Ejuice has no flavor and if it does its harsh

Hello VU i have been searching and searching google for a couple of months now and i am unable to find an answer so here i am. I started DIY EJUICE probaly about 3 1/2 months ago. I have made some good ejuices. The ejuices that are good i put them on a dripper and the taste is wonderful!. However, Filling my Lemo RTA up or any Sub ohm tank that I own the taste is Harsh and sometimes flavorless. I have tried using no NIC, With Nic etc. I have tried lowering the flavor percentages, raising the flavor Percentages. I have used multiple Flavor Brands such as VZ, TFA, CAPELLA, FW. Have tried different brands of PG, VG WZ VG AND PG, WALMART VG, Vice pre mixed VG/PG and MBV Premixed VG/PG Nicotine base. I have only tried one Nicotine base and its 100 PG from WZ at 60 mg. I use to think maybe its the nic but after trying my e juices without the nic and still getting the same taste in my LEMO RTA I feel like im doing something wrong. Has anyone had any similar experiences with there RTA tanks and DIY Ejuice. I have also used Sweeteners have not used MM OR VW. have used vanillin on vanilla custard ejuices with no good results either. Explanation of flavor im getting from the RTA and sub tank attys: Sometimes Flavorless, Harshness, Waxy. If i put a little of the ejuice on my hand it taste pretty good but does not taste the same in the tanks. If i go and buy a bottle of ejuice from any distributor the juice taste great in my Lemo or Sub ohm tanks any help guys I would love you for a life time!

So, your DIY juices taste good in the dripper but bad in the tanks? And purchased juice tastes fine in tanks?

If they are fine in the dripper but not in tanks, it's something about your build and the watts you're running it at (or the cotton/rayon/whatever you're using). I would think! More details would help!

For instance, My subtank Mini i usually run it at 20-24 watts with pre built coil head at 1.2 and have tried 0.5 coil head
Lemo RTA i have tried a 1.2-1.4 builds with Jap Cotton usually run anywhere from 28 watts-36 watts

Drippers- Plume Veil, hobo Magma and Veritas currently have tried single coils of 1.0-1.2 28-35 watts but i usually always build 0.3-0.5 50 watts or more dual coils. i get good flavor on both single coil and dual coils

I use exclusively DIY juice in both drippers and subtanks (and Reos). If your store bought juice is tasting the same in both - I'm at a total loss as to why this is happening to you!

Presumably you've tried lower wattage (15 watts, maybe?) Perhaps post one of the recipes that's giving you trouble?

What you outline is my experience with tanks vs drippers in general. Once I got my Magma, I simply refuse to use my tanks. I realize this doesn't help, but just sayin.

I have a Magma, subtanks, and a kayfun. My juice tastes good in all of them (similar builds with KGD) - so this doesn't entirely make sense!

what ratio of bases do you use? I am gonna go on a limb and say its probably higher in pg or 50/50, try 70% vg....

I agree, only tank I've ever used is the atlantis and it's still sporadic use, still doesn't help but I'm glad I'm not alone

The first thing I think of is VG ratio. What is the vg ratio of your juice? The thickness could be HUGE problem in tanks like the lemo especially, and possibly the subtank. When you say 'store bought juice tastes fine', are they also much thinner than your diy juice? Not all attys are able to use thicker pg/vg ratios.

I used to have the same problem with my kayfun, and it was because of the juice's thickness.

When I make juices they are always 50/50 or 70vg 30pg

For instance suicide bunny mothers milk is fairly thick of a juice it vapes fine in the lemo.

The juices I create drip wonderful but put them in the lemo or any other tank and for some reason the flavor is instantly muted and taste bad

I'm at work now but when I get home I'm going to share some recipes also

Im in the process of rediscovering my tanks after dripping for many months. The one thing ive found with my kayfun and protanks is that the flavor sucks, not burnt or harsh, but just not very noticeable.
When these were my only tanks, they were just fine, but now after being used to rich full flavor, these tanks are little more than a nicotine delivery device.
My orchid is a much different story, its flavor is amazing and very close to dripping.

Hopefully you find your problem. There is a reason for it.

Yeah it's just weird that the only juice that taste bad in my tanks are the ones I make any other store bought juice taste wonderful

I've been thinking about this for a while now, and I have a plausible answer. My guess is that you test your mixes on a dripping atomizer (testing in tanks would be awfully non-frugal). When you get a mix you like, it is blended perfectly for that dripper. One thing I have learned since I have been DIYing is that most juice manufacturers over-flavor the crap out of their juices. e.g. there was a recipe on here recently for unicorn blood that used 30% flavoring, and I have no doubt this is truth.

Anyway, when you switch to a tank, perfectly flavored juices seem weak and harsh while over-flavored juices seem flavorful. It's just a matter of the limitations of flavor production in a tank format.

Just a wild thought....carry on.

That seems to confirm, my experience with tanks.

I'm finding this as well. I've used rdas for a long time and get big vapor and a lot of flavor. Now, I'm getting back to my kayfun and protank for shits and giggles, but all of my flavors and nic feel were seriously muted.
I have to use double the nic and +50% more flavoring to get a satisfying vape.

I have Exact same experience on occasion and find WATTAGE in sub tanks are the key. If flavorless or harsh in some of my DIY liquids I crank it up and it always tastes fine then
