Hey the more Red Meat I eat means less cows to contribute to global warming with their cow farts~!

You also help get rid of manure factories. :)

Then there's also the consideration of human kind over consuming to the point we need "factory farming". And factory farming has a lot of negative issues which could be addressed and fixed. Though doing so would upset consumption rate/s, profits and a whole plethora of heel dragging excuses from the baser nature of human kind.

You do know even sixth graders can get a factory farm home in NC, raising hogs? They give them picture books as pig raising manuals. You don't need to know how to read to have a nice house with hog farm producing rivers of pig excrement washing into the natural rivers. They even cover what to do if hogs get ill, in picture books. Green faced hog, telephone image, three digits to call a USDA approved "doc" (face of man with white mask and white coat) to come fix sick pig. I kid you not, have seen some of the manuals.

And yet we Americans wonder about the rest of the world, "why do they hate us?" Yeah, I can only say, "there's your sign." Excuse me before I ramble to subject matter not worth discussion, that politics stuff. I'll just say I got in a new Tab for vaping and am now realizing I can build coils and hit the ohm I'm aiming to hit. I feel a sense of pride in that, even if it is something tiny. :)

Over my lifetime they said Eggs were no good and Olive Oil was no good to name just a couple.

Been told raw unpasteurized milk is bad to drink, raw meat bad to eat. Lived across from Pawpaw John, worked his dwindling small farm, drank raw milk, ate raw meat. Pawpaw made sure all his grand kids did. He didn't want us getting sick from milk or meat. Have eaten raw hog, raw racoon, raw deer, raw poultry including duck, pheasant, quail, goose, raw bear, raw alligator, scorpion, locust, grubs of all kinds, meal worm, crickets, grasshoppers, ants, earth worms and a lot more I'd do better to not mention. I still refuse getting flu shots too. Not had the flu since 1978, why do I want some doc or nurse putting it into me, even a "dead" bit of it? Cured migraines by eating two pounds of chocolate candies in one sitting. So yeah, done a lot of what was said is "bad" and not really mutated any more than I regularly am. *chuckles* Oh, hold on I'm growing a fourth arm now. Damn it, I was just getting used to three.

Some humans....
As a species no.

Well that's understandable. We humans give the cosmos this word called war. You space and other dimensional folks did not seem to have any concept of war. Here we petty little beings corrupt you, infect you with this Hellish notion. So I can see how you'd like only specific ones of us over the whole race. Tell me though, do we still have hope barring any unforeseen solar flares?

Humans have far to short of a life span to attain peace or the stars.
And if they find a solution to the short lifespan they will just go to war over that.
They fear and hate those that do not act or look like them.
They still use forms of slavery to enrich the few.

There are some wonderful humans but so few. And as a rule not listened to by the masses.
Greed and fear rule.

Ah so as greed & fear rule the cosmos tosses out the babe in the bathwater it would seem.

Can appreciate that candor. Doesn't mean I accept that as an answer. Would rather know that further advanced species would see potentiality in the human race and rage on with hope for us. There again though, can we really be sure there is any more races further along advancement?

Have they actually offered any recent empirical evidence of existing, even simply to inspire us? Yes, of course we all see the pretty lights in the skies but as you point out fear and greed dominate us, perhaps our leaders are making the pretty lights?

I recall meeting someone once what claimed birth in another galaxy. They explained the lack of knowing war to me. Then, also explained if they were ever forced to need to fight, humanity would be gone in less than a blink. Perhaps that is my sign of inspiration and proof of advanced species? Some of you keep us away from that blink which makes us vanish?

Of course we would ;)
And having a positive attitude make this brief existence pass more smoothly for us.
But really changes nothing in the big picture.

*thumbs nose* You, and that big picture! Why can you not simply drink the Kool Aid and smile along with the other minstrels? *chuckles*

I comprehend your point. The larger picture does intervene a good bit in all. Guess you'll just need to consider me an optimist. Even if all the house's cards are stacked, will still think there's a way by.

war seems to be part of us, like eating n drinking.
currently everyone thinks it's bad, but that's mostly due to
applying tech to it, which causes collateral damage.
there maybe a purpose to war that we don't understand.

using just swords, soldiers can kill soldiers without harming civilians, absent war crimes.

War mostly serves a purpose for those in power. Not the ones actually doing the fighting.

there has never been a period without war.
war is our normal state.

just because you don't like it doesn't mean it serves no purpose.
it may be good for the race to eliminate some of the more aggressive males.

War is a word derived from ancient Phoenician. Directly translated to modern English it means, "get more cows". Which if you consider the religious aspects of cows and study back a bit it could as easily mean "get more suns". Ultimately it was about attaining control as a means to power, which boils out to the word "more".

As @The Cromwell points out the base vice of greed, or fear rule us. Greed in that we always seem to want "more". Fear in that we seem terrified of losing "more". This perception that having "more" means one is "better" than another is rather silly when we realize death doesn't care, it takes all equally. There again good luck explaining how silly it is to everyone.

Vikings used swords. Vikings committed war crimes, unless you don't count raping, slaughtering infirm, ethnic cleansing war crimes. English knights used used swords they too committed war crimes in similar ways as Vikings. Japanese Bushido used swords and committed war crimes. My point is no matter the weapons used, even clubs, or open palmed slaps, war crimes can be committed. War crimes are criminal because they are crimes inflicted with higher degrees of severity due to war being ongoing. It's an idea, a construct "polite society" has set up.

I have to chuckle at our use of the word "society". It stems from a word or term which means "family". Now consider a "polite" family, if you can. And then toss in all of humanity's decisiveness and animosity over "differences" such as skin pigments, sexual orientations, weather you like peanut butter, or Marmite, and so on. Yes, lovely "family" we are indeed, non?

If anyone needs know, I like both peanut butter and Marmite/Vegemite. Though rightly, I doubt such matters a whit given consideration of the bigger picture. I then consider I'm halfway to the bigger picture, grin and nod.

well. if war crimes were eliminated, if civilian casualties were eliminated, would war be so bad?

one thing sure, war is normal for us.

yeah, there's greed there, since war started about the same
time we started to grow crops, but i suspect that there's more
than greed involved.

War is an extension of tribalism, and it started long before humans grew crops.

True but tribalism goes back to the Markov needs. You need food, shelter, warmth. It is rough providing those as one unit unto yourself, yep have and yep it is rough. So when others like you are around, you join groups, break up tasks into smaller "bites". Six hands gathering firewood, or hunting gets more wood and food easier than only two.

Yes, it still finds me back to the idea of "more". Why? Well, what if water fall down in morning? No running furry thing will be out, no meat, belly get hungry. So we get more on days no water fall down. Use pretty hot light on meat, it lasts longer. We have food then on the days it rains. Six hands can get berries quicker too. Bring all the "more" in for us.

Uh oh, some that look like us but not us show up. They see our "more" and take it. They run away. Next time we stop them from taking our "more". It's scary not having more, we go hungry. So we see them taking "more", maybe we can go take "more" too?

Yes, it's the simple basis of greed and fear through and through.

Yes it would be, for the same reason that if carried too far any kind of competition can become "bad". There will be winners. There will be losers. Winners get all the spoils. Losers lose the spoils.

If we instead work together and cooperate we can all win. And no this is not socialism or collectivism. I do not identify with either idea nor do I identify with any political idea except perhaps Anarchy. Let me clarify; my definition Anarchy involves peace, equality, volunteerism, and the philosophy of no slave, no master. My definition of Anarchy does not place merit in "might makes right", ergo it does believe in a codec of ethical law and justice.

Is it "good" if you take away from another? "Good" if another takes away from you?

There's a teaching by Confucius. "Treat others as you desire treated yourself." Would it be "good" if someone asked you if you are still using "that"? Could it be "good" for you to ask if another wants "this"?

I'm trying to illustrate something here, not be precise yet still precise. Words get in the way so much. This is something you need to "feel" inside yourself, for yourself, and only you can. No one can "talk" you into it or "out" of it. You'll feel it or you'll not. If you don't well then excuse me and please feel free to ignore me totally. :)

but i suspect that there's more
than greed involved.

Yes, fear is involved too. You (used generally as in you specifically, or maybe the group you are in, family, anyone in general though) fear "others" taking what you have, or taking your life, harming you. On the other side of that, "they" fear the same stuff as "you". And here's the fun when people start bringing religion in, all of you have "god" on your side. How can "god" say you are all "right/good"?

Well, "he/she/it god" cannot say that because "somebody" loses, always and if you consider it everyone loses. Greed and fear are the only winners.

Peanut butter is the answer, unless it's a sausage day.

War is kinda like the human approach to controlling overpopulation same as Lemmings do by jumping over cliffs?
Sad that we are not smart enough to do population control in a less destructive manner.

Humans are still just animals I suppose.

Pfft! War isn't nearly so complicated or rational. Boy do we overestimate ourselves!

It's more like a gut-level "MINE," it's barely a damn grunt, like @MyMagicMist intuits.

Amazing that humans view themselves as the pinnacle of intelligent life in the universe..

I just hope that my contact with humans has not corrupted me too badly or I may not get to ever go home

Well Bub, I think that boat sailed quite a wile ago. Know I ain't the "official" with the "say so" but I think you're part of our little wisdom inferior family, have been a good spell.

*sighs* Sometimes people might wish to forget 36,000 to 48,000 years of knowledge, experience. Real shame some of us older souls have to be cursed to 'member.

Of course did not believe it.

if I can't go home at least it will be good research to watch human civilization once again fall into ruin.
