trouble with eleaf tc60w istick

so, i thought i had managed to get my mod's 'atomizer low' issue resolved... tried a battery swap... nope. tried powering off and back on, nope. tried youtube... and one video mentioned using a needle to scrape out the connector part where the tank-thing goes... nope. i cannot afford to buy a new mod, but this is ridiculous. someone please help! i'm still brand new to vaping, so please, be gentle. thanks!

eta - i can get it to work intermittently by using the above-mentioned attempts. most of the time, it'll hit a few times, and then it'll throw the 'atomizer low' b/s at me. please help... thanks...

Could it be the tank again?coil not seated like last time? Do you know anyone that has another tank you could try on your mod? Or know someone with a mod to try your tank on? What kind of tank is it again. I can't remember.

coil is fine. mod is throwing fits. i've tried using tank on another mod, but the lowest the mod will go is 30 on hers, and i don't like it that high. :( the thank is a fireluke2 freemax (that's what the box says)

It may be that you just have an unfortunate combination of parts there. Sometimes the 510 pin in a tank or RDA just isn't long enough to make proper contact with the 510 pin in the top of the mod.

The 9.99 ohms error is one I've only ever seen if a mod senses that there is no atomizer present. For other types of shorts or disconnect issues, the coil's resistance would be unstable, or you'd be getting an "Atomizer Short" error, something like that.

It doesn't happen often, but it can happen.

Check the 510 pin on the top of the mod (inside the hole you screw the tank into) and make sure it isn't stuck pressed down as far as it will go. Be sure the power is off on the mod first. Sometimes you can get something pointed and just nudge that pin sideways and it will pop back up, if it's stuck down.

All the symptoms you are talking about point to atomizer problem, not a mod problem

Check for a build up of e-Liquid under the coil in the tank. I have seen this a few times and a quick cleaning solves the issue. Good Luck~!

how do i fix the atomizer? CAN it be fixed? i don't have the extra money to buy a new unit. :( i don't even have the extra money to take it to be repaired.

i took it apart and really scrubbed the hell out of it. used a baby wipe and used q-tips and really got in there as best i could. it was a mess.... but it's still throwing that 'atomizer low' bs at me. :'(

as far as i can tell, but then again, i've never noticed that part before... so i'm not sure? the pin does move. i've taken a safety pin and moved it around and it does go up and down, but it doesn't stick up super super far... i can take a video and try to upload it... i can at least take photos, if the video doesn't let me upload it.

What is the resistance of the coil that is in your tank? Also is it a stainless steel coil?

Ok, also, I just read where you said the inside of the tank was a mess - is the coil you're using old? Is it possible that there is a wire inside the coil that's nearly burnt in two? Is the cotton inside the coil gunky?

If you can see the pin moving up and down, it isn't stuck. When you are tightening the tank on the mod, can you feel the tank encounter some resistance, which it would do when the tank comes into contact with that 510 pin in the mod? Tighten the tank slowly and see if you can tell when those two pieces meet.

When I screw it on, I can't really feel any 'resistance' as in it's not fighting me to be put on there if that's what you mean? and I'm being super slow with it - my hands are kinda shaky... nerve damage from too much caffeine at one time years ago, so not wanting to drop anything. lol

I'm not sure if you can see this, but I made an album to show y'all what I'm seeing since I'm not sure how to explain it (the irony! I'm a WRITER!) lol

Here's the blurb about your mod from eLeaf's website:

Compatible coil: Kanthal coil (VW mode)/Nickel 200 coil (TC-Ni mode)/Titanium coil (TC-Ti mode)
Output wattage: 1-60W (VW/TC-Ni/TC-Ti mode)
Resistance range: 0.05-1ohm (TC-Ni/TC-Ti mode)/0.15-3.5ohm (VW mode)
Temperature range: 100-315℃/200-600℉(TC-Ni/TC-Ti mode)

The resistance of your coil is below 0.15. I bet that's your problem.

It looks like to me your mod is just doing it's job. That looks to be a .14 ohm coil? If so, you are getting atomizer low because that resistance is too low for that mod to fire I think. I don't own one, but that is my guess

Oh! How do I fix it where it's at least to .15? CAN I do it without having to take it to a vape shop to be done? I'm a college student, so I'm super broke and don't have the extra funds to cough up...

Thank you. :) I'm wondering if I can bump it up to at least .15, and if so, HOW... I don't have the manual for this thing, because I got it from my one niece second-hand. :/

No, you have to get a coil for that tank that has a higher resistance, like 0.2 ohms at least.

Also... since Google is being fickle about the link, and since I can't upload the videos directly here from my hard drive... I made a 'dummy' page on my website and uploaded them that way so you can see there's some weirdness going on where that spot at the top of my mod is... like it's got some kind of juice or something in there... it's hard to explain. https://www.thatcatholicgal.xyz/p/video-of-my-vape-issue-help.html

I think you're going to have to get a different tank. The highest resistance Freemax offers coils for that one is 0.15. The measurement they list is approximate, and will depend on how your mod senses the particular coil that's in the tank, so that 0.14 coil you have now could actually be one of the ones they refer to as a 0.15 ohm coil.

In other words, you could buy more Freemax coils and still have a problem.

I've corrected this in a later post!

You won't be able to change the ohms of the coil, it is what it is. You need to find a different coil for that tank, on that mod.

Wow, I have been mainly out of the drop in game for a while, but that is the highest they offer?

Actually rockbottomvapes.com has a TX2 coil for that tank that is 0.2 ohms and a TNX2 that is 0.5 ohms. My mistake on that.

that juice down in there is not good, but it may not be bad. it becomes bad when it goes much more down further, maybe = sometimes that area is sealed, sometimes not. you shoudl try to get and keep that dry. clean it out, then over night set it upside down. in the morning clean it again. do this for a while.

and that black plastic thing is supposed to be hard.

Thanks, y'all. When I went to get replacement coils, I took the entire vape - tank, mod, all of it - with me, as I'm still pretty new to this whole thing. I just got the tank-thing back in ... I think December. This 'atomizer low' bs'ery has only JUST started up with the new coils. the coils... i might add.... that the bloody clerk at the bloody store RECOMMENDED. smmfh.

The clerk probably knew jack about the iStick 60, they are ancient as far as the vape world goes

However, they last forever and stand up to a lot - I lost one in a check freezer for over a year, and it still worked when my husband found it

The one I am vaping right now I accidentally dropped off the roof a few months ago. Got banged up a little, but never stopped working

Back when they were first released, very few vaped sub-ohm and TC was a new concept

I'm honestly not sure how long my niece had this one before she gave it to me. I only recently started - after my dog passed away a few months ago. I have a Smok-something, a little one, but the USB port on it needs fixed - thankfully my friend who gave it to me is a whiz when it comes to fixing shit, so he's offered to take a look at it for me. This one, though... I'm going with what @Jinx'd suggested with putting it upside down for a few days. HOPEFULLY that'll help, but... my optimism is quite cautious at this point. As to the clerk at the store... yeahhhh... I need to see about going to the one over in Grove City, where my friend and I went, his favourite vape store, and see if maybe THEY can figure out how to fix this trainwreck of a stituation I've found myself in. Sigh.

Does the Smok have a built in battery?

Yeah. The USB port was loose, my friend's going to try to solder it back together, but it's a matter of WHEN he can carve out some time to do it. Things are kind of hectic on both his end and mine, but his is a bit more tricky as far as schedules, b/c he's gearing up for Summer break before he goes back to Seminary in the fall. :/
