hiya, guys.
10 days ago i bot myself a vape pipe, to get off tobacco. it works great n i'm off cigarettes
i kept reading about device to lung, so i ordered a
smok t priv 220 watt, to find out what the fuss was about.
this uses 18650 batteries, do i ordered some n a charger from walmart.

now, you guys seem to say i shouldn't use these?
i already paid for them n they have the right number.
must i toss them?

also, i see direct vapor has lots of these batteries at different prices.
if i pay 30% more for a battery, will it last 30% as long?
i'm hoping someone can take me by the hand n make me understand.
i don't know anything about ohms, protons or any other particles that are floating about in the air.
i know that a 240 watt plug goes in a 240 watt outlet.
i thot i could figure this stuff out buy reading old posts, but you guys got a mystical language of your own.
i know the words you use.
i can define the words you use.
but, when you put them all in a sentence, you lose me.
please, just tell me what i gotta do, while spending the least amount of money.

thanks,
sue

Hi Sue - what is the brand of batteries you bought at Walmart? The type of charger?

Some super cheap chargers can overcharge batteries and end their life quickly.

The problem with many of the discount batteries is that they are usually cells that were rejected by the name brand maker that did not pass quality control -

They are often sold with overstated capabilities. While this would not matter so much when used in a flashlight or what have you - if used in a mechanical mod it can be lethal, as the cell cannot meet the demand made by the coil which can lead to venting (what is often misreported as "exploding")

In a regulated mod, it is less problematic, but as is often the case with anything super discounted - will not be long lived. Also, watch for tears in the battery wrap, which can quickly lead to a short.

The reason vapers recommend only buying from three very reputable dealers is the fact that there are also a lot of counterfeit batteries sold in the US at discount prices. These are also rejected batteries that will not perform correctly and can be easily over taxed, leading to venting

Vapers usually recommend these sellers, as they guarantee the batteries are authentic and have passed quality control

thank you lucy.
i needed to hear your opinion.
so, i'm taking a chance but probably won't kill the machine?
i spent the money, so i hate to not use these.
i'm too frugal.
besides, i've got over $300 in this hobby in 10 days.

it says 3.7 volt 9800mah
rechargable.
i don't even know what that means
there is no name on the bats or recharger.

Battery safety is of the utmost importance in vaping, the number one thing really

If you really want to learn, check out Battery Mooch on YT

I do not know which table you are referring to

Watch this to begin getting aquatinted with batteries used for vaping

I didn't see this at first - those are very dangerous batteries (why they were cheap)

The charger isn't great either for the reasons I explained in the first answer

9800 mAh (milliamp hours) does not actually exist yet in the real world in 18650 cells

I'd really look at getting new batteries and a more reputable charger ASAP

what exactly happens if i use those bats or that charger.
it is very hard for me to understand why a charger should be a problem.
with my 18350 bats, they sent the cheapest charger imaginable as part of the kit.
it works.
are we talking about someone gets hurt once out of 500,000 times?

Overheating and melting while charging - at any given time is the biggest probability - fire a real possibility

lucy, you are being too vague.
i accept that fire is a possibility, but how probable.?
death is possible every time i get in my car.
i will buy no further batteries from big boxes.

I have no idea on the statistics - I do know I've seen posts and pictures of the aftermath

Haven't seen one in a long time - I believe because vapers and much better educated about battery safety than we were four or five years ago

As Lucy stated. The batteries you have now are not safe to vape with. Theyre probably for the tiniest flashlights or something similar. Cannot withstand the strain you will put in them from vaping.

Here is an abridged version of the Mooch battery chart

Make low easy and pick one of those

Also, do yourself a favor and learn a good working knowledge of ohms law and battery safety.

Buy your batts in pairs- keep them together. Charge them together, use them together and treat them like
Married people.

Check your wraps, make sure the wraps are in good condition at all times.

Get a battery case for travel ... DO NOT PUT BATTERIES IN YOUR POCKET OR PURSE WITHOUT A CASE. They will find your keys ... they will always find your keys.

it is unfortunate that i didn't study this forum before ordering.
i suspect i didn't even get the right mod.

i was going on various you tube things.
they never mentioned batteries.
oddly, the pipe i got with no help at all was a great purchase.
i was able to quit smoking without needing will power. it was better than tobacco at first puff.

That's what counts - quitting smoking!

the e puffer pipe was pricey but worth every penny.
i got it because it looks the same as the men's pipe i have for other substances.
it draws exactly like a cigarette, which i needed.
in fact, i'm not sure i can adjust to this deep throat thing you guys like.
there are so many of you who like that there must be something in it.

If you are talking about DL (direct lung) they can have it

After years of vaping I still like a MTL (Mouth to Lung, like a cigarette) type draw too mainly - vape how you like it, not how others like it

lucy, do you know how to change the baby beast to mouth to lung?
the coils offered in the kit i got only go to .5.
how do i find a coil that fits that allows mouth to lung?
even if i like the other i'd prefer to have the option.

I don't think they make a higher ohm coil for that - I've never owned or vaped that tank

However, it was a very popular tank - It would probably be pretty easy to see info from real users here on VU

thanks. i'll start a thread about it.
i needed a spare machine anyway.
i'm terrified that my pipe will stop working.
i know what i'll do then.

The batteries we use is safeties weak link and should be taken the most serious. Mods, atomizers, coils don't have thermal runaway or vent.
Just want to make sure you understand how different Lithium Ion (Li-on) batteries are from other types of batteries, even the more known NiCd rechargable batteries.
The Li-ion batteries used for vaping are much more powerful. They discharge their current at a comparatively extremely high rate. If given the chance they will discharge all their power quickly, and all at once, and is why choosing from the A- correct brands with the B-correct specifications and from C-trusted vendors that sell authentic(yes, they are faked) is so important, as well as that safety precautions are used at all times. Since all these cells want to do is expel all their stored up energy, reducing risk is what we do. And those 3 things as well as battery wrap inspections, reduce risk.
there is no name on the bats or recharger.
This greatly increases risk. No name? Don't use them, don't even try it once. Return them, or use them in a flashlight and chalk it up as experience.
i accept that fire is a possibility, but how probable.?
Knowledge is truly king for battery safety. Without it, higher than acceptable risk isn't possibly or probably, it's inevitable.

Since they are being delivered you could link us these "no name" batteries that you don't have yet, charger too. Then we can help you get good batteries and charger for your new mod.

The mod is fine, as long as you get correct 18650 batteries. Regulated mods do have safety features built in but those features aren't meant to replace not knowing.

The Baby Beast won't do MTL. But you might be able to adjust settings to get the .5Ω likable.

I've been told NOT to use 18650's from my tactical lights like Surefire or Fenix. Something to do with protection circuitry inside those batteries? Is that correct or am I being told that to make me buy a bunch of new batteries? :) I would think the batteries in those types of lights would be high performance? Thanks in advance...I'm super new to all of this!

They are no good.
You need a high drain flat top 18650 cell.

Some batteries do have a protection circuit and will only work to a certain amount of amps and then the circuit blows.
The ones with the button top are the ones that won't work.

They need to be high drain cells with a flat top.

The cells you choose are important.

If you want long battery life and a battery that doesn't get hot you should stick with something that has at least a 20 amp CDR rating and is at least 2500mah.

There is a guy named Mooch who tests all the batteries that we vape with so I just googled "Mooch 18650 Chart" and within the first few links you will find an up to date chart of them:

The Aegis Legend seems to be a well built device.
I haven't seen complaints about it like how it is with some other brands.
