He still fits into the asperger's.. the issue is they combined aspergers with autism and dropped a lot of the qualifiers, so it's the reason for the new label.. He knows and I know, labels do not make the person.. I'm lucky Jimi.. he could have been worse.

You are very right, "labels do not make the person" it's sad that people have these labels anyway, it makes me mad when I see someone "label" someone, we all have something different about us and to label someone for a disease they have is just BS. I will keep your son in my thoughts and in my prayers that the program works well for him;)

Those trendy FAKE MEATS aren't healthy!
They're popping up all over the place: fake meats in every restaurant... supermarket... even convenience stores and fast food joints.

And they ALL make two bold claims that have helped turn fake meats into a billion-dollars industry:
  1. This one actually tastes like meat. No, really, it does!
  2. This is so much healthier than real meat.
Well, friend, that first one is a matter of personal preference.

But the second one?

That's a matter of science.

And when it comes to FAKE meat... the science is looking REAL bad!

A new report reveals a DARK SECRET hiding inside the trendy new fake meats, especially those increasingly popular burgers...

And it EXPOSES their impossible promise of better health as nothing more than a marketing lie!

What's really inside fake beef is beyond belief

We're all looking to eat a little better. But, let's face it, we're often undermined by our own appetites for things like burgers.

So several companies have come along with a tempting promise: You can have a HEALTHY burger... without sacrificing the taste or texture.

No more dried-out turkey burgers.

No more grainy, beanie, veggie-burgers topped with sprouts and dairy-free cheese.

And no more slapping a grilled Portobello on a bun and pretending it's a burger.

These new veggie burgers, they claim, are the REAL DEAL--from a grilled and crisp exterior to a perfectly pink inside just dripping with juice.

You can almost taste it already, right?

But a Consumer Reports expert speaking at an event in Washington said these fake meats are in the very same category of unhealthy foods we're all striving to AVOID.

They're PROCESSED FOODS. Not even regular processed foods, but "ultra" processed foods, with at least 40 different proteins and protein isolates in the patties.

This is the opposite of natural food...

It's a lab-created monstrosity!

You know...the kind that's been proven in the past to up your risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and more.

One weird ingredient in the "Impossible Burger" has NEVER been thoroughly tested in humans -- and, as Consumer Reports notes, therefore NEVER been proven safe.

In studies on rats, this "soy leghemoglobin" led to small changes in blood chemistry including reduced clotting ability.

This was a study on rats, but it should at least raise enough alarm to ensure it goes through more thorough human testing before being mass produced.

But that hasn't happened.

This and other fake meat burgers are the hottest thing in the food industry -- and while people THINK that "meatless" means "healthier," these burgers contain about as much fat and even more sodium than normal burgers.

This isn't to say that a normal burger is healthy; of course it isn't. But as a (very) occasional treat, a hand-made burger from lean and fresh ground beef is certainly a lot better than these ultra-processed lab patties (especially if you serve it in a lettuce wrap instead of on a bun).

And if you want REAL good health that allows a wide variety of plant and animal products to satisfy any craving, check out the Mediterranean diet. No gimmicks. No strange ingredients. No empty promises.

Just real, fresh and filling foods that deliver good health AND great taste.

Did you change his diet at all? Donna Gates from Body Ecology started working with autistic and learning issues kids and apparently it helped a lot.
It’s about adding fermented foods to heal the gut flora, and taking out most grains to reduce gluten toxicity. I don’t have the link, but it’s online. It’s called the Bedrock diet or something like that.

It's crazy, and they are selling them like hot cakes under the impression that they are healthy:facepalm:, the chemical that gives it its beefy flavor and makes it bleed causes cancer:eek: but very few research anything they put in their mouth:facepalm::crazy:

I’d say they’d have to pay me to eat it, but not even then. I couldn’t believe when these places started pushing it. I used to eat organic Tofu over 10 years ago, but it got to be hard to get. Eden Soy is really expensive!

Actually, he doesn't do too bad with food, and he is learning to cook and grill out..
He has had a very active summer, and yeah I think he will be just fine.
He loves to look up recipes and how they used to cook 100 years ago.. pretty balanced, but sometimes slides and that is alright..
for every now and then :)

Cows that produce human milk?

mail

That subject line might sound like science fiction, but it’s not: In China, a herd of 300 dairy cows have been altered genetically to produce human milk.

Yes, human milk.

These cows are real, all 300 of them. And although you won’t be able to purchase human/cow milk at the corner market in the United States for at least a few more years, this and other similar products will without a doubt be appearing on store shelves in the not-so-distant future.

How did this happen? China, which has much looser laws when it comes to genetic experimentation and as a country is much more enthusiastic about genetic modification, has been working on the project for some time. In fact, this heard of lab-created cows first made the news in 2011. Since then, Argentina has also created genetically modified cows that produce a similar humanized milk.

mail

The modified cows have human genes spliced into their DNA, which causes the milk they produce to contain Lysozyme, an enzyme that human milk contains in quantities far greater than that of cows or goats. This important protein helps establish an infant’s gut microbiome—an important step in developing a good digestive system, immune system, and overall health. In lesser amounts, the genetically modified milk contains lactoferrin and alpha-lactalbumin, proteins that aid in immune response.

In order to create the cows, scientists in China spliced a single human gene into cow DNA and inserted this into cow embryos (in Argentina, 2 human genes were added rather than one). The cows look like ordinary cows, but produce the modified milk.

A herd of 300 sounds impressive, but the project is not safe or healthy for the cows. Out of 42 genetically modified calves born, just 26 of them survived—ten died shortly after birth, and six more died before reaching the age of six months. The process of cloning and modifying animals genetically is risky, and results in many stillbirths or early deaths. It’s not understood exactly why cloned and modified animals often die, but common sense would suggest that it simply not advisable to splice genes from different species together—especially when one of those species is human.

Long-term research on the genetically modified human-cows has not been conducted, nor have studies been done on the milk and the effect that consuming it might have on humans.

There is certainly a huge problem today with babies not getting enough breastmilk, or babies getting breastmilk that does not have enough of the proper proteins due to maternal health, or babies being raised on infant formula that contains mainly corn syrup. The serious side effects that take place when an infant’s gut microbiome is not properly developed can result in years of ill health through adulthood, as well as long-term psychological issues. So what’s wrong with trying to create a product that helps infants build the right sort of bacteria in their gut?

It would be good to consider this: The reason that we are currently experiencing so many health issues related to gut-microbiome is that we have already tampered with nature enough to cause the imbalance in the first place. GMOs like Bt corn and Roundup-resistant soybeans have played a big role in killing off the beneficial bacteria that ought to be keeping our digestive tracts functioning well—resulting in a generation plagued by leaky gut syndrome, autoimmune disorders, food allergies, and neurological problems.

Overuse of antibiotics is also to blame, both those being prescribed and those found in cow’s milk and herbicides. Our soil has been drenched with bacteria-killing glyphosate to such a degree that we no longer get the healthy bacteria our bodies are designed to run on through produce, and mothers who have been raised on our modern diet of GMO packed, sterilized foods are deficient in these vital gut-bacteria pass on the deficiency to their infants.

Going back and fixing the problems that have developed in our food chain due to Big Agro, Big Pharma, and Monsanto would be the logical thing to do—but instead, new problems are being created. To assume that we can fix the disaster that was created by GMOs by taking steps even further down the tangled path of genetic modification is both arrogant and irresponsible…and will almost certainly result in even bigger issues down the road.

Can The Fruit of this Bushy Shrub
Really Beat Back Cancer?

Appearances can be deceiving. The pomegranate shrub is not much to look at, but its fruit contains a wealth of nutrients for fighting cancer. According to some experts, it puts modern medicine to shame.

This red fruit’s antioxidants and anti-cancer properties have spawned an almost never-ending series of studies that show how it can protect the body’s normal cells while sending cancer cells into a death spiral.

It seems like almost every week a new study identifies a way in which its natural chemicals stymie cancer. This one recently caught my attention...

Researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham found that pomegranate’s natural compounds protect your skin from sun damage that can lead to skin cancer. Here’s how: When the sun’s ultraviolet light hits your skin, it sets off reactions that can potentially interfere with DNA repair, slow down cellular defenses against harmful oxidation, and make immune cells more inflammatory.

In their lab tests and reviews of other research, the Alabama scientists discovered that pomegranate stops the cancer creation process by:1

  • Limiting chemical reactions in skin cells that can lead to precancerous growths.2
  • Inhibiting harmful inflammation.3
  • Preventing tumor formation.4
Now, I recognize that getting some sunlight every day is important for your health. I don’t go along with dermatologists who seem to believe we should slather ourselves with sunscreen and avoid letting the sun’s rays hit our skin at all. We need some sunlight to enable our skin to produce vitamin D. Besides, there are many other health benefits we can get from the sun – like keeping the body’s daily rhythms on track. So we shouldn’t totally avoid the sun as some doctors recommend.

But along with making sure you don’t get too much sun – excessive exposure that leads to sunburn – you need to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables that can give your body the tools it needs to offset the potential harm the sun’s ultraviolet radiation can cause to skin cells. Pomegranate is one of the fruits that are essential for your anti-cancer arsenal.

Prostate defender, when you know how to use it

When it comes to pomegranate’s influence on prostate cancer, the research results have been complicated and a bit controversial. You see, while the initial tests with pomegranate juice and extracts for prostate cancer looked very promising, further research indicates that the natural chemicals in pomegranate seem to help only certain men with prostate cancer.

What all that means: In reviewing tests of pomegranate compounds on men suffering prostate cancer, researchers from UCLA and Johns Hopkins believe that these antioxidant chemicals, when consumed all by themselves, may only be beneficial for men with prostate cancer who are over the age of 70 and who have a certain genetic makeup.5

Please note, this study related to men who already have prostate cancer. It says nothing about the potential of pomegranate for preventing prostate cancer.

But the secret to unlocking pomegranate’s prostate benefits for a wider group of men may be to combine its nutrients with other important natural chemicals. Exciting new research out of England suggests that mixing pomegranate extract with other known cancer-fighting nutrients found in green tea, broccoli and turmeric makes pomegranate more effective in slowing down the progression of prostate cancer.6

So what that says to me is that men concerned about their prostates should be eating a healthy diet containing all of these types of foods, as well as considering supplementation, to get a synergistic benefit that may be able to lower their risk of cancer.

Breast cancer fighter

And when it comes to lowering women’s risk of breast cancer, research reveals plenty of evidence that pomegranate is just what the doctor should have ordered. For instance, a study at the University of Albany in New York shows that pomegranate can restrain breast cancer cells from multiplying and induce the cancer cells to undergo apoptosis – the programmed cell death that is designed to eliminate the body’s malfunctioning cells.7

Studies at UCLA demonstrate that pomegranate compounds stop the action of an enzyme that can otherwise stimulate the growth of breast cancer cells and lead to the spread of tumors.8 At the same time, other research shows that the natural chemicals in this fruit can have epigenetic effects—they stimulate the genes in cancer cells that promote apoptosis, i.e. self-destruction. These pomegranate chemicals also shut down the genes that could otherwise help the cancer cells survive by repairing its DNA and making the cells multiply faster.9

Overall, pomegranate is a great example of how a natural food can contain a collection of natural chemicals that offer enough benefits to keep medical researchers busy for quite a while. Perhaps more exciting, its health effects go beyond cancer.

Relief from Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease

In an important investigation, researchers in India and the University of Louisville collaborated in a study showing that when pomegranate compounds enter the digestive tract they help cut back on cancer-linked inflammation. In doing so, they also defend the intestinal lining from damaging conditions like ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s Disease.10

One key to this defense, say the researchers, is that the probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract convert pomegranate nutrients into what’s called Urolithin A (UroA). And UroA, in turn, increases the accumulation of proteins that tighten up the web of cells that line the intestines and keep toxins out of the body. That helps protect against colitis and cellular damage.

According to the researchers, this type of intestinal therapy offers hope for better treatments to fight inflammatory bowel conditions than conventional medicine has come up with so far. "Restoring the gut barrier and reducing the inflammation using (this type of) small-molecule will provide a better therapeutic output in the treatment of IBDs (inflammatory bowel diseases),” predicts researcher Praveen Kumar Vemula.

The researchers add that before their study, it was already known that UroA could fight inflammatory conditions in the intestine. But the added benefit they found – the fact that it simultaneously keeps the integrity of the intestinal walls intact – reveals that UroA is much more effective for keeping the intestines healthy and potentially cancer-free. That’s not all…

Protects your heart and helps heal burns

Investigations also demonstrate that pomegranate supports heart health by lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of atherosclerosis.11

Added to that, there is even research to show that pomegranate can be used to help heal serious burns.12 When I see studies like that, I know we’ll be hearing even more about how pomegranate helps the human body in the foreseeable future.
