I started vaping in October of 2016. The first day I vaped I stopped cigarettes completely.
Then this past May I was going to Thailand for a month and I found that vaping is dodgy at best there. I kind of resigned myself that I'd probably smoke again, even though I brought vape gear. In the month there I saw only one person vaping. The police there can be very arbitrary and I have personal experience of that. I decided I just didn't want to take any chances because they can and have screwed some people for vaping.
So, I started smoking again. The first day I went through half a pack. Very quickly I was up to 1.5-2 packs a day, which was more than I ever smoked before. I then went to Sri Lanka and met my boys there and continued smoking. My boys were disappointed in me, but I didn't pay much heed to them. I returned in mid July and immediately cut down to 5-6 per day. I wanted to quit but I just couldn't get past those few per day.
My wife was very understanding and said I'd quit when I was ready.
I had my last cigarette on October 3 (the day I entered the military...you don't forget shit like that). The first few days were tough but I made it. It's now the 9th day and I feel fine. I don't feel the need for one any longer and I've been coughing up the nasty stuff for a few days as my lungs are clearing out again. I certainly smell better. The wife and kids are very pleased as well.
I see this message as a PSA. Sure I started again, but I never doubted I could stop again. Now I need one of those counters on the bottom of my posts, the ones that count days and cigarettes. Anyone got a link to share?
Cheers!
