Oh yeah I did have to cut that hole and it sucked. LOL. Ton of filing, I could get it a little better, but I had to walk away from it for a while :) I'll try and get it a bit more square next week. I have been vaping on it hard last week.

It looks good as is ... you don't have OCD do you? :D

yeah that's probablly been the single biggest reason most vapers have never tried squonking...the mods are so expesive.

I am curious about the modified 510 and the Fat Daddy kit - how does that work? (I have some Fat Daddy 510 v4s with the BF core for a wood box project)

Are you referring to the Bottom Feeder Bottle Attachment or the RDA BF Conversion Kit

I just got the terminator the other day and I like it. I tore that bottom pin out for the battery and put a brass spring there instead. Modified the bottle and hose set up a bit also. I was debating getting another REO but I think I am good with this for now. I like the 2 pistol logos on it myself :) I got the white one. I love how light it is. I have not modded the atty yet but I plan on doing so, Zenith 2.5 clone works great. FYI a thinner hose that comes on most other BF's will slide into that original hose on the terminator. The thinner hose squonks better IMO and it allows me to use better bottles than the one that came with it. Naturally I did have to cut the original hose much shorter but I left it long enough to slide about a 1/2 inch of the thinner hose into it. If you do decide to try this, check first to make sure your hose will fit inside and then only cut off a little at a time of the original and recheck often because obviously once you cut that original hose ........well, you know.

I have a Dimitri clone too, but I don't think I'm going to convert it to bf ( though I definitely did think about it), the thing is a brick weight wise and I like to carry my mods that I use a lot. It's one that I vape at home mostly. Same goes for my Telsa Invader II. That's one thing I really like about the Owl/Terminator is it's a very pocket friendly mod once you drill the atty's center post at the deck it won't leak out the air holes from over squonking.

The Smokless owl seems to be about the cheapest bottomfeeder and people have been giving it pretty great reviews. I'd have to say for $25 very hard to complain about it.
I have one. The atty only has airflow for dual coils, so no single coil setup. Tons of airflow and a huge chuff style drip tip means that its more of a cloud chaser design which is more or less the opposite of what you'd want on a squonker. At least I'd want a small chambered flavor atty. The mod itself is all plastic except for the metal top and 510 connector. But then again its only $25 and a great way to decide if you want to squonk.

Need some help, please. What battery do you need for the Owl? Flat top, 18650, but volt? R? mAh? Get 2 or 3? Thanks!

Flat top. Can't see how you could get the extra height of a button top in the very minimal space provided. Since the Owl atty is a dual post design and low ohm builds are so popular, I'd assume that you'd be building between 1 and 0.4 ohm. For the sub-ohm battery, you want something that has the ability to handle decent current, 20A or better. Some good 2500mah (or better) with 20A (or better) capacity are: Sony VTC5 (almost impossible to get), the purple Efest "35A" 2500mah (the pulse is 35A, continuous discharge which is what counts for vaping use is 20A {got a bad rep because of the mislabeled Amp rating but decent when you use them for what they actually are}), the Samsung "baby blues" a 20A, 2500mah battery with a powder blue wrapper. The baby blues can be had for around $6, see Vapor Joe's blog for eBay deals. The Efest purples can be found for about the same $6, lightening vapes on eBay, among others but many places sell them for more. Also be sure to get the 35A, 2500mah ones since there are at least 4 different types of purple Efest battery but just one with those ratings. LG makes a good 20A, 2500mah battery, red wrapper, but I can't remember the model number (HE2 or HE4 perhaps).

Get at least 2 batteries and a decent charger. Vape one while the other charges. If you get a charger that will use 1A to charge, the second battery should be charged before you need to replace the battery. If it only charges at 0.5A you may want a third battery. I'd also suggest that you get an additional spare. If you tear the wrap on a battery or damage it in any way, just toss it and start using the spare. Your safety, and remember we hold these things right next to our face, isn't worth the $10 that a battery costs.

Since your question implies to me that you're new to devices which take separate batteries, I'd suggest hunting for a general LiOn battery safety thread. I'd think there's one here somewhere but I'm more familiar with ECF and can't point to such a thread here.

Thank you so much, @bsoplinger! This is actually for my daughter, she wants to try bottom fed and she is not getting my Reo mini. Yes, I'm new to BF and to replaceable batteries! I thought I'd make her a coil about 1.8? I'm going to put a derringer on it for her since I have never tried dual coils.

If you need indestructible look at the Dimitri mod (DIY solution) on the previous page - pretty clean setup for ~$50

You need to use an atomizer designed for bottom feed use. The difference from a normal atty is a hole through the center of the 510 connector to let the e-liquid flow into the atty from the bottle in the mod, (usually hooked up to the bottom of the 510 connector via a flexible tube). So you can't use a Derringer unless its been modified. You can buy a Chalice 3 clone from any of the Chinese vendors you buy the owl from for about $10 to $13 which is a nice single coil small (14 or 15 mm diameter, eGo sized) chamber flavor atty with the hole through the 510 connector so its ready for a bottom feeder.

Dual vs single coil really isn't too difficult. Just make 2 of the same coil, same gauge, same size and same number of wraps. The resistance of a dual coil will be half of the resistance of a single. So if you make two 1.8 ohm coils for the dual build, you'll get 0.9 as the combined resistance. The atty has 3 posts, 2 on the outside for the negative leg and a center post with a pair of holes to attach the positive legs. Its a very simple to build on design. So don't let that dissuade you. The Owl atty is designed to be a cloud chaser. Works well enough as one. Not on par with the latest and greatest designs but well enough for a $25 package.

As far as the all plastic body... Its not too bad. Between the embossed design on the door and front of the mod and the material its pretty solid in the hand. I've never felt I was about to drop it or that it'd slip from my grasp. The newer ones with the other logo, the old one was the word smokeless, which I can't remember are coated something like some eGo batteries were with a non slip finish. As far as drop survival, yes I doubt that the cheap plastic would hold up well. Then again there's a reason I paid $150 for my Reo Grand without atomizer and this thing is about $25 shipped with atomizer.

@bsoplinger - yep, the derringer is modified, but the chalice looks good! Thank you for the great descriptions and advice, I really appreciate it. Off to do some reading and learning. :)

Where do you get the needles, tubing, and bottles at?

I may try modifying a few attys. I have the drill press and everything to do it

No it doesn't.

Ok, thanks. I have a couple authentic Mephisto's this kit would work with.

Thanks for the links. Yeah, with an X Y cross slide vise and an end mill bit, you could cut that hole out in a box real easy.

That kit used as intended with the Mesphisto is kind of odd. I would never set up a atty like that, but free country and all :p

Not sure what you mean, me being a BF noob, but for 6 or 7 bucks and not having to risk screwing up an authentic rda that isn't made anymore is worth a try.

Not sure I fully understand how it works....
If it was a Positive post replacement that would make sense (to me) but this looks more involved / different (or maybe I am missing something)

Converting Hellboy RDA to Bottomfeed.

Very easy RDA to convert. This one was in white and was sent to me free, so here it goes.

Center punch 510 pin, drill slowly untill you feel it go through. Unscrew 510 pin. Take pair of pliers and pull out the center post. Center punch just below block of center post and cross drill. Press center post back in, screw 510 back to center post.

I wire wheeled the white off it in a hurry so the finish needs a little more work, but it is a very easy squonk atty. Doesn't take much of a press at all. Drains back perfect. Came out and works better than expected. Sorry for my shitty cell phone pics :(

He is taking that stainless tube and integrating into the center post of the atty. So you take off atty and that tube is sticking down 3" out of atty. It's stupid, Im just sorry. LOL. When you need to rebuild coils of that atty, you can't check it on a ohm meter cause of that tube sticking down out of atty 3" But free country and all. Im just sayin if you have to drill and grind to do it that way, you miswell just drill the 510 and not even fuck with that.

But that tube does work good for mod 510 to bottle.

Okay dumb question probably, but I want to be safe. The wire on my smokless owl came away ( the one that goes from the bottom of the battery to the 510 connection) it now looks to be a bit short. What wire can I use? I mean is it possible to use any of the wire I use for my coils :) I can insulate it myself as I have some very small tubing and I know how to solder so I got that part covered. Unless there is a place I can buy it? The wire is white. Thanks so much for your help. I'm sad I can't use my OWL.

Thanks, do you know what wire I should use? Google search does not turn up anything related. I probably am not putting in the right search string. I tried "what wire for 510 to battery" Nothing was very clear as far as what to use. Only how to solder etc etc

I've seen a few people where people have replaced all the wires in that mod. They went to 14ga solid. They thought the mod had 18ga from the factory, so either of those or 16 ga would be a upgrade. When I build a box I always use 14 ga solid but, 16 or 18 guage will work if you don't super sub ohm.

@debinnv I just reread where people have replaced that wire, the guys that used 14ga took off the insulation off the wire to fit in that channel, some used smaller wire and left insulation on. They report that wire that was on from factory was 1.5mm, and they replaced with 2.5 mm.

Either type. If you are going to build low, use Samsung 25R's

I'm running mine at 0.3Ohms with a 25R and it works well.

I have been running my Owl at .4Ω for a few weeks - no problems, but for ~$25 I guess some TLC should be expected, if you open the top side I am curious what is under the hood.... pictures please ;) should be able to buy wire at Home Depot, Lowes, or Ace (in the US)

**Edit**
I said OWL - I meant the Terminator (correct the OWL was the RDA) - at least I think that is correct LOL

That's the atomizer that comes with the VMod, bottom fed cartomizer/atomizer, it has a cone cover that holds the mod body to the shell.
I only used it on the small VMod, the VMod XL has a modded Squid on it. I don't really use either mod anymore since going sub-ohm, I collaped the spring in the XL and never went to repair it as I have many better option now.

I found a new pretty mod - http://focalecig.com/Product/Cherry-Bomber-StyleBottom-Feeder-18650-ModWhite-28170
Cherry Bomber modified for bottom feed!!!!! ~$28
(waiting on a silver version, how does that positive connection work?)
Saw that and the Hobo bottom feed atty's they have listed, might have to pickup a Hobo. Like the design of the Cherry bomber sans logo, I'd have to sand that thing down to get rid of it. I too would wait for the silver, or sand the crap out of the colored ones.

I swear it is because I ordered a Drill Press LOL
Are you volunteering to drill out the center post of the 510 connector for all of us who don't have drill presses? ;)

Looks like a nice candidate to mod to a BF. If only stainless steel wasn't so difficult to work with.

It looks like a Bottom Feed pin is included (in the 6th / last picture) - very similar to the Hobo v3 I just bought (not received yet)

That could be dangerous - how much do you want to trust a novice drill press operator with a new toy?

Ah, I didn't see a hole through that in the pic and the description didn't say anything unlike the Hobo where it was listed. Since I was thinking about perhaps getting the Hobo I'll just add that in too. Figure for $10 it doesn't hurt to try.
