WHO HATES MERINGUE?

I never understood why some people can't stand FA's awesome Meringue flavor. Until just now. I opened a new bottle of it that I got from a long-time, major FA seller - and this is total CRAP! It smells like rotten eggs and tastes horrible to vape. The fact that is not perfectly colorless (it's just a little amber) should have clued me in. It's not some other FA flavor in the wrong bottle. I don't know what it is, but this is the first time I've gotten any FA flavor this messed up from anywhere.

So if you're one who can't stand FA Meringue, please PM me or post to tell me where you got yours. I hesitate to post names online, but I'll happily tell my source by private message. If a bunch of us got horrid flavoring from the same source, I'm also happy to talk to them about it.

I've updated my notes on FA Meringue: http://vapingunderground.com/threads/my-notes-on-flavourart-meringue.2696/

The good news is, this (imo) fouled-up Meringue is super in my lemon meringue pie.
The bad news is, I think it screws up every other recipe I've used it in, and I think MANY of us have this now.

If you've been unhappy with any of my recipes that use FA Meringue, I suggest FA Marshmallow (same percent) as the best replacement I know. (And thanks to @Thunderball , who has always preferred Marshmallow, for that suggestion!)

Like I wrote in my Meringue notes thread, I'll update there with any other news or info. I'm seriously disappointed in this!

I bought replacements for all my 3ml samples including 30mL of Meringue in January. Haven't run out of the older one yet. Hope it's the same.

You better open that one and give it a whiff and maybe taste a drop on your finger. It's a very noticeable change to me! It's also got a hint of amber color to it (might have to hold it against white paper to notice), unlike the older perfectly-clear batches.

Checked the color and it's perfectly clear. Think it may be okay. Not going to crack it open just yet. My small sample is still full even tho' I posted a recipe using it the other day. One drop at a time goes a long way. I think it looks more clear than the small bottle.

Well that sucks. Thank goodness my 10ml. Is good. I am in love with 2 parts cinnamon 1 part meringue.

Thanks, HIC. I just went to check mine out, and one (older) bottle is a distinct amber color (almost like the color of your avatar!). The newer bottle just has a hint of amber color. Neither smell that bad, but drops of both taste terrible . . . very harsh. It's not a flavor I've used a lot, but I think I'll get a new bottle in my next order. Thanks for the heads up . . . what I tasted definitely would not be a good addition to any mix!

OK, first 2 mixes done. I made up 750ml of 16mg base to start then made these:
1. HIC's sore throat helper (AMAZING!!!)
2. 1% strawberry
1% anise
1% Vienna cream... It's pretty good now, I'll let it sit a few days and see how it developes.

Thanks everyone for the great advice and guidance!

You know, I wonder if the one that Tball got and didn't like was a new batch? I realize it's been a bit, but is it possible? Hmmmm. Man this sucks!

I thought of him when I first read about it, lol. Glassgrl, too. She also doesn't like it.

From the info people are sending me, I can't yet determine if there was a cutoff after which it changed, or whether it's an inconsistent flavoring (and I've always lucked out getting good ones until just now). It's puzzling.

If it helps, I just bought 3, 10ml bottles from ecig express and they all smell fine and taste good. All 3 bottles are perfectly clear, almost like water.

They need to fix it and do it yesterday. We want our Meringue! I'm not affected, yet, but we NEED this flavor!!

Talk about a flavor we need, it's Vienna cream. Seems to be in almost every one of HIC recipe and it's the one that is always out of stock. I ordered some from eliquidmart and it's taking forever to get here. For now on, I'm ordering everything priority . It was supposed to be here today and I have 3 bottles of juice made up with all the flavors added but everyone is waiting for Vienna cream.

That's all I've been ordering, thus why I've spent about $200 on flavors in the last month. Plus, I've been getting most of my flavors from ecigexpress. They charge $3 for 10ml and $6 for 30ml and they always have a 10% coupon so it's like getting 10ml for free.

I wish I would have bought 60ml of Vienna cream though

I grabbed FW swedish fish with community recommendations in mind and after seeing this cocktail recipe. Just need to make a FA triple sec now, got all the oranges (holy trinity?)

My actual cocktail experience is similar to a virgin's and I haven't tasted triple sec in years.

edit: just remembered there's several specific threads I can go harass for this, yay VU

I just got fa gin flavor for the first time. Wow!

Now reading backwards to find out all the talk about meringue. I think I just got some in my last order this week.

Long time lurker so hopefully this will be useful to some of you... Ecigexpress has 15% off FlavourArt all weekend. Haven't seen this posted on VU so I thought I'd share. Coupon code FLAVOR15 good through May 10th.

Hah, I just did the same thing! Tried making purple cow and must have messed up somewhere. Holy grape perfume! I'll have to dilute it a bit and try again. Thankfully it was only a 10ml batch.

I'm a huge fan of Grape (in theory anyway). I can't use FA Grape Concord. At all. Ever. I've made so many combinations with it (including Purple Cow, hail HIC) and I can't vape any of them. I've even thrown away the bottles that have ever had any GC put into them. I can't reuse them and I may never recover from GC PTSD. There are FA flavors that I don't like, then there's Grape Concord. It was the first flavor in my PIF box. Flavorant over. Sorry everyone. :(

@KeyserSoze for me it's purple grape (I'd probably like white) and red cherry (black is still great) tastes. Have not had any that can seduce my taste buds in the slightest, they all taste like robitussin to me. Mad fruit (should be called mad grape imo) made my poop list too. A little bit in a big mix and the purple can still hit my nose first - I have to block it out, like hearing a good band with a vocalist having a very rough night.

Those tastes aren't exactly gross, but only marginally better tasting to me than cough syrup with a similar experience, so those rainy days I vape them are motivating to get mixing something else. bitch bitch bitch thank you I'm done now!

I knew 2 things when I got into DIY.
1 - I wanted good Grape and cherry flavors
2 - Number 1 wasn't a real thing.

I tried with Grape anyway. Bought about 7 from different manufacturers. Some are vapeable (Hangsen and TFA Grape Juice but neither actually tastes like a grape) and others are pretty meh. After that I'm not buying a bunch of cherries.

That's how I feel about their cherry.

I have cherry and black cherry, they don't offend me but I haven't made anything amazing with them yet either.

Enough about less-than-awesome flavors!

How bout that White Peach huh!? :D

I agree totally with this. To me, it goes from perfume to funky, but never to grape. Black grape's one of those flavors like coconut and strawberry that seem difficult to duplicate.

Check out your (a?) hairdresser for the rayon. It's the stuff they use when they do perms, when they wrap stuff around your head (at least I think that's what they do with it LOLOL). My hairdresser had a big box in the back (although I'd already bought mine by then)!
kotex ultra tampons are rayon. Gotta read the box and make sure. Some are cotton/rayon blend, some straight cotton. People in the ecf rayon thread figured it out and are using it. Myself I use graham 100% rayon fibers cellucotton bought locally(Wi) at sallys beauty supply. It is used as you said for perms and hair dye barrier.

I'm not sure if I could wick with a tampon. I'm openminded in general but for some reason that gave me pause. The fact that it gave me pause, also gave me pause. I'm not used to things like that bothering me. Weird.

Dude, it's not like it's used.
I've been hearing that it works even better than Sally's (Cellucotton) and maybe the stigma passes once you've disassembled it into a nice, neat, flat little pad...once you get past the applicator, outer wrapping, discard the string...:D

I hate to say it, but Lorann's has the best grape flavor - but there's the issue with coloring, and it stains everything.

I figured I'd leave the string in place for easy rewicking. (KS has no idea how a tampon actually works)

Dammit @wllmc I can't even remember who NV is and now I have to order another Grape just in case it's good. I've been meaning to PM you on another matter anyways. Maybe tomorrow.
He won't touch them if she tells him he has to go to the store to buy more :D
I'll buy tampons for my gf all day long and not even ask for a bag but I'm betting they cost 10X as much as bulk rayon, per foot of wick material. That's the other reason I don't wanna use them all up.

You don't wanna leave the string - that part of it is polyester. Don't use the outer wrap either (thin layer of something around the actual rayon wad). That's some other funky material.
They are pretty spendy. Jeremy (Mr. Rayon himself) was probably just looking for alternatives that are more readily available. haha like that damn box of Sally's will ever run out. :D

If I did have to wick w a tampon I wouldn't use the string. I was trying to be funny. Keyword = trying.

Thanks @AmandaD and @wllmc about the pointers for nicvape Grape. I'll put it in the list.

I just picked up another 15 feet from the hairdresser across the street. I had to force $5 on him for it. 10 months ago he gave me 10 feet of it and wouldn't take any money. It costs him $15 for 500 feet of it.

I find it is really useful for testing. There is no break in time involved. I do however prefer cotton for long term use. I guess I sort of don't trust rayon.
