My girlfriend just called me to let me know that she had her Capo sitting on the table at a meeting a few minutes ago and it started firing on its own. She said that she could not get it to stop until she took the battery out.

We both, regardless of the voltage cap, loved our mods. Between the two of us we have several squonker mods so no huge loss for us to have to toss these, but I am extremely disappointed nevertheless. My poor gf had her Smok Alien catch fire in her pocket months ago, although it did get wet earlier in the day and we have both learned a lot about safety during this time, there was absolutely nothing wrong with her ijoy mod. Mine has been dropped 3 times and seems to work fine, however, I have no faith in it now after this event.

Make what you want of this folks, but I ask you to consider removing the battery when you are not with your Capo, or when you sleep.

No problem. I truly hope this is an isolated incident.

I should also clarify that she did not claim that it fired past the 10 second (or whatever) limit that the board features. She removed the battery cap before the time out safety killed the excitement.

I'm trying to stick to facts so keep in mind that it's just an observation, and very possibly one of no importance, but I have often looked at the bay where the bottle resides and looked at the wiring up in there wondering if it's cool having the wires just hanging around loose. It's probably because I wouldn't be able to leave wiring like that if I were putting the thing together that it's always bugged me. Sloppy wiring is not something I like to look at, but I'm not trying to imply that it's unsafe. I just don't know if it's a concern.

I wonder if there's any way to have someone take a look at the mod to determine what caused the ghost in the machine. I guess I could always contact ijoy, especially since our Capos are quite new, I've just heard so many horror stories about Chinese mod manufacturers warranties that it never occurred to me until now.

I bought both of them at Beyond Vape. Being a relatively large chain I wonder what they would say. I think they have like a two week return policy (never used it) and I'm outside of that. Still, can't hurt to email them.

Have you found any obvious cause... like leakage of juice. Or stuck buttin?

I haven't had a chance to inspect the device yet. I did ask her about any drops or any obvious signs of damage. She hasn't dropped it. She may lose her keys from time to time, but otherwise she takes very good care of her stuff.

I did want to come back and mention that I sent Beyond Vape an email regarding what happened. I'm very pleased to tell you guys that Tyler (cs) spoke with management and they asked me to return both kits back to my local store for a store credit. These guys have been pretty great in all of my dealings with them. I do quite a bit of shopping in their store and will continue to do so. I had the Capo on pre-order from China and they had one behind the counter before mine was even put on a slow boat. They didn't even have it in inventory yet but I wanted it so badly they sold it to me, a week later I bought another one and canceled the pre-order, which still hadn't shipped.

I'm bummed because I actually really do like the device a lot. It fires my Dead Rabbit better than any of my other squonkers including a Lost Vape Therion, a 528 Customs DS Driptech Squonker, and a few other unregulated BF mods. If this does end up being an isolated case (and no reason to think otherwise), then I'll likely pick up another one a few months from now.

I have this exact same problem also. Take the battery cap loose to stop the firing. And initially stopped the auto firing and mod turns off. Initially when re connecting the battery it would boot and be in standby mode.... After a few try's at this it got to the point as soon as the battery cap was installed it would auto fire. So now it cannot be used ....

I just wanted to also say this has now happened to me twice. I also really liked the mod. First squonk mod for me and I got it due to thinking it would be safer. It literally was sat on the table in front of me and hadn’t been touched for at least two hours and suddenly become a chimney. I also had to remove the battery to stop it and it scared the life out of me. I reported it to the site I bought it off and he said they would do nothing about it unless I video it happening. I couldn’t believe it!! When I said that it’s unsafe and he should think about stopping selling them I was told that’s what I should expect from a cheap Chinese mod. I can’t believe I’m supposed to stand with camera in hand waiting for this to happen again so I can get a video of it happening to send to him so I may be able to get s refund or exchange. He said it would have been caused by me carelessly letting it leak, which I know never happened. I’m even if it did have a leak it should be built with this potentially happening anyway, surely to god!! I asked for Ijoys email, which he gave me and also added that i wouldn’t even get a response off them as they would make him deal with it by asking for a video.
I once went to Iceland and filmed a gyser, I would liken this to doing the same. You don’t know when it’s going to erupt a load of steam but you wait with camera poised and freezing hands until it happens. If I do catch it on film I will not be sending it to them I will be posting it wherever possible on the net to warn people of buying them.

I’m was using 20700’s.

Hopefully more regulated squonk mods will come onto the market soon that take a single 20700.

I’ve bought myself a Vandy vape pulse squonk mod today which takes 20700’s and very happy with it but would prefer regulated.

I havent had any issues with my capo squonk yet but after seeing this thread I have been taking my battery out when im not using it just in case.I will be watching to see if it becomes a major problem with the capo's

Mine is doing the same thing started a few days ago so made sure it was clean then changed the coils and cotton and it’s still doing the same thing, ijoy need to look into this and either recall them and refund or replace

Crap - I was thinking all this time the one I got last December was safely packed away - then I remembered it came with a battery and it is likely in the mod!!!

Hurry up end of the work day!!!

I bought mine about 3 weeks ago, I’m really not happy, I paid £60 for it and I can’t use it due to it being a fire hazard I’ve not give it the chance to see if it cuts itself out but if it dose not and it’s left unattended or in your pocket then it could do some serious damage

NO doubt - I was dubious about getting an Ijoy anything really, but thought maybe they had cleaned up their act

Guess not

I’ve got the ijoy captain PD270 and I’ve had it about 6 months and never had a problem with it, think the problem lies with the capo squonker

I have a friend who had numerous problems with the Maxxo and it made me never want to have an Ijoy product

I bought mine just before Christmas, it first auto fired after a couple of weeks. I rarely used it after that but slowly convinced myself it may be ok so used it again and it auto fired within a couple of days. I really don’t think this is down to a sticking button or a leak as it does it when it’s not been touched for a couple of hours. I admittedly didn’t triple click it to turn it off, as I wasn’t putting it in my pocket, but it shouldn’t just suddenly erupt when on a table. I have seen a YouTube review of the Ijoy with a sticking button and this is not the same, it’s just firing on its own!!

On the night of February 6 to 7, 2018, I was woken up by my fire detector. I did not find the source anyway, but when I approached my IJOY CAPO, I saw the Drip tip all red, but I did not see any smoke, it was too small, but I I removed the battery that was not hot. I removed the cap from my tank and I noticed that the cotton was all consumed. Everything stopped after removing the battery.

I’ve been a victim of this as well just started happening last night, been using it a good few months without any problems! It was sitting on my leg and just started firing up, very frightening but I turned it off as soon as. However mine does feel like a sticking button!

same here, i pulled it apart and dumped alcohol through it, cured it for a while. all these things are prone to fluid getting into the innards

looks like auto fire is a common problem to the capo and it looks like theres no permanent fix to it, mine auto fired yesterday while i was at work.

mine started yesterday, I've rebuilt it 3 times trying to figure it out each time it starts working fine, it looks like juice is getting inside the mod to the circuit board. i've cleaned the board and the firebutton and removed the squonk pin to see if it does it again.

it makes me sad because i really like this mod, i have a vandy vape pulse mod that i'm using in the meantime, which is awesome because it seems unbreakable but i would really like a good regulated mod.

My non-squonk Capo has been sitting on this table next to me for a month or so. Hasn't done anything that I know of, but now I won't be able to sleep with it sitting there, so I've taken the battery out. I'm about to cancel the order for the tank to go on it. Sigh. Better safe than sorry, so thank you folks for speaking up.

Update: I have 3 of these units... 2 of which have this auto firing problem..the first 2... I was using various squonk RDA's that of course at some point will leak and or produce excessive condensation that must be finding its way down to the board and causing the units to fire at will. Now the one that is still working without fail is the one that came with the IJOY SRDA type RDA... seems to contain any juice that could get into the board? I did see the post about coating the board before using it....LOL ... too late for that.. I will try that on the one that is still alive hoping to prevent this from ever happening to it.... Really IJOY ! You are loosing my confidence !

I sent myCapo to Ijoy meanwhile Gearbest refunded my money so I bought the Wismec Luxotic BF. Ijoy knew this I paid for shipping both ways and got a new mod from them. They said circuit was shifted insided and firing button was no good.

My wife and I have had these for a few months now. Hers started auto firing on her where she had to remove batteries to get it to stop. Now fully charged batteries that fire in my device will not even power her mod on. I inspected device and didn't find any stuck buttons or anything. I put batteries in without atomizer and will still not power on. Plugged in charger cable and the batteries charging shows. How do I get her device to work again?

You're really limited to a few choices here.1 contact Ijoy's support and try to get it fixed via them. I had luck with them but cannot say it will happen for you.2 if you want to go the mech mod get a one you will be okay with.3 get a pulse 80 watt squonker which is regulated or a Luxotic BF which is semi regulated but only uses 18650's. Mike Vapes is coming out with a semi regulated mod which supports 21700's,20700's,and18650's.Wished I could be more help for you...good luck.

I have just had the same issue and does not matter if I use the sleeve included for my 18650's or the 20700 Batteries it auto fires and of course I am just over my warranty period. It has been a wonderful little device other than this so I am very disappointed. I have looked for an update but still waiting.

Fair few reports earlier of auto firing and not just drive by’s

Yep, I don't like how I can see bare wire inside it through the squonker hole, but I'm counting on my 510 o-ring to keep things dry. And battery out at night :D

I am so mad right now - my Capo hasn't autofired, Yet, but I bet it would if I kept using this piece of garbage. I can hear the squonk bottle leak air, and the worst thing ever - fully charged Samsung 40T, 0.39 ohm Single Coil, no matter how high I set the wattage, it fires at around 50 watts. it felt weak with dual coils (0.14), maybe 75ish watts (mod set to 100, full battery), but this is stupid. Unless it's a setting that can be fixed I'm seriously going to destroy this mod.

people have said the device is seriously under-powered, it actually will do about 90w which for a single battery device is about norm, the problem is it doesn't boost the volts. It's 4.2v maximum which means

Seriously? What the fuck is the point of a regulated mod, then? Garbage. Cheap piece of shit $30 down the drain garbage AUGHGHGHG

P.S. It does Not get to 4.2 volts, Maybe 3.8 - 3.9 volts, fully charged battery.

Vent over. Gonna take it apart and see how much juice is covering the innards, now.

Mine went in the trash about a month after I had it. It was soaking wet with juice all inside. Wasn't even gonna bother trying to figure it out. Serious POS
