I was fine when smoking, but now vaping makes me gag.

So smoking never made me cough, even when I started. Now I've quit smoking and have been vaping for a few months. This gag started whenever I drag on the vape now. Doesn't matter if it's primarily VG or PG, I gag now and cannot inhale it all. I also constantly have flem in my throat. Is this common for vapers?

More information needed. What mod / atty, what juice, what nic mg, what wattage / voltage, what wicking material, what ohms.

Ce5, 650mah battery, 2.4 ohms, organic cotton, and all juices from MyFreedomSmokes. Nic ranges from 0mg to 12mg. I vape about 1ml a day.

0 to 12 mg is a HUGE range. If all of it makes you cough and is unpleasant you might just be allergic to something and maybe vaping is not for you. Just saying.

I had some congestion issues in the mornings for a couple months when I first started lung hitting 10+ ml heavy
vg juices per day, but never coughing or hacking. After that adjusting period, I've been congestion free since. My daughter
on the other hand did get some of the symptoms you describe when she started vaping max vg juices. We are
currently determining which vg/pg ratios she needs to eliminate the issues.

I hope you can find a way through this without going back to smoking rj.

I found it took me about 2-3 weeks to get over the hacking/coughing when vaping...depending on how long you smoked will determine how long the brown ooze that is in your lungs comes out (you will be coughing up brown phem for a while)

What type of cigs did you smoke (full flavors) or lights/ultra lights? 0-12mg as others have said is a huge swing...stick with a mg level close to what you were smoking to begin with..then work your way down from there. 18mg is for the full flavor hardcore pack to pack1/2 a day (like marlboro reds like me) 12mg is for full flavor 100's maybe a pack or less a day, 6 for light/ultralights...that is a safe place to start mg wise on your juice

I still get occasional vape that hangs and makes me cough...part of vaping I suppose and I vape my bottom Kanger Protank 2 style coils at 6.5W and my genesis style RBA's at 8-10W so I am not a sub ohmer at all.

I also vape my eGo battery coils at approx 1.8Ω..2.4Ω always gave me weak vapor and I think I ended up pulling juice droplets rather than vapor off the coils...but there is a technique...try instead of a long hard drag like an analog, take short puff puff puffs on it like trying to start a 1/2 lit analog or a cigar

Happens to me too.. Makes me cough while dragging, and I have a morning cough now.

About to give up and go back to smoking..

VG makes me cough like that - you might consider trying pg based liquid!

Bum a smoke, dont cough.. Go figure.

Yeah, I have this problem more and more. So what I find myself doing is just not inhaling. If I pull the vapor into my mouth and exhale, I still get the nicotine (absorbed this way too), and I don't cough. Having kicked a 40-year smoking habit there's no way I'm going back to smoking!

Well, I had quit smoking (cold turkey) for 3 years... But, life crap happened and I screwed up.. So, 6-7 months later I was smoking 2x more a day than I was before, and ran across vaping. Figured good way to quit but still get nic, right? Naw.. think I'm just gonna go back to cold turkey and be done with it all :)

Does more airflow help?

Or maybe straight to lung hit?

Actually.. did it with the Evod/MT3S, all the way up to a Mutation, so doesnt seem to matter.

Maybe you are allergic to something in MFS liquids. Have you tried any other brands?

Ya.. does suck.. I love the flavors :)
Speaking of flavors, I've found - for me - that coughing is dependent on the flavoring used. Have you tried unflavored juice? Just as a means to determine if it makes you cough as well. There are flavors that I avoid in the mornings that I have no trouble with later in the day.

Good idea! I have tried fruits, tobaccos, NETs, etc, but not unflavored.. I do have a bottle of VG here, might be worth a try.. Thanks :)

I do not cough often, but I need tissue all the time as my nose is runny whenever I vape.

My Doctor told me this. Your body is adjusting to not being bombarded with poison. Had you kept smoking you would most likely be dead now. Tissue costs much less than a casket. Runny nose V Dead. Hmmm.;)

Your body will get used to it...but it takes a while

Just make sure you drink ALOT more water than you used to

worse comes to worse...cut WAAAAAAAY back on the analogs...like a cig and vape the rest of the day or something...but your body will get used to it

Have you tried other juices from different vendors?

Well there is only one way to know. Try cutting out everything systematically. First cut the nicotine, if the issues persist, then move on, if they stop, you've found the culprit. The eliminate the VG, if they persist, cut the PG, if none of those are the cause, then it is most likely the flavouring in the juice.

Most will not want to admit it, but there is more than just 4 solutions in e-juice, sometimes upto 50 solutions depending on flavour. You may be alergic to something in the flavouring, which could cause gagging and coughing. I would ask the company who you buy from for some info on it, and if they use oils, artificial, or natural flavourings.

Of course I'm only taking a guess as to what it could be, I would also suggest going to a doctor just to be sure it isn't something else.

Your body is probably adjusting to vaping since it’s cleaner. This was the same problem with me too, I advice you to keep on smoking the same nic level for a few weeks and maybe go higher if you wish.. Start by taking small lung hits. after a while, you’re not going to be feeling that and you can drag your hits
