Good article.
Not everyone sees vaping as a social thing though.
And older vapers might often feel out of place in the vape shop with the younger crowd.

Personally I have not been in a vape shop in well over 3 years.

Definitely not Americans. About the only 1:1 I saw was "shops are there to sell", (silly leftist/royalists).

I don't always go to vape shops, but when I do, I'm often the oldest person in there.

Yet never once did I feel unwelcome our out of place, even as a bottom-feeding tootle-puffer when giant cloudz were all the rage.

I’m glad that ppl have good experiences with vape shops, but I’m certain that online sales are making it hard for those shops to survive. But its good millennial vapers have a place to hang (and yes, blow clouds and do tricks.)

I agree with Vic though, the shops talked about in the abstract are probably in the EU/UK.

Forums are doing the same thing, providing community as vape shops do, though. At least for me. :)

Yeah, yeah, yeah...nice article and all that, but my question is......how many people's cocks fell off from vaping....I noticed that wasn't covered in the article.

/e takes a peek... phew..

I don't give a damn about Millenials. The only reason small shops survive is CS and Availability.

I've never walked into a shop in the US that didn't make me start looking for the exits.. Sometimes as soon as you see inside; sometimes when you see the products&prices; and sometimes the moment some numbnut says anything. Now, that may please the Millenials, and if so, fine: you now have your Clubhouse.

I'd also point out that since the first shop I visited.. Oh, 6 years ago? Yeah, 2 had vape-lounges - and, of course, the State nuked that within a year. I'm not even sure you are legally allowed to test a flavor inside the stores now.

I suspect the best route would be to shift to Tupperware/Amway-type "parties" for some of the really clever bizvolken that vape.

In my almost 10 years of vaping, I've never set foot in a vape shop. Pretty confident the markup around here would be substantial.

I believe that most vape shops do not understand what is coming their way in 2 years or less.
Basically total shutdown.
And virtually none try and educate vapers to raise awareness among their customers.
I mean why run off money paying customers while one can still make money from them?

Never read the article here but any current vape shops I go to have many other different products they sell from Regular Tobaccos to Cigars and Energy Drinks or Waters. Online sellers maybe competition but not going to put any of the ones I frequent OOB. They were established businesses before Vaping and the first rule of business is to diversify your customer base. I have seen guys spend more on a few stogies than I spent on coils. Never listen to the opinion of someone who hasn't stepped foot in a real B&M in years because really?

How could this fool know who uses vape shops? He hasn't been in one in years and only uses antiquated obsolete shit so how can anyone put any value in his opinion? WTF are we stupid thinking this has any freaking real world value?

The one vape shop in my neighborhood went out of business but probably because the smoke shop nearby started selling vape gear/juice. (Right by the train and bus stop, so they’re always busy.)
I also figured online shops undercut them too, and the rent was pretty high where they were. Smoking is more expensive than vaping, unless you’re buying a lot of high end hardware and juice. I don’t really, but I see some ppl do here.

Wrong Business model or was poorly conceived from the start. Many small shops come and go like Chinese Take Out places and the like. In my area a convenience store or a 99¢ store will open and be gone in a few months because it was only to launder money. A real true vape shop is never going out of business like some of the vendors who said they were going to close because of the Deeming Regulations. I have been vaping for a long time and I have seen vendors close because of various reasons. Some I say you asshole why? And others I say we won't miss your sorry ass. Remember just my fucking opinion..................

I have never paid a retail price in a smoke shop in my area. Last time I bought a shit load uWell coils he asked me what I paid for them and he said I can never meet that but if you buy 3 or more I can do a deal. Wound up paying what they would cost with shipping so WTF why not~?

I agree. Some people are probably hoping none of this will happen. Which doesn’t help matters at all. And I guess some other folks don’t want to hear it, anyway. It’s depressing.
Non vapers don’t care if our rights are stepped on, like it doesn’t involve them at all, which is shortsighted.

If you Vape you must be an Advocate for Vaping Rights. Send letters and join Casaa and other Advocate Groups. Want to vape until your old and gray then stand up for what you believe in. This is NOT Dem or Republican this is VAPING so make your voice heard~!

The US put all it's eggs into the useless CASAA (whatever) basket.. Most of us just want to be left the hell alone, and we already knew the medical and pharma folks were in cahoots with the FDA. <shrug> So, our 'lobby' took the money and fanned the base, ,, and sent emails.

This is just one of many examples of government overreach and the PC minority. Let it all burn.

I was a contributing member of CASA.
They stopped sending me emails and news so I stopped contributing.

Virtually no politician that can make a difference will take up the banner of vaping.
Too stigmatized by the anti vapers and not enough vapers to make it worth while.

And some of the things proposed in the Past Like Cole Bishop would not have helped things but very little and would have pretty much thrown mech users under the bus and made the deeming regs law instead of a regulation. Cole Bishop did not do away with PMTA requirements either.

I don’t think non vapers realize that if the FDA gets their way, it could open the door to bans and regs on other things. Big time over reach.

No idea what happened with CASAA, they should be gearing up now.

This shit could affect everyone, no matter what their political beliefs are. I haven’t voted in years, though.

I have no idea what happened to them. I don’t even know if they’re around on ECF.

Even though there are probably hundreds of thousands of vapers, that’s a negligible amount to politicians to go out on a limb for, I guess. That teen vape epidemic is nauseating, but they will continue trotting it out since ppl believe it. (And bands of youths stealing vape gear thing too.)

We’re on our own and it’s being prepared that will help now, imo.

OK, I fixed it :)

This is a UK study.
They come to the conclusion that vape shops should offer smoking cessation support.

If this were a US study with the exact same set of variables it would have the conclusion that vape shops are evil and should be closed down or some bullshit.

The number is more like a few million. But it's still only a small, single-digit percentage of the population. Heck, there are still well over 30 million smokers, and the noose keeps tightening on them every year too. It's a textbook example of "Tyranny of the majority".

We’re on our own and it’s being prepared that will help now, imo.
That's how it feels to me.

Almost one in 20 U.S. adults now use e-cigarettes

Lisa Rapaport

(Reuters Health) - Roughly 10.8 million American adults are currently using e-cigarettes, and more than half of them are under 35 years old, a U.S. study suggests.
One in three e-cigarette users are vaping daily, researchers report in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...u-s-adults-now-use-e-cigarettes-idUSKCN1LC2DN

So about 3 million daily vapers.
Out of a population of around 329 million.

It could work, but there would have to be certification or something if they’re going to start helping ppl with stopping smoking. Only to make sure they know what they’re talking about and that they don’t end up in jail from crappy info.

But it wouldn’t go over in the US, with as you said, all the bs about the vape menace to teens, exploding mechs, gangs of vape stealing thugs, yada yada. Very childish attitudes here.

Cessation and such are the realm of Medical Guild - you know, the liars and pocket-liners.

The shops have exactly 1 value, and rarely manage that.

i've been to both good and bad vape shops

unfortunately, since 2017, everything has to be displayed behind black sheeting (so you can't see it) and the shop people can't offer advice. And of course they can't sell nicotine here

they can't even answer questions, like "out of those two tanks, which is airier?" edit: because law prohibits that
