SQ217 vs Vicious Ant Spade 21700, Change My Mind

I think I want one more squonker and I am fixated on these two. Both have pros and cons in my mind and none of them are dealbreakers and I am having a tough time settling on one.

Anyone who's owned one of these or been on the fence about one or the other I would love to hear your thoughts as I try to choose which one I want. Thanks!

Had them both...still have a sq217. Both are heavy hitters. My only con on the VA. Bottle. Can only use VAs. God forbid it broke. Also depending on model. The removal is a pain imo. Mine had the pin. But i used a refiller...solved. the sq uses a revurve bottle. And can also use pulse80s. Me being the matchy matchy person i am. Loved the different combos i could make. VA has doors but expensive. Their frt is 50 on anything u buy. Doors..pins..bottles. whatever
Either way..youll be happy with either. Notice no sq gripes? Good luck deciding

Both Spade and SQ are solid choices. The SQ is a bit nicer and easier to maintain. The Purge is nice as well, but not as nice as the Spade or SQ. If you don't like manual adjusting 510s, go with the Spade. Otherwise, the SQ is a better choice IMO. If you do go with a new spade directly from vicious ant, don't forget any extra doors and bottles you may need. No sense paying their steep shipping more than once.

Also, my Purge doesn't hold a 21700 battery with the door on. It works with 20700s fine though. But I've heard some do work with 21700s with no problem. So that may be something to consider.

I've tried 30Ts and 40Ts and my door won't close all the way with either.

well I think Sanyo 20700s are a fine option, but if you absolutely had to use your 21700s some cautious wet sanding and finishing with micromesh would do the trick IF you are comfortable doing that sort of thing

That's what I use in it, sanyo 20700s. I'm fine with it that way. I have a wood shop and could sand it down, but it doesn't bother me so much that it motivated me to do something about it.

I just wanted to mention it because they are marketed as 20700 compatible mods, not 21700. So there is no guarantee that a 21700 would fit, and that may be a deal breaker for some.

yeah I don't know guys, the Purge may not be quite as nice as the SQ or the VA, but damn look at that Ultem version. I might have to buy the Purge while I decide between the SQ and the VA, because I am absolutely more drawn to it than the others.

By no means is it a bad mod. The SQ and Spade just feel a bit better finished. All three perform very well.

You can find the Purge discounted for really good prices if you look around. I think I saw one a few weeks ago for under $100 new.

if you find that send it my way, I haven't seen the Ultem less than $156

I want to thank everyone for helping me make up my mind on this. In the end you always go the way you want, but the feedback is helpful even when you don't end up taking the advice IMO. I got what appears to be the last black stab Purge Ultem in existence, and I am topping it with an ultem Dang! If I decide to add one more after this it's going to be the black SQ217 with a black RDA For Vaping. Thanks guys!

Sorry for a delayed reply as I've not been online much lately. I've only had the SQ and the Purge so I can't speak to the VA. I tried to buy a VY in Feb but they didn't want my money so it didn't happen. The SQ is perfectly designed. Super simple to maintain, hits really hard, can use many different bottles, and (this is subjective) is really comfortable to use.

The Purge is nice. It's also very well made, but the edges are very sharp and it's really large for what it is. It also doesn't hit near as hard as the SQ. I feel the contact is just better designed on the SQ.

For my money SQ all the way. Again, I can't speak for or against the VA.

I forgotten about the Purge hitting lighter. I fixed mine by shaping the end of the contact bar to match the curve of the circular 510 contact. It made it fire much better. I can get a pic later if anyone wants one.

i had thought about doing that exact same thing. odd that they didn't make them that way. and its odd that they didn't vapor polish these, they would have sold a lot more, for a higher price.

yes but you could absolutely bend 3/16" of that bar down and not affect the button stability or operation, then shape it like the pic I posted so that it makes maximum contact with the 510

Yep. Same idea as that. It makes a stronger connection from the increased surface area.

That's the way the Armageddon squonkers are done. Some of the ones some of us bought, from that batch that Florida Vape Supply put on sale cheap, weren't shaped quite right, so the way they fire was affected. Seems like @Jinx'd said at least one of his would hardly fire at all. All that is just to say that the shape of that cutout needs to be right.

Here is mine. Works great, just need to finish polishing the contacts (only the parts that touch are polished now).

it wasn't the shape, that was fine. the notch, or whatever it called, had burrs on it, so almost nothing was actually touching. 2 of them flat out quit firing. after my sand job, they are working just fine.

Ok, good to know. I misunderstood. Seem to be doing that a lot lately. Thanks.

I've seriously considered vapor polishing my Purge. I hesitate because I've never done it and don't wanna screw this box up.

and this will be at my house via DHL from England on Weds thanks to Superior Vapour. It's nice to have something to look forward to in the mail when everything else seems so grim right now. Credit where credit is due, thank you Superior Vapour.

I have seen it done, and it looks really easy. But I am betting it can go very bad really fast.
