AC/DC album to look up: Highway to Hell It's an older album it was released on 27th of July, 1979. It is back when Bon (Bon Scott) was still on this side of the ground. Then on 25th July, 1980 Back in Black was released with He Who Shall Not Be Named (Brian Johnson) doing vocals. I used to like Grateful Dead. Gotten away from them, now.
Heard an interview with Brian recently . He says he must be the only person, that after almost 40 years, is still referred to as "That new guy"

We don’t listen to the Dead either anymore. They were like a phase or something, but there are still hardcore Dead Heads out there. (Who only like the Dead, achtung.) I like too many other kinds of music to stick to one genre or band!

Yep. Still a lark for me calling him The One Who Shall Not Be Named. :) I actually do like AcaDaca's stuff after Bon died. Still a lot said of Bon, the "special one". I think Brian never would have been caught doing this ...

*smiles, shaking my head* Pretty good. *chuckles* It's okay. :)

About the same here. I just don't like Rap, well not all Rap. I like it if it has a story that doesn't involve "capping some brudder while f-ing his bitches, smackin' his dope". That kind of violent bullshit just ain't got anything, of substance, at least in my humbled opinion. Enough hate in the world without glorifying it in music. I like ICP for Rap but only small doses. They do parody stuff and hilarious stuff though.

Check out The Message by Grandmaster Flash, it’s pretty good too. :teehee: I like understatement!
From what I’ve heard, rap and punk were running side by side for a while in NYC. Hence, the Beastie Boys.
I don’t like violence either, it adds to the bad, bruh. Lol Couldn’t resist, but the sentiment is honestly given.
Walk This Way with Run DMC is good, too. Maybe Aerosmith was copying AC/DC by mixing rap with metal. I think they’re metal.

Somehow I totally missed Heavy Metal growing up. But I’ll look at some vids on YT to see what Shinedown is like. I couldn’t tell you one Iron Maiden song, though.

Shinedown is every bit as good as ANY "classic rock" that has EVER existed -- and I like pretty much all of it, starting with the Beatles! Shinedown doesn't need any of the newfangled classifications like "alt" or "alt metal" or any of that -- they're just plain straight ahead rock your face ROCK N ROLL! It gives me hope that new-ish bands like them can keep the RnR legacy alive!

Not nearly as good as the scene of Steven Seagall shoving that asshole's face completely into the mountain of coke in... hmm, the title escapes me, so many Seagall movies are so much the same... maybe "Marked for Death"? Karma truly is a bad bitch!

AREOSMITH was on the way down at that time. and C'rap was on its way up(for some people). they did that song to try to revive their brand. and it worked.

AREOSMITH v2.0 was good, but to POP for me. AREOSMITH v1.0 just kicks ass !

AC/DC has NOTHING to do with C'rap.

I think every Seagal movie is basically called Marked for Death! Or at least that’s the plot line. :giggle:

Thats basically the only Aerosmith song I’ve heard, except Janie’s Got a Gun. Walk this Way is a good song without Run DMC. I like a couple of old Rap songs from the late 70’s, otherwise I give it a very big miss.
It sounds like you’re yelling at me about not knowing shit about AC/DC!

Yeah pretty much. I used to like him, back in the 80s, but he has not aged well at all, is much too impressed with himself, is apparently a wife beater, and that stupid sprayed-on hair makes him look like a fat Bela Lugosi.

As much as I loved Aerosmith in 1975, I actually really like Aerosmith 2.0 -- after Joe Perry got off the junk. Their song "Other Side" is one of my faves of ALL TIME. Love the harmonies in it! Tyler's kind of a joke nowadays, but he can really sing, and may be the only white person I've ever heard do good "scat" singing.

As I said to Mist, I missed Metal growing up. It’s cool to hear now though.
Kid Rock does some good stuff. Genres are being mixed all over the place, it seems. He does it well.

LoL That hair and those oriental costumes are so bad. He should have really just retired gracefully, but he must need money.
I don’t like his wife beating or ego tripping at all, though. We used to watch him on TV when they would show his movies, but not really now anymore. It’s his stuff from the 80’s that is okay.

It's not boredom I don't think... more like after he finishes his cig he's gonna do all of the Ukraine and then just light up another one as if nothing happened. :)

I just meant that I had missed a lot of music, so there are some bands I’ve heard of, but never heard any of their songs ever.

Is hair metal like metal light or something? Like Diet Pepsi ?

lol, no. "hair bands", from the 80's, are 'thee original" Metal. they were called hair bands, well, because they had the hair.
I never really understood that, or the goofy costumes. other than to say they did it for the attention. idk.

the genre Metal has been highjacked these days. what is now called metal is that hard music that you just cannot even understand what they are saying.:blech:

That’s what I hate, when some guy is yelling at the audience and you have no idea what he’s saying anyways! And the music is basically discordant. Like hardcore post punk stuff was, by a lot of bands. A lot of people liked it, but I thought it was boring. Yuch.

The weird big hair and costumes looked like glam rock or something! Think of the NY Dolls, the 70’s band, for the glammy look! (Or Bolan from T Rex.)

If you want some really great modern rock performed by intelligent guys making fun of/saluting the entire rock genre from beginning to now:

I always kinda liked their music... but after seeing this BRILLIANT video, I also respect their brains!

It was a mirror image of the Ukraine's actual border. On IMDB.com the fact it's a mirror image is listed under 'goofs', but because the table's surface is a mirror I don't think this was a goof, rather, it was probably done on purpose to emphasize Vitaly has developed a strong personal connection to the mirror (i.e., to the stuff that he's been putting on top of the mirror).

Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Trixter,

Hmm

Well Rush but Rush is like their own category.
It's called porogressive or "prog" rock, but yea Rush is in a league of its own. Dream Theater is a "newer" prog rock band. By newer I mean newer than Rush.

And along came the eighties and the Talking Heads. :)

I listen to a lot of stuff. Keep coming back to heavy metal, classic rock. Sometimes though I skip the rock and go classical. All depends on what I like hearing at the time. A lot of listening to silence of late.

Agreed, Shinedown has some good tunes. Heroes is a good one, like their version of Simple Man too.
