do people quit vaping or are they lifer? the reason i ask this is because i never hear any talk about getting off vaping. we all know that vaping is harm reduction and not harm free, and yet nobody talks about quitting vaping. instead we treat vaping as a hobby. i'm not sure if thats a good thing or not. also i was wandering if there are people who start vaping never having smoked ?

Join some Facebook groups vaping related and will you will find a lot young men/kids that have never smoked a cig in their life. They are in it for the clouds I guess. Usually posting cloud videos with out shirts, like they accomplished something.

Well i can tell ya I won't be quitting vaping. I love it and it has become a hobby. I love reviewing e liquids. I love everything about it. I will probably be a lifer. And I know plenty of people who haven't smoked who start vaping.

I don't think you'll get many folks here still posting if they had quit vaping. I know as much as I like the folks here, I'd move on if I didn't vape any more.

That said, I've cut down on my vaping considerably without trying and I'm beginning to think I may not be vaping long. Who knows.

To answer your question, yes. I know a few people who quit or plan on quitting vaping. However they are also the people who dont join a forum for vaping. They see the success rate of quitting smoking, and do just that. They are also the people who dont use flavors, cept for the cig flavor. They still use the cig-a-like or pen(ego) style. Hell a buddy of mine still uses an ego with clearo. not even an ego twist style, PLAIN EGO, 650mah. Because it's kept him off cigs.
me however, nope dont plan on quitting.

While I may quit vaping someday, my primary concern is to not smoke cigarettes. Meanwhile I have naturally reduced levels of both nicotine and flavorings. And find I go much longer (i.e. several hours) without overwhelming cravings.

Spent 35 years smoking -- and 1 year quiting (so far). Firmly believe I am on the right path for the sake of my family and health. And I feel much, much better and, based on physical exam, my doctor agrees.

How many years did you smoke cigarettes? And which do you think might be less harmful over the next 5, 10 or 15 years? Meanwhile I used to smoke, but now I do not.

Good luck to you!

If anyone out there does quit vaping, may I offer this suggestion- buy really expensive high-end gear and then send it to me when you no longer have a use for it! ;):D

There are lots of non-smokers who vape, yes. I read a story just the other day about a girl who took up vaping to curb her habit of munching on snacks. Like a lot of people, she has to have something to munch on while watching tv...so now she just vapes instead.

She reported that she's already lost 10 pounds.

Well, I am sure plenty quit vaping. But I wouldn't suggest tossing your gear.

People that quit smoking (be it by vaping or other means) usually end up smoking again at some point. I'd think instead of picking up a stinky, you'd be FAR better off to pick up vaping again for a while.

I've been vaping since 2011 and have been asked if I'll ever stop and my answer is usually "meh...maybe"
At this point I enjoy it so much I don't want to but a while back I got caught out on a long lay over at of town and ran out of juice.
At first I was worried but turned out it wasn't a big deal to go 12-14 hrs. without a vape.
Now if when I smoked and same thing happened then it would have been HELL!
So I'm sure now I can stop vaping easy if I want to. I just don't want to...now.
It's not hurting me or anybody else so no reason to quit.

I agree with that whole heartedly, nicotine is not nearly as addictive as they make it out to be, just because you don't "want" to quit doesn't mean you "can't" quit

Well I've never smoked a single cigarette in my life and I started vaping. Mainly just for something to do, and because a buddy of mine started vaping to stop smoking, that got me interested.

I started smoking to kick a 40-year pack a day smoking habit. And I was immediately successful where every other attempt to quit had failed. So, given that I found it so hard to quit smoking previously, I would be very loathe to quit vaping knowing how easy it is to go back to smoking. For me I suspect the hand-to-mouth habit is the true culprit, And yes, from my point of view this is harm reduction.

Ran out of juice once in the middle of nowhere. Found a vape shop & all was well. It's becoming just as common place as smoke shops around here anyway. The juice wasn't bad either.

Ehhh nic isn't a problem for me anymore anyways thanks to vaping.
Started on 18mg and eased on down to 1.5mg for some time now. So it's kinda not really even there.
Just having fun chasing big tasty clouds now.

we all know that vaping is harm reduction and not harm free

Just to be accurate, there hasn't been a single person diagnosed with a vaping related illness at this time. The minute one is found, we will all know their name. The FDA, CDC, ALA, and all of the other ANTZ groups have been desperately searching for them, too.

At present, we can only say that we suspect that vaping is probably not harm free. There is no scientific evidence to back up that statement. It is entirely possible that in the long run, vaping may be found to be harm free. The jury is still very much out on the subject.

I feel better about vaping every day that goes by. Some folks have been vaping for close to 7 years, and that was long before we even knew about the "bad stuff" in flavorings.

I had no intentions of quitting cigarettes until I met my baby nephew for the first time and didn't want to hold him because I smelled like an ashtray. My brother in law had quit during the pregnancy and was using a vaporizer and asked if I wanted to try that out. Well needless to say I haven't smoked a cigarette in over a year now. I was immediately impressed even with beginner equipment. I think it was an evod pen with a protank 2 mini or something like that.

So here I am, over a year and no cigarettes and a crazy additiction to vaporizing! Love rebuilding and trying as many flavors as possible, can't see myself not vaping anytime soon :)

I celebrated my 5 year smoke free anniversary in 2014 and really have no plans to quit vaping. Over the last year or so, I have reduced my nic from 36mg to 18-24mg and vape about 2-3 mIs a day. I vape for the nicotine and not for sport. I DIY about 50% of my juice and have enough of a stockpile to last through the zombie apocalypse so maybe I will stop vaping when I run out of supplies.

I always enjoyed the act of smoking and the relaxed feeling I got from the nicotine but it wreaked havoc with my health, which is why I kept trying to quit. Ecigs helped with my health issues and I haven't taken blood pressure medicine in 4 years. I also no longer have a smokers cough and those 1 mile runs are now easy peazy. I'm addicted to nicotine and probably always will be....I accept that and embrace it. So so as long as I can get my fix, combustion free, I'm good.

Empirical medical evidence to the contrary. Nicotine is no more harmful than caffeine or attending the opera. Addictive? YES....but so is shopping and masturbation.

Please show me the studies for long term inhalation studies on PG, VG, and flavorings.

so until there is proof, we can't rightly say that it ISN'T harmful at all, to vape.

One thing any of us COULD say, is how we feel better, have a better sense of smell, and can breathe better.

So how about we don't paint vaping as a completely safe act, ok? It does none of us any favors.

As far as inhalation of PG....it has been introduced into the atmosphere of every US hospital for decades, as it is a known antimicrobial. Regarding the inhalation of VG....well you will have to Google that if you care to. You seem rather worried....perhaps you should stop vaping immediately.

Worried? No.
Being truthful, yes.

How about you? Do you have any scientific proof that NOTHING in ejuice can be harmful?

Not saved on this computer...primarily because I am convinced by nothing more than common sense that it is quite healthier than cigarettes. There are countless hazards in life...and whilst I am certain that I do unhealthy things....poor diet, etc.....I choose to live a life free of anger, stress, fear, paranoia...etc. Not many can do this, but I have an insight that too few have. As for truth....that only happens when a claim can no longer be refuted through examination.....as taught to us all by Socrates and Aristotle.

The only thing stopping me from saying that vaping is completely safe is that the next 13 - 25 years haven't happened yet.
It would be foolish to declare anything as anything prior to the study of data collected over a sufficient period of time.

The effects of the inhalation of PG vapor has been tested quite a bit over the last quarter century. It is safe. A simple Google search can verify that.
VG and flavorings are what more data is needed for.

I look at it this way. I know how 30 years of smoking was affecting my health. I know that I have put a stop to that particular kind of damage. If vaping has causes different health issues that take years to develop, then I have in essence restarted the clock. At age 50, that is a risk I am perfectly willing to take.

My gut tells me that it is safe, but I have zero proof of that, and I am not willing to try to convince others of that.

Never did I argue, that vaping wasn't a healthier choice over smoking.

But neither you or I can say there is NO harm from vaping. There is also no proof it is risk free.

This was exactly my point.
I do NOT argue that vaping isn't a better choice. But I don't believe in stating my feelings as FACT. Several people both online and in shops, have claimed vaping is completely SAFE. There is no proof of that.

You're finger wagging at those who claim that vaping is "safe", because there is no long term medical research to back up that statement. Then you claim that your opinion is fact, when the exact same long term medical research is required to support your stance.

No, what is a FAIL, is the dude running around playing off like he is blessed with a higher I.Q. then he really is.

Please show us all the evidence that vaping IS proven to be safe. There exists NONE right now. So stop being stupid and implying that it is.

It looks stupid when big tobacco and big pharma talk about how poisonous vaping is (without any real research) as it does for any vape supporters to talk how vaping IS safe. Neither side has much of anything in the way of evidence.

People want to toss out that the ingredients are FDA approved, or that hospitals use PG in the air. But what they don't say, is HOW MANY PPM is the PG in the air at hospitols? How many PPM is the PG inhaled in vape? VG is approved for INGESTION, but is it approved for inhalation?

If no one really cares about evidence, then that's fine. Just don't blow smoke up everyone's ass and act like there is no risk.

The FACT is, there have been NO studies. And what little wants to be tossed about, is skewed to an agenda.

That being said... Lol
I have my reservations as to the ultimate safety of vaping. However, my body, lungs, throat, etc etc tell me this is better than analogs, and is at least not exposing me to the additional chemicals like the fsc, in all cigarette products in the US.

I agree! I honestly believe that vaping is a far safer thing to do, as opposed to smoking. My body tells me as much.

Still, I'd like to know what risks I am taking by vaping. What "could" happen down the road. Surely it couldn't be as bad as smoking. But if there are lung risks, or organ risks, I'd like to know.

Actually, there have been studies that show vaping is safe. Granted, not as numerous as those that suggest that it isn't. And before you travel down the next road, I will concede that you will simply refute the credibility of any "vaping is safe" link that I post. That's the Catch-22 about research. It's all subjective, and "facts" can be presented in a way to support either side.

I doubt that you will find many vapers who will claim that vaping is "100% safe". The general push is that vaping is "more safe" than smoking cigarettes, therefore vaping is less harmful. And we don't need some study to tell us that because we simply feel better.

My contention is that if you listen to these so-called medical professionals and heed their surveys and research, you might as well live in a bubble. Microwave ovens were killing us. Cell phones were killing us. DDT was killing us. Aspartame was killing us. Fluoride was killing us. Saccharine was killing us. Hell, even sunlight and the air we breathe has the potential to kill us. Fad diets are the next best thing one year, and the next...killing us. It all comes full circle, because the only truth is, these so-called medical professionals are just making guesses. And a lot of that guessing depends on who is funding their research.

We can agree. I don't dispute what you have posted.

I honestly want to see REAL studies, and not studies jaded from one side or the other (hard to get, I know). These studies can't happen overnight, or over a few short years. I don't want a hypothesis from scientists, I rather, want to see what they conclusively determine.

Until conclusive studies are done, I won't be preaching vaping is "safe" or harmless. I'd rather others didn't either. I would rather we stand together with truth, rather than be like the other side slinging shit against the wall with goofy lies.

I smoked for 15+ years and have been vaping for the last 2 years and as of a week ago I have went cold turkey to quit vaping. I never saw vaping as a hobby but just a tool to get me off of cigarettes. I have friends who live and breath vaping all day everyday and I never understood that. To me that would be relinquishing control of my life from one addiction and giving it to another. Addiction is addiction no matter what form it comes in and I guess I personally decided to not become another slave of another vice. Plus I like spending my money elsewhere :) So far so good, not nearly as hard as it was quitting cigs.

You got that right. I leave mine sitting around for hours without touching it. It might be right in front of me, and I don't reach for it. Eventually, I'll see it and decide to take a vape. There are days where I use less than 2 ml of eliquid.

I've also gone to no nic for 2 separate 10 day stretches. Both times were no problem.

There are a lot of folks that have been vaping for 5, 6, 7 years, maybe longer. We still haven't heard about a single vaping related illness. It could be 100% safe. So far, so good. I love the way I feel these days.

Excellent!

When I first quit cigs, I called my vape my binky. I chain vaped and stressed about having backup coils and batteries. Now I'm down to 6mg nic and vape a fraction of the juice. I don't carry backup either. I'm only into vaping about six months and I'm just not as interested in it. I'll see what the busy and stressful summer months bring but if the trend for me continues I doubt that I vape another year.

I don't see myself quitting vaping.
I liked cigs, I switched to vaping to get away from the poisons. I like vaping now instead.

If anything, I would just go down to 0 nic.
But bad things tend to happen when I don't get enough nic.

"Fad diets are the next best thing one year, and the next...killing us." I think that's the issue isn't it? We aren't in that next year yet.

I for one have been vaping going on 3 years this march and as a 20 year (and change) smoker of analogs I am EXTREMELY glad I've switched to something with less damage to my health. If it's 0% danger to my health, so much the better! And as I've gotten my wife to vape (she has been nicotine free for over 8 years) as well as my step-daughter (she vapes 0mg nic) I can't in good conscience say it's danger free. But it's a damned better alternative to analogs.

At any rate, this argument you guys had was silly and any sort of definitive statement (regardless of side) will only be disingenuous at best.
