New to RDAs

Ive been vaping for a year now and i never tried RDAs or coil building and i feel like its time to do that but i dont know where to start. Im going to use prebuilt coils, i saw that there are several types of them but i dont know whats the difference. Each type has a different resistance, so how can i know what would be the best wattage to use on a specific coil? Also i dont know which prebuilt coils are better than others and which cotton is best.
By the way is it safe to build (or wick im not sure) the coil on the vape kit? I saw in some videos they were firing the wires before putting the cotton, is it safe to do that on any kit? I have a Revenger X.
Can anyone help with all the details? Thanks.

What do you use now?
Tank? Coil? Resistance? Power setting?

I'd definitely check out some YouTube videos for beginner builds. Also bookmark steam-engine.org or get an app for your phone called vape tool. They will help you with suggested wattage for your builds. As well as tell you how many wraps and all after putting in your wire types. Ohms law is a must if you'll be working with mechanical mods. But you're not at the moment so you're ok there. Most people these days use cotton bacon. I do as well. Lately I've been using organic Japanese cotton. Little square pads. Must be organic though. No bleaches or dyes. The firing the coil before cotton is to make sure the coil is heating correctly. From the inside out. As stated though YouTube will be a huge help. I'd mimic the coils you're already used to in the tanks. Like if you're use to .5 then shoot for that

Yeah well ive been watching several youtube videos but i post questions and no one answers. anyway i wont be wrapping the coils myself, im not gonna go this deep yet coz i saw that with each wrap the resistance changes and stuff like that so im gonna use the premade ones for now.
you mentioned making sure the coil is heating correctly, is it safe to do that on my kit? also do u recommend any RDAs and prebuilt coils? Thanks alot.

So, like wtmk said, try and stay around that.
As for material choice; I personally prefer ss. I buy my wire from advanced vape supply. They sell everything from premade coils to spools of Clapton wire. I buy the spoiled wire and wrap the coil myself, it’s a little more economical that way for me.
For cotton I use Japanese cotton pads-cheap and nothing special.
For rdas I’m a little out of touch. Ive been using a goon 1.5, dotmod24 and recoil 1 for the past 2 years.
The new drop dead or dead rabbit look like some pretty nice rdas to start with and easy to build on.
Remember to be sure and stick with ohms law and steam engine.
If you want a 0.2 you need to 2, 0.4 ohm coils.

This is the cotton I use

Yes it's safe to pre heat your coils on your mod. I usually turn the wattage down some but it's to make sure there are no hot spots in the coils. Never used AVS but I've heard great things about them. Best rdas on the market are really your opinion. The goons are pretty good. Everyone loves them. I use a lot of single coil rdas for squonking but my duals are goons.

I couldn’t think of any “easy” single coils rdas. I stick with my hadaly, but it’s not the easiest to learn on. I would have thrown it out the window if it were my first.
Can you think of any that are?
Nudge?

thanks a lot. yes i was thinking of getting the drop dead rda too.
and about sticking with ohms law, thats why i decided to get the premade coils, i mean they tell u the resistance of each one so i guess its safer, isnt it?

Pulse was really easy. Especially once you get the first coil leg cut. From there on you just match up the coil and cut the same length. Then drop it in and tighten.

Ahh the pulse in my long list of wants

Well, they’ll give you an approximate. You still want to make sure all is well with an ohm meter or regulated mod.
I’m not so sure it’s so much safer as it is, easier. Lol

Yes it is safer but I would still check the resistance on your mod before firing it up to make sure the company is correct. Haven't heard of that happening but just in case. Human error is always a possibility. Then all you have to do is preheat and make sure it heats from inside out. Then wick and juice. You'll get the hang of it. When I installed my first coil someone on FB gave me a patriot rda. He had one coil installed and I put the other one in. I was so excited I got it to work. All I can say is read read read. Any questions and someone here can help

Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalksorry as stated. Maybe not safer but easier. Sorry about that.

well yes, but i mean whats the difference u get while vaping? for example does the dual coil produce more clouds and flavor?

For me it's more clouds less flavor on the dual. The single rda Chambers are smaller so you get more flavor. Most people use them for squonking. I've got 2 I use for dripping while testing new flavors.

You can still get great flavor from a dual. But you have to mind your ohms when using duals. Half the resistance of a single coil. .4 single is .2 duals

dual coil work in such a way that it’s ohms law in parallel.
One single coil resistor(coil) of 0.4 ohms is a total of 0.4 ohms of resistance.
2 or dual coil at 0.4 ohms is a total resistance of 0.2 ohms. This also means that you require more power to push those coils.

I’ve gotten just as good a vape off of a single coil as a dual coil by adjusting my build.
The problem I have running say a single coil on a goon is the empty space in the rda causes it to be turbulent. Whereas the hadaly or wasp the airflow is smooth.

I have some ohms law information and what not here:

First off the best vape is the one you enjoy and keeps you off cigarettes
Is the the dual battery 220w mod?

If so, whatever you want to run on it. But then we’re back to your first question.- try to build something around what you’re used to and go from there.

I would say try that pulse 24 and start with a single coil around a 0.2 and then try building it in dual around a 0.18-0.2.

So long as the dual coils don’t touch you’ll be good.
Watch a few you tubers build it to get a better idea.

When I started out I started with the video's on youtube, and just started trying to build different builds from different videos. I know its a lot to take in at first, but if you stick it out, and keep trying you will find some builds that you will love. I started just like you and now I have multiple devices because I like to have multiple builds throughout the day.
