Coil Master Pre Fab Coils

So I thought I'd start out with some pre fab coils for my RTA. Coil Master makes a pack with like 8 different types of coils.

But when I opened it, I see the ends of the coils are REALLY long. SOme have copper covering the ends, some have thicker ends, etc, etc. I wanted to try out the various types of wire and THOUGHT this would be a good place to start but I have to cut off the ends to make them fit and it changes the ohms drastically.

Were these coils made for a specific RBA?

What am I missing here?

THANKS!!!

You have to use a coil calculator to figure out what ohm you want to end up at. But yes you'll have to cut the legs to fit in the rda or RBA whichever you use. And pics of the actual coils?

Copper ones are labeled: Clapton Parallel 26 AWG*2+39+26AWG NI80 3MM .3+-.05OHM

Silver Tipped: Interlock Clapton (26+32AWG)+24AWG A1+NI80 3mm .3+-.05ohm

twisty ones: Fused Clapton (TWIST) 28AWG*2+32AWG A1 3mm .45+-.05ohm

They put that on there so the wrap wire doesn't come loose I guess. Those legs would be way to long to fit in anything anyways. Did you pulse the coils and get them heating correctly? Just seeing what could help

And hell the legs are long enough to wrap a few more wraps and raise the ohms

rated ohm measure correctly until I cut them down to fit and lose 20%+ of the ohm rating

The ones with the special ends are clearly for some special atty but damn sure dont work in my Griffin 25

Yeah, I dont know what the hell these are for... Why would you sell a coil rated for .3ohms but is only .2 when you cut it to fit?

I'm just going to throw it in the back of my closet and pretend they never existed!

Yeah you'll have to cut those pieces off and add a wrap or two if needed and will fit in the 25

As WTMKE1 said, they put those caps on there so they dont fall apart. They leave the legs so long so you can get them fit in anything. Think of it like a one size fits all, just wrap it to the right length and cut it to fit. For a bin of mixed coils, those dont look bad at all.

What's the point of having that stuff on the ends when I'll just have to cut it off???

the longer legs are to you can position your coil properly on various types of atomizers. As mentioned, the colored tip are there to keep the wrapping wire from uncoiling at the ends and make the coil easier to mount.
They really don't affect resistance since coils are generally cut with aprox 0.5mm leads.

I'll be making my own, just wanted to get a variety pack to try out the various types and to help me figure out what all the differences are.

The coils you posted are "sick"!!! What kind of wire is that?

The wire alloy is Nichrome 80 and some SS316L. The coil types are Aliens, Framed Staple Aliens, and Mohawk Aliens. All handmade by me.
