This is just a place where we all can come and chill out, hang and talk. It doesn't matter if it's vape related, non-vape related, did you see something cool? What's happening in your neck of the woods? Whatever you want to talk about, come and hang out. Meet people and make friends.

I know, there are probably other threads like this, but I remember when I first started coming to VU, I was in a similar thread. If you're like me, I was a little reluctant to go there at first because the people there had been there a while and knew each other. I personally didn't want to infringe on that, but I bit the bullet and did it anyways.

I met allot of good people there, thus many new friends. Now here is a place where we can all have a fresh start and get to know each other, hang out, and yes, maybe make a few new friends.

G'morning!

Seems a nice idea, as sometimes things get kinda clique-ey over time and it can be hard to fit in, so kudos!

Got the coffee going here; a double Americano with pumpkin spice creamer....Mmm :coffee2:

Welcome and thanks for check the place out. I'm a HUGE coffee guy myself. I drink a TON OF coffee LOL. I'm hoping we can make this thread successful. I made it for people like myself to have a place to relax Ana maybe make a friend or two.

Kind of a coffee nut myself. Here's my new cup I just got this weekend. Mod placed for reference. Figured I'd drop in with some kitty-fund say what's up

Hello in here. Taking a break from shoveling/snow blowing here in WI. Tons of snow today. I had to dig out 5ft high snow pile by my driveway where the plows shoved the snow into. That took about 2 hours then the driveway and such. I only went down once. We had ice the past two weeks and all the salt is sold out here. That's my story for today. At least I didn't have to drive in the crap.

I diy for myself and a few family members. I'm not a pro or care to be. Vaping since 2010 and diy'ing since Dec 2010.

Yes, the weather has been wicked lately. My partner he had to drive to work this morning and the back roads were not plowed. He doesn't take the highway because they end up crashing all over the place. I'm glad I only work PRN (I sign up for work hours). I have one more weekend this month to do. I drive 29 miles to work. It's a knuckle bender in winter because the area doesn't plow the back roads until they feel like it.

Wow, be careful out there. We don't get much snow in Texas. When we do though, people here drive like idiots. Just stay safe out there

I'm glad to have you hanging with me in the Portal. I'm hoping we can make this a cool placeto chill with old and maybe some new friends alike :)

When I first clicked this thread I thought it was related to "Dr. Who".
Haha, I love Dr. Who, but no. I just thought it would be a cool name. Plus maybe like a portal to escape your stress? I don't know. Just a hangout :)

I need a espresso machine. Only have a regular coffee pot atm sadly.

You can get a decent one for pretty cheap.
Mine is from 1991 and is just a manual boiler type. No fancy electronics or anything.

Espresso and my French Press is why I got the vintage Armin Trösser conical burr hand grinder.
It was like $35 on Ebay. Near original condition after about 55 years.

Does as well as machines costing $500, just requires hand-power. ;)

I might have to do that. I've been wanting to make cold brew too. Tried that at work once and it was amazing

Everything you'd ever want to know about coffee is in here:

https://www.home-barista.com/
https://www.home-barista.com/forums/

First thing: the best gear on earth can't make great coffee out of old dried-up beans or pre-ground coffee. ;)

I do keep some instant and pre-ground in jars in case of a power outage or just if in a hurry, but also why I got the hand grinder. I can make 4cups of pour-over or an espresso in about 4minutes, or about 8mins for the Bodum.

I'll definitely check out that link. I'm a coffee nut and Starbucks just isn't the way to go. I tried their cold brew once and will never again. Honestly, it just tastes like coffee that was left in the pot and left to get cold. It was terrible. I've also been debating on trying my hand at making a Cubano (I might have the name wrong). I saw it once on Big Brother when this guy was making it for everyone and wanted to try one ever since.

It's pretty simple really: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuban_espresso

Very strong-tasting stuff. Cuban coffee is generally super-dark roasted. ;-)

When I used too have a cheap espresso machine, I drank lots of it LOL. I really should have a heart condition with the amount of coffee I drink, but surprisingly no :)

Yay a coffee club! I drink gallons of it myself. :coffee2:

Sometimes I accidentally grab the Jameson instead of the creamer and my coffee gives me an added boost of happy! :bingo:

That sounds interesting actually. I love me some Jameson, I know many like to mix it with coke, but not me. I'm a straight up kinda guy. Will try that pickle juice shot with it though. Got me curious.

First off let just say that I'm sorry. Everytime the chicagoland area just misses the bulk of a winter storm that hammers Wisconsin I say " better them than us, they can have it". :p

Seriously though. I feel for you because I know Wisconsin has been hit all winter long with snow and below zero temps. It's been brutal here in the upper central US.

Y'all are making me want coffee but I have to be in bed in a few hours.

I live in Michigan and the kids have had 9 snow days in the last 12 days. That's insane and never happened when I was a kid. Drive to work should be another fun one.

I just got done shoveling snow and it's just filling in again. Now enjoying some grape MTL.

Thought about making a for sale thread but I'm too lazy.

I used to drink a lot of Jameson. Guess I'm a pansy now. I'll stick to crown Royal lol

I wish I could buy from the sell thread, but can't get my stinking PayPal to work. Emailed the a few times, but they never respond. So much good stuff there too.

When I moved to the Florida swamp I threw my snow shovel in my good neighbors yard....I don't miss that weather at all. When I see it on TV, I'm like, ewww that looks nasty....oh look at all those people wearing coats....

Oh yeah there's an inch of solid ice under all the snow I just shoveled. Almost fell a couple times. I'm ready for summer.

I know what you mean and Michigan gets it worse than we do. I'm actually glad I live on the east side of lake Michigan. It starter here early yesterday evening and it's been off and on since then. The only thing missing is the thunder and lighting we had last week when this same crap moved in.

I'm with you, bring summer! I'll settle for an early spring tho.
