Swallowing problem..?

Hello! I hope I posted this in the correct category and if not, please excuse my ignorance.
During spring, after smoking half a pack of Marlboro Reds in an hour, I started having something like a lump in my throat. I am not sure if it's a lump or not but to keep things simple, we'll leave it this way.
I gave up smoking 2 months ago, started vaping 3 months ago. I only vape now but the problem is that the lump is still here inside my throat. Sometimes it goes away by itself, sometimes I cough and it disappears but when I take another puff.. here it is again.
Drinking water helps diminishing it but it's really annoying since I have to actively think about swallowing (obviously not all the time) and rarely does food have a hard time passing through.
Smoking withdrawal? I don't think so, I had it while being a smoker and I didn't smoke less when I found it.
PG allergy? I don't know.. my liquid ratio is 50/50 but cheap liquids seem to really disturb my throat while good ones make it appear when I vape a lot.
Cancer? I wouldn't think so, I only smoked for 2 and a half years. I'm 20 now. My mouth tissues are clean, I have no other health related issues.
I also had asthmatic bronchitis from 14 to 16 but never had any problems smoking.
Any ideas of what could it be? Anybody experiencing/-ed this before?
Thanks in advance!

PS: I used to smoke 1 pack a day and when rolling tobacco, it would be less than that.

Welcome to VU and congrats on quitting the cigarettes despite the odd issue. Some people react differently to VG and PG. Might take a look at the liquids that do not give you issues and see what the ratio is of PG/VG and shoot for that when looking for liquids.

Welcome @Lone_Dawg and I hope you enjoy your stay~!

I do not see any mention of seeing a Qualified Medical Professional about this lump in your throat but that is what I recommend. I sincerely hope you do not have Cancer and pray you don't but just because you only smoked for a couple of years doesn't mean anything. When I was in my teens a friend got throat cancer and he wasn't a smoker for very long either.

I just remembered that the swelling thing only happens when vaping MTL. If I do the direct lung inhale, I only feel a slight discomfort, something like muscle tiredness. I usually vape MTL because of the throat hit and with vaping,well... I am a throat hit chaser so maybe it's a sign that my throat just doesn't like that.
For example, right now, I'm fine and I only vaped directly into the lungs for the past few hours...

Buddy...seriously, lump feelings in the throat is nothing to ignore. Take a trip to the ER if u have too, but please don't just assume it is gonna go away.

I'm going to take an educated guess that your trachea is possibly irritated/inflamed from all the stinkies in that short period and it just hasn't had time to heal with the constant vaping. Also you offered MTL hits cause more issues which is another clue that it is trachea related. More muscle, and cartilage that supports the trachea at work with a MTL hit.

But, as a nurse I'm concerned that it is still there after 3 months, unless you just vape a shit ton...lol.

Better safe than sorry bud, go see a Dr.

I'm wondering what happens when you drink things from a straw... especially something like a thick milkshake? Because it's the same action as smoking, or vaping MtL, the same kind of suction. Could be just some weird muscular issue... But I have to agree with @czombie about seeing a doc... that's probably the only way you'll be able to track it down.

And yeah, gratz on ditching the smokes! A lot of us had this or that weird physical thing crop up when ditching smokes/starting to vape, but it's well worth whatever you need to get thru, to make vaping pleasant -- that's the real secret of vaping being a good substitute for smoking, it's just better!

Welcome!

Thank you all for the replies and congrats to you all who quit or is quitting smoking. I vaped less today, direct lung hits and my throat feels like during a cold and the neck/throat muscles feel really tired and I only feel some discomfort there, no coughing and the lump feeling is gone.
I'm going to the doctor tomorrow. I have a feeling it's stress related.

@Lone_Dawg Welcome to VU...

What ever you do, please go get checked out by a Dr or a ears nose throat specialist.
If you have to wonder, at least go to set your mind to ease.
No one on line can help with a diagnoses for your issue.

At least once checked out, you will have an understanding of what is going on with your lump you have had since before vaping.

Just came from the doctor. I explained everything to her and she said it's just an irritation. She says it's from nicotine since I keep having it while vaping. She told me to eliminate nicotine from the e-liquid or at least vape less/lower the nicotine concentration. She also said that my respiratory system is on the sensible side so the best thing I could do would be to quit vaping.
She examined my throat and the irritation is from the larynx. She also examined if it's a pulmonary problem but it's not. Thank God!
A proper doctor check was really worth it and the good news is that there's no lump in there.

But you were a smoker before, yes? You just have to figure out if quitting vaping is going to make you susceptible to relapsing to smoking. If it is, then keep vaping, because any sensible doctor should know that vaping is less harmful than smoking.

Glad you got some good news! :) :) :)
