HIC's Purple Cow recipe: This is a 1920s ice cream parlor version of a Purple Cow float or milkshake, which used Concord grape juice and vanilla ice cream. If you have FA Grape Concord, here's a way to make it taste like purple grape juice.

3% FA Vienna Cream
2% FA Grape Concord
1% FA Vanilla Classic

Shake and vape works fine, but I prefer the smoother flavor I get after this sits around a couple days.

FA Grape Concord is flavor I don't use often. Standalone it tastes too floral to me. In recipes it can overwhelm other flavors. But I think it's perfect mixed like this - finally found my purple grape juice! If you don't have the flavor, get some Welch's and make a real Purple Cow. They're tasty!

Weird, I know...my mom used to make us pineapple sherbet with Concord grape juice. They were my favorite. I don't have grape, but do have forest fruit so I will give that a try. Depending on how that turns out I may mix a little pineapple...you've inspired me to experiment

I made this up yesterday, vaped just a little then, and am vaping it right now. Very, very good mix. I am playing with the power on my IPV, and at lower watts the grape is more dominate, and at higher watts the vanilla comes out to my taste buds. Thanks HIC

I only have flavors express grape. Can i substitute for FA concord and if so, what would be a good amount. I don't really want to buy concord since most say its perfumey

I haven't tried that one, so I have no idea what percentage you'd want. This recipe is specifically made to whip that FA flavor into shape. If your FE doesn't need as much discipline, it'd surely taste fine with the vienna+vanilla, which tastes like vanilla ice cream. If that's the only grape flavor I had, I'd try it.

If you were going to use bilberry would vanilla burbon be better than classic?

I'd stick with classic, which (with Vienna) is like plain vanilla ice cream. Bourbon isn't as sweet, but it's bolder, more like French vanilla.

There are two things you can do. You could use less Grape Concord. Or you could get a bottle of Welchs' Concord grape juice and sip some before or while you vape this. I know that sounds strange, but the "aromatic" bit of the flavoring isn't as out of place as it might seem, at least in this recipe. Take a sip of Welchs', exhale, and notice the flavor you taste. I have some grape vines that produced their first crop last year, and eating fresh Concord grapes (and other wine grapes) was way more floral an experience than I expected. Fresh juice was sweeter, more aromatic, and stronger than a bottle of Welchs', too much for me without adding water.

Thanks HIC

I'll most likely try another batch with less flavoring. I'm also needing to order some flavoring so maybe I'll find one that will make it more of a sweet/candy grape milkshake. Thank you for helping and sharing your recipes with me it helps a lot.

Made this recipe up a few days ago(along with a few other HIC recipes). On my first shake & vape it tasted like straight up perfume . I let it steep for a week and I must say the perfume taste almost went completely away (but I can still taste it).I will try to lower the grape flavor on my next attempt. Thanks

FA Vanilla Classic is like a vanilla extract flavor, so pick the one you think is most like that.

Any idea with this concord groape to use in a smooth milkshake. Grape I find hardest to use . Since I have much from making this recipe . Would like to see other recipes for the Concord grape...

Hey, I have grape in my next vapemail, but I do have cherry. Think that would play nice in this mix? If so, how much? I was thinking maybe 1%. Just a guess though.

It sounds reasonable to me - give it a try! edit: oh wait - I thought you meant to ADD it to this recipe. As a substitute for Grape Concord? You'd need at least 3% Cherry to taste as strong, probably more, and Black Cherry would probably work better than Cherry.

Sadly I only have cherry. Will get black cherry soon. I am slowly getting my flavours library up. It WILL happen.

My flavours just came in and I mixed this first thing. My grape smelled very perfumey so not sure. And this liquid has a bite to it. Going to let it steep a couple of days and see how it turns out.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

Hmm, very strange. The concord grape that I got from BCV tastes very floral. Could out need to steep? I thought it smelled quite floral when I first opened the flavor too. Has anybody experienced this before?

HICs notes on it are : FA Grape Concord
Fresh-picked Concord dark grapes from the vine, bitter skin and all. Fresh Concord
grapes are strongly flavored and aromatic, and so is this flavoring. This is not Welch’s
juice, pop, or candy flavor - and it’s quite strong. 2% as the main flavor in recipe gives
very bold grape flavor, and <1% still stands out. Mix with plenty of sweet flavors and/or
keep below 1% Grape Concord for milder grape juice flavor. This can be a tricky one to
mix with, but it really is the flavor of this particular grape variety right from the vine

I have a bad cold but yes it does smell floral

Ok so it is supposed to be floral. Will out die down a bit after steeping? Mixed it at 2%tad per the recipe an it is quite strong.
