Wasn't impressed with the so called improvements from the V3 - V3.2 but the V4 looks to have the improvements I want. Most notably the battery connections, so I said what the hell and pulled the trigger on a pre-order

I have had a lot of problems with my V3.2
When I first got it I had to tighten all of the battery connections and now it barely works and I can't figure out why. I've taken apart and reassembled it a few times trying to figure out what the problem is, but it is only firing on one or two cells at 3.7v

Well got it today, bigger than the V3, it's alright and I'm not blown away. I really dislike the switch, very stiff and very uncomfortable. The battery doors rattle which is annoying. I do really like the battery contacts so far. IMO it's two steps forward and two steps backwards.

Here's a shot with the 30mm Prophet

My opinion may change but don't think so. I may get the Clone when it comes out to see if if the switch is any better. For me the switch really kills it for me.

You spend over $200 on a Mod it shouldn't rattle nor have a super stiff switch, but hey that's Chinese shit for you.

Well took it apart to replace the spring, fucking dolts for it looks like they have press fitted the plunger and the spring together and can't take it apart.

Yeah I'm pissed! It's too new so no break downs of it but I'll keep it around until I find some info to see if/how one can disassemble the spring part of the switch.

Seems pretty reckless to try and make a non serviceable mechanical mod. Can you thread the spring off?

Why don't you like the battery connections on the V3.2 r055co?

Ok yeah I noticed that too. On another not I got mine working great again. The spot where the positive battery plate connects to the chassis had crud all over it from juice leaking down through the top. I had cleaned that spot several times with contact cleaner but I hadn't looked closely enough to see that it needed to be scraped off. Now it fires great every time.

Yeah other than the battery contacts I've been pleased with my v3 and v3.2. I was excited about the V4 due to the 20700 and the battery contacts/doors. The minor door rattling I can put up with but not the obscenely tense spring, makes it pretty much unusable for me. But they said they're coming out with a video on how to disassemble and replace the spring. If I can replace that shit spring then I believe I can be happy with that.

Yeah I bought another 6 (already have 6 in use, 2 not used) of the Vapcell Gold and Black 20700's just for this Mod. So seems I'll be able to get some use out of them if I can this switch fixed. Not sure if it's the same across the board but mine really is obscenely tense, I've never had a mod with anywhere close to this hard of a throw. Hell damn near have to use 2 hands just to get a solid contact.

Woah woah woah... Do you mean you don't need your cells married in sets of 4 for these mods?

Probably not. What are you going to do if one cell goes bad throw the other 3 away? I would really try to stay with 2 married sets of 2 cells

I ran into this issue already when I badly dented a cell. I just used one as a single cell and kept the other two for dual cell mods.

I had bought 2 18650 cells and one went bad after one days use. I just don't think its that big of a deal unless that other battery has been in use for much longer.

No it's not, actually I feel perfectly comfortable with a a couple of weeks. Mooch actually has on his schedule to test this out. It is though much more critical with series Mods. This is a para series though, anyway I error towards the side of caution and stick with marrying them. I have a couple sets of four married 18650 devoted to my HOGs and quad parallel Sith.

Let me reiterate, the button stiffness is unacceptable in its current configuration. Your finger tips are gonna ache after a days use. Hopefully the switch hack comes along shortly.

Also: chewed up two of four 30T battery wraps changing cells. Any secrets you guys an gals have discovered for changing cells without damaging wraps?

Just as an update, my switch throw did eventually soften up a bit, but the inability to change 2X700 batteries without destroying wraps about every one in four has benched this mod for me. Sad, I had big plans for it.

I have the same problem with my Augvape Gragas - only removing the batteries is guaranteed to rip the wrap 100% of the time. It's an extremely tight fit. This is the only mod that I use the mod itself to charge the batteries.

Well I got a response from Vaperz Cloud

"The firing pin and spring is press fitted inside the delrin block. The reason why the spring is so tense is to make sure it does not collapse when using it as people will be using 20700 and 21700 batteries inside the mod so with all that power being push through the contacts you would need the beefy spring. The easiest way to hit the button would be to use the ball of your thumb to hit the button so you don't strain out your finger."

Flawed designed and a very lame solution.

What a piece of shit

I wanted to get a HOG but after seeing this, No Thanks!
Sorry about your bad experience Rocco but you saved me a bunch of money, so Thank You for that.
Better to just stick to using the v3.0/v3.1/v3.2 especially now that we can have the Samsung 20S (18650 battery). Quad 2X700 batteries really are clunky anyway... even a triple 2X700 setup is just barely even practical.

triple 20700:

triple 21700:

sextuple 20700 (and before anyone asks, the answer is no, but it is so tall I can almost use it to poke God's ass with it... lol):

You think they would just use a capacitive button and a mosfet instead of a massive spring that makes it almost impossible to use. Sure it wont be 100% mech in a sense...but it would be the best option IMO.

Their lame excuse of power? Just under 8.4V with many other series Mods including previous HOG's certainly don't have an issue with their switches and springs.

I never had a problem with a my V1 or V2, the V2 button was a bit stiff for me but they were great devices...I wish they remade the first one or made a Hog that could do both Para Series or Quad Parallel...
A simple locking lever/switch and a hair trigger would be how I set the button up if I was in charge of the design. Im not a fan of hard buttons or long throws just to defeat the purpose of a safety....Just add a safety that housed inside the device doors and use a short throw easy push button.

Piece of shit
  • Contacts have a tendency to chew up your battery wraps
  • The Switch spring is obscenely tense
  • The Switch spring assembly is press fitted in so the switch is not serviceable

So all hype then

3FVape has a clone on sale, bummer though is that it's an 18650 not 20700. I ordered it anyway so we'll see how it is, I don't see that it can't be any worse though than the piece of shit Authentic.

How is the hammer of God v4? I have got a brand new mason dump tank 40mm, I wanna get the v4 to put it on. So what's y'alls personal preference about it.

I quickly became a fan of the HOG around the time when the v3.0 limited editions were still new, just like I quickly became a fan of the XXX stacked mods with their Comp-S switch. In fact I own four HOGs and four stacked XXXs because that's how much I love these mods, but I passed on the HOG v4 anyway.

That's what I did. Silly me :D.
If it's got less than 100 I'll usually start at the top. When I started the billet thread the we're like 6000 something and I tried from the beginning but got lost trying to read back and keep up with present. Lol

I read here a lot. I have a tab open on page 67 of DIY General Discussion. Another on page 46 of Vaping related but doesn't fit a category. I also like going back on rebuildables section. I just keep going back from page to page reading random threads. I dont read everything but like the evolution of vaping. There's lots of great info here.

Great info that's for sure. I spend more time reading here than much anything else.
