Interesting topic - usually big bucks are involved - but big bucks don't guarantee high quality. If the quality isn't there, it is just expensive

Kinda like when does erotic become pornographic? Hard to define but I know it when I see it :giggle:

I guess high end could be subjective. For instance with my very limited budget I consider my Kennedy Vindicator high end, but it only cost around $130. Compared to Purge and many others going $300 and up.

I know higher price doesn't always equal higher quality and conversely just because something isn't as high priced doesn't mean it isn't quality.

I'm interested on everyone's opinion.

I kinda compare it to cars in my mind - Kennedy would be like a Crown Vic, not quite a Cadillac, but definitely beats a Ford Focus

All three will get you where you gotta go!

When I got my RNV Chronicle tube I was thinking high-end even though it was only 70 bucks. But really it's not. But I only have 3 mods that cost more. One should be higher. The star wars minimal squonk. Last year was going to pay 120 for it. Scored it for 40 this year. Woohoo

High end to me is rather objective. I don't consider any of my gear high end but do consider much of it mid-high quality. Worth the investment for me. I would rather have a few well built/designed setups instead of an arsenal of cheaper shorter lived maybes.

getting harder to define

don't know whether to puke, or kick the screen, when a 3d print is described as high end

but for me, a combo of short runs, mum and pop type outfit out if a shed, quality materials and finish

some are easy to get, some not. That isn't a factor for me

They are machined different, they feel different and the design is very specific.

They feel different in the hand than mass production items.....

And are usually made in Germany, The Philippines or some far away country....

They are hand made and fabricated one at a time and use high end components.... They take considerable time to produce......

Mods that have the shape of your palm, places for fingers and designed for Vapers........

Most use high-end components and offer exceptional customer service.

The company is proud of their products....... And they are most low runs and If Stabwood you have (the only one) ever produced, no Stabwood mod is the same.

I don't own many, but the ones I own are very special on how the software is set up and the way they perform....

Usually Stabwood and Ultem mods require a lot of time for sanding-prepping and polishing.

If you own a Viscious Ant, Vapedroid, a Stabwood, an Ultem mod, or even a Yihi SX class on the lower end you know and feel the difference.....

At the end all I have to say if you can get a mod to vape for over (6) months, It's a high end mod in my book............

I’m starting to think plastic is the future of the vape industry. There is a very limited customer base in the high-end market.

Even though we’ve all tried our share of aluminum and alloy devices, it seems like more people are getting into the wild color palettes available with plastic.

Is it price? If so what's the price point? Where it's made? Rarity? What do you consider high end?
I consider something "high end" if it is made with good quality, performs well, generally isn't churned out en masse, and is at least somewhat limited in availability. For me the pricing doesn't have to be outrageous, but does sometimes tend to be. This is moreso the case with mods than atomizers.

For example, I'd consider the two on the right (Paranormal 250C and KAMi) more high end than my SKD Posidon on the left, even though it had a higher price, because I feel they're designed/built better. Also I had to replace the VariTube 510 in my Posidon with a ModMaker one because it wasn't reading resistance properly.

Some Atomizers are rediculous too.... Have you purchased a QP Fatality specially in black..... Or a Scottua V3 or even a Taifun GT IV......

Oh, without a doubt there are extremely expensive drippers/tanks. Anything by E-Phoenix for example. However, this pales in comparison to an $800 stabwood mod that may still be using a DNA 40-60 or an SX350J, know what I mean?

Yeah.... But there are Ultem mods that cost more than a.... Viscious Ant Stabwood.......

It's nuts, but again not your every day stuff.....

Most of the high end mods stay in the house and never leave the house.....

Which is just insane to me, honestly. There's no reason an Ultem mech mod should be more expensive than a regulated stabwood mod, but hey, I guess if people are willing to pay, I really can't fault them for it.

Then again, maybe I don't know enough about working with Ultem. Could be tough, for all I know.

Well first the Ultem has to be shaped and formed to meet with the frame... The frame built using an aircraft aluminum or Stainless Steel.......

Now you sand it for hours.... Wet sand it..... Around and around.... But wet sanded so much that it will not fit the frame....... So you have to start again...

On the frame you drill small tiny holes and push and solder wires into the frame.... mount the board....

Now comes the components.... A DNA 75c....polished 510 aluminum buttons.... wires, battery tray and crap.... And a screen too....

Then comes setting up themes for the Chip......

Then adding the cost of all parts, packaging and shipping......

It's a long process.... Most custom builders build (3-5) mods weekly....

It's not a manufactured item in a factory..... And the guy wants to make a living !

Totally agree with you there - I highly doubt the serious modders are actually making that much if you break down the profit and divide it by time spent to compare to an hourly wage for an expert craftsman

Most MOD's (IMO) these days are comparable to Toyota or Nissan, there aren't really any Mercedes or Jaguars sold. Unless you get something like my Golem which is handcrafted. That I consider High End but not just because of the price.........

For me it's subjective to an extent. I used to think Lost Vape was high end and own many of their products, but in the end I now think of them as mid level. I drooled over the Vicious Ant spade until I held one. The one door you get it extremely nice, but the rest is a high quality plastic box. For that price I want 2 doors, lol. I've found that a lot of mods that are available on FB groups in limited numbers are very well made, but not all are high end even though the prices would suggested otherwise.
You know high end when you hold it in your hand and vape it.

Quality dictates "High End". I still prefer the term premium as it better defines it (to me anyways). Premium is anything that performs better than advertised and provides a superior experience and is of better quality.

Sadly quality is a race to the bottom right now and the bar being set for what constitutes quality, is getting lower and lower. So what used to be consider shit is now considered a mid range device. Its one of the main reasons I am heading back to being a fully mechanical user. Most of the premium regulated mods cost a fortune and they still will not outlive even a decent mech.

Kennedy is a rare exception of a premium item that has managed to stay within the realm of affordable. I dont mind paying a little more to get a little more. But nothing pisses me off more than expecting high end and being duped.

I love the premium feel of Viscious Ant..... Specially all Stabwood Duke and 26650 battery..... The Yihi SX 350J v2 they use hits like a 120 watt mod.....

Amazing build for a Philipino mod.... And they import the wood from USA...

Ha ha.....

I love Odis too, which is also Canadian

The Odis 16 is one of the best small single chambered out there, at least that you can just buy without FB groups and the like

I completely agree, it's one of my favorites. If you go to the spare parts section of the BB Vapes/ecigarettes website he has a refurbished link in there where you can find some nice high end pieces from time to time. Not much there to excite me right now though.

All a matter of perspective.
Rented a 2019 Cadillac last weekend and a Crown Vic is nicer and rides better imho.
Of course no Crown Vics any more...

Then there was the Cadillac Cimmeron in the mid 80's which was a rebadged Chevy Cavelier. Have you seen the crazy market for older former police Crown Vics?

So it would seem that there isn't one answer. The definition will vary from person to person.

Yep worked in Durham NC when the Cimarron came out. A guy I worked with got one and I congratulated him on his new Cavalier and he got all upset at me :)
HeY I was innocent, I thought it was a deluxe model of Cavalier.

But some of those plastic mods are considered to be high end mods...
Go figure. I suppose there is high end plastic and low end plastic?
Kinda like Snails give em a fancy french name and people pay lots for them?

Is the Frankencraze still going on?

By the time you add a custom adjustable 510 and a DNA 75c and screen your probably at $80 bucks

Then shipping from Ireland or England.

By the time you calculate (3) hours of labor for cutting the plastic and programming the chip and soldering and mounting the board.... Packaging

You have over $150 bucks invested.....

And you still haven't added a mark-up.
