sucks the juice into the bottle :giggle:
