Voopoo Drag Vs. Geekvape Nova Vs. Revenant Cartel Vs. Etc

OK guys..so I'm in the market for yet another regulated mod. Bought the Smoant Cylon a month and a half ago, and had tons of complaints off the bat. Buttons rattle like hell, fire button sometimes doesn't respond well or cuts out, and battery life has been so-so. For my next mod, I was thinking of a more simplistic design. After some research, I came up with these mods that fit the style preference I'm looking for:

-Voopoo Drag
-Geekvape Nova
-Revenant Cartel(bit more expensive, if it's really worth the price, I'd love to hear why)
-Lost Vape Paranormal DNA250c (also on the expensive side. I also do not use TC mode, so I'm not really too concerned about that aspect, although I'm assuming this one as the best chip of the group. That being said, if it's worth paying triple the price of the Drag and the Nova, based primarily off wattage mode, please let me know why:))

My criteria here has been as follows:
-Battery door on side, not bottom
-Dual 18650 with 130w+ capabilities
-Solid design/minimum rattle
-Handles 0.1ohm coils
-Regulated of course:p

Now, I'm not totally locked in to buying any of these mods, but I feel they give a good baseline on the design I'm going for here. I really, really wanted a centered 510, but am having trouble finding that. I believe the Geekvape has a nearly centered, off-set 510, which is the closest I've been able to find. I am pretty set on finding something with a fairly minimal screen, without a background or anything like that. I was checking out the Minikin v2, but I really don't want to be fussed with the touch screen. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ya'll and happy vaping.

Has no problems with the screen....

I put my finger at the top and run it medium speed down at it unlocks every time....

And if you are like these guys that want to be able to swipe down with greasy and oily fingers and fast and then complain...

This mod ain't for you....

I just feel as if button controls will suit me better and are more in my wheelhouse. I often have silicon and other crap on my fingers, would hate to be cleaning the screen all of the time haha.

I have the Drag and really enjoy it. My only complaint is it’s like a brick but I can get over that given it works great! I’ve been looking at the Paranormal as well, figured it would be a nice one to try DNA boards with.

Yeah the Paranormal is a block of metal but it's nice looking.... It looks like it can handle abuse.......DNA 250c is also a good board...

I hear great things about the Drag. Seems to be one of the most highly suggested budget mods out there. The Paranormal would be the easy choice here in all honesty, because I'm sure it's probably superior in most ways to the others, besides maybe the Revenant, which I do not know too much about. That being said, as long as the mod thing fires consistently, I probably don't have too much use for a DNA mod, as I don't really see myself using TC. Although, if the build quality and design is worth spending 3x more though, I could consider crossing that bridge.

My two cents on higher end over seas mods versus budget mods is the budget mods do the same thing just as well. I have the Yihi SX Mini SL and while it’s a damn fine mod I still gravitate back to my GeekVape Blade almost daily...the Yihi is totally my Precious though.

I've been using my Drags for almost a year now with no problems. Tough Mods. Survived some pretty good drops.
I got the Nova about 2 months ago and it works great also. I don't think it would take a hard hit if you drop it. The resin side panels reach to the bottom of the mod and would probably break but I don't know for sure.
You can also look at the Smoant Charon 218. Another very tough mod with a side door. They are kind of out of the mainstream now but i'm sure you can still find one. All these mods i mentioned will take 25mm atty's.
Good luck.

Think vape Thor weighs so little seems like all the weight is the tank and batteries

Was checking out the Charon and the Charon Mini when I had originally purchased my Cylon. Unfortunately, that mod totally shook my confidence in Smoant products. I know it was probably just bad luck, as the reviews for the mod are pretty great across the board. I've become fairly careful with my rigs after breaking a shit load of tanks and mashing some paint on my other mods. Hopefully, durability, as far as drops, will be less of an issue for me, lol. I've heard the Drag is fairly heavy, which is sort of my preference actually, but not necessary. Do you use wattage mode? If so, what's your typical wattage if I may ask? I watched a review earlier on the Nova, and the reviewer claimed that he could feel virtually no difference between 70-100 watts. I enjoy vaping at around 80-85 watts, so that claim was a bit concerning for me.

Good looking mod, especially for the price point. How has the performance on that been for you so far?

Great so far. Had it a couple weeks. Batteries last most of the day. I have a low ohm mesh coil so that chews at the batteries a bit. But easy function easy menu

I mostly run in wattage mode between 50 and 80 depending on my coil and the juice.
There is a difference between 50 and 80 with the Nova. However I never tried 100 watts.
The Charon I am talking about is the Charon 218, not the newer models.
The whole mod is made of metal and has an excellent chip in it also. I have 3 of them and they will take a beating.

Ah yeah that is a bit annoying. I don't like that my Cylon doesn't have the option to lock ever, and you have to turn it off to "lock" it. That being said, not really a deal breaker, especially at 40 bucks.

I quite enjoy how the mod looks..its a pity that center mounted 510s werent always popular, but not a huge deal. How has the battery door been for you? You're a better source of knowledge than a reviewer being that you have 3 and have had them for a fair period of time I'm assuming. Also..any button rattle at all? I may send serious hatemail to Smoant if they give me another mod that sounds like loose change lol:confused:

I was checking out the Blade before I noticed the Nova, looked pretty good all around. I did consider going all out and buying a G class, but I'd be worried about taking it out of the house lol. Would probably have a mini panic attack every time someone asked to "try it". You know, when non-vapers try to rip a sub ohm tank for the first time and start coughing and wigging out lmao.

Battery door is excellent. Fits tight on the mod frame and also has a couple magnets.
The fire buttons have very little rattle. Can barely hear them.

Hmmm..may be able to deal with that as long as its not too bad..Im not too picky when it comes to minor imperfections but this rattling has been making me crazy for the last 2 months lol. Charon is definitely on my list now though, looks like a friggin tank. If the chip is decent as well, maybe I'll get a chance to use this pack of SS coils.

Thanks for all the info! Greatly appreciated

What I'm saying is why pay $200 bucks on a high end mod when you can get the same to use daily for 1/4 of the price......

If you are looking for a mod to use with sticky fingers and take to work every day and beat up, get a reasonably priced mod.....

The Boxer left side is $300
The end g class is $250

The middle is a GTRS Vboy I got for $30.00 bucks on eBay and functions and hits harder and feels perfectly better than the other (2)............

I have 2 Charon 218's. These are my go-to guys. I use either one or the other every day. Bullet proof so far.
