Good RDA/RBA for flavor?

So I've really been wanting to get a dripper, but with so many options I don't know where to start. I'm looking for more flavor over clouds, but I do like chucking clouds so a bit of both would be great.
I know of the basic stuff to get like ohm meter, cotton, wire and various tools needed.
Since this is my first time doing this I would prefer not to break the bank on this one seeing as how I want to try it out before jumping in further - so clones are fine with me.
I've been looking around for a while now but haven't really found something for me.
I've heard Plume Veil is good flavor, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks in advance for the help.

My Plume Veil and Vertex clones are great for both flavor and clouds, with the flavor edge going to the PV. The Vertex has better air flow and is an overall smoother hit, and produces slightly heavier clouds, but both are a great middle ground.

The Aeolus is an excellent flavor RDA with real good airflow. You can do either single or dual coil builds. In addition, it is leak proof, due to it's airflow coming in from the top. The airflow can be regulated as well. I have a clone of it. However, it's as good as the original. Another good flavor RDA is the Tugboat V2. However, it's a dual coil only RDA.

If you are looking for a good RBA/RTA, try the Lemo II.
I just got mine and I love it. Great flavor and vapor and easy to build and fill.

I have 6 RDA's total now. The 2 best in flavor are my authentic Freakshow Mini and Mad Hatter. They both have air inlet ducts from the bottom of the atty that come up from beneath the coils, letting airflow go over 100% of the coil surface. The hatter is taller and has a cooler hit, which I prefer, but both are great.

My authentic Lancia is a close 3rd, using the same style of bottom venting, it is just my newest and I have not unlocked the right build for it and me yet. In time I see it joining the other 2 while looking better doing it.

4th would be my authentic Plume Veil 2.0 #143, it is a wonderful balance of flavor and clouds. The ability to fine tune my airflow is phenomenal. It is just a hair behind the Lancia in flavor, but makes the densest vape of all of that I own.

5th is a Doge clone. For a cloud atty it gives decent flavor. On my Sigelei 150w it is a fog machine with a .12 build for when the mood serves me. Not often as I prefer flavor chasing. But when I am stressed, a huge pull off of this keeps me from buying a pack of smokes.

6th is an Infinite Plume Veil 1.5 clone. I had high hopes for this as I have used a friends and it is great. I think mine is just a dud...

For flavor in an RDA you want an atty with bottom air ducts, they really do make a difference.

I have a few RDAs and my best for flavor is the new Alliance by Fogwind. It is a bit higher in price ($45.00) but for me it is worth the extra money. It comes with 3 center rings with different size holes. The smaller hole is best for flavor and the larger is for clouds. The third ring is between the size of the other 2 and gives a good flavor and decent cloud. I had watched a video by the designer, however, I cannot find it again to save my soul. Prior to buying the Alliance, I would have rated the Freakshow and Freakshow Mini as my top flavor RDAs. After I built the coils for the Alliance, 8 wraps of 26ga Kanthal on a 3mm post for .6 ohms, I was totally amazed at the flavor. I have it on my LE80 at 4 volts. Delicious! I have Vanilla Dream from Code 3 Vapor and Love It!

I, too, have been on a quest for the most flavorful dripper/tank and can tell you some of the ones out there that you probably want to try. The "big three" in this day and age are the veritas, the magma, and the plume veil. those are the ones who if you search the internets you'll find repeated most often in terms of flavor. however, recently, there has been a wave of new atomizers and, honestly, these have been exceeded by a handful of new ones: the marquis, the lancia, the vertex v2, the origen v3, the velocity, and most recently, the aeolus and the venturi. if i were you, i would google all of these and take a look at how they're built and decide what seems interesting to you. so far ive only mentioned drippers, though. tanks can have great flavor too, because they stay fully wicked and usually have a very condensed chamber. some tanks known for flavor are the kayfun, the orchid, the aqua, the squape, and the taifun gt II. these are going to be less obvious as to how they might taste. i have tried the kayfun and the orchid and much prefer the orchid. good luck

I don't necessarily think that's true. There are a lot of factors that go into engineering a flavorful atty, but there are many that many consider very flavorful that have airflow from the side, even from the top. Alot of people talk about reduced chamber, a conical top, and it's true that you can find alot of attys out there that have those characteristics that are very good for flavor but then there's an equal amount that are just as good that don't have those characteristics. Take the Vertex, it's a pretty run of the mill looking atty and yet somehow it produces really great flavor. There's alot going on inside on such a small scale that it's really difficult to pinpoint exactly what's contributing to the flavor.

I did forget the reduced chamber and conical top aspects. Thank you for reminding me. My freak mini has the bottom ducts plus reduced chamber. For people that like a warmer vape out of the ones "I own" that would probably be their favorite. I prefer and get more flavor from a cooler vape so I prefer my mad hatter, which with it's taller chimney suits me.

What I posted is not the end all be all. Just one mans opinion based on the gear that I own.

Coils do a lot too. Some builds cater more towards flavor than others, using a constant of the same atty to build on.

Yes, the temperature is a factor, absolutely. And coils make a difference. I find that thicker gauge produces a cooler vape in general. I like to build my coils around a 1/4in long with a big diameter so i find 26 and 28g to be best for the temperature i want most of the time.

Oh wow thanks for all the responses everyone! There's a lot on here for me to take in and look up. I've looked up a few and the Aeolus interested me out of all of them. Hopefully with payday coming I'll get that and the supplies I need to get me started.

My Mutation X V4 with the bottom air holes full open and the top coil air holes close off gives great flavor. My co workers plume veil is pretry good as well. Hell even my drilled out Patriot gives pretty good flavor. You will be happy with any of the drippers listed on here so take your pic.

I havent used many drippers. Have owned 7 different ones, half of which were pretty dissapointing. The best all round and definately best for flavour for me would be a surprise to many. Innokin Exthermal. A guy on a popular UK facebook forum raved about it and he is part of a couple of people that do youtube juice reviews. Outside of that forum I never see this dripper mentioned, maybe as its ugly, Innokin or just not known about. But a lot of people on that forum have bought one (I have two!), and every single person that has done so seems very happy to have done so. Cheap, easy to build on and maintain, seems to perform very well on both low and high wattage builds, VERY deep juice well and decent vapour but most importantly it has improved the flavour of 90% of the juices I have tried on it in comparison to the other drippers I still use (dark horse and derringer) by up to 25% on some! Mod/tank/dripper wise etc etc this is the one and only product I have to recommend as from my limited experience it is the one product far superior to any others I have tried in the same category.

Derringer on a temp control mod. Best flavor I've had to date. Every bottom airflow I've had leaked, I tend to over drip, I don't like taking off the top cap to drip so maybe that's my cause.

i just ordered the eh pro revel rdta, a dripper that you push the drip tip to feed, the holding tank holds 3mm i believe. it beats stopping to put juice in every couple of mins.i hope it is here by the weekend !

I had the wotofo cloud tank/dripper and I wouldnt recommend that. Air holes in the corners of the deck which made no sense...if you put little wick in it would leak all the time, if you put a lot of wick in there was no airflow at all due to the positioning, got hot and the actual tank must only have held 2.5ml odd of juice meaning it needed refilling after about half an hour anyway (and refilling being a nightmare with it). So as a tank it was very average, as a dripper it was abysmal. Shame as the principal a very good idea, the design of this one was truly awful though, hope they have improved since this one.

Over dripping on bottom airflows causing leakage is certainly an issue. I hate taking the cap off too, though love my Mad Hatter because I just flip the cap open and closed. I tend to use it more far more than my others.

Another great thing with the Exthermal, you can just take off the top half of it very simply rather than an awkward fiddly cap, leaving a great big well to drip into, and flavour wise its a wishing well for sure. Anyone in the UK you can order these online delivered for about £13.00 if you look hard enough and use discount codes, well worth a try and then you can thank me later....I accept donations :)

derringer is great it has about a 4mm drip well which is awesome i can get a lot of hits before i have to drip the post holes are decent i have dual claptons 30 on 25 and they fit in just fine. 0.4 ohm i vape it at 4v 40w without the afc ring (the claptons get the cap too hot with the afc on) i get huge clouds and great flavor vaping 100vg white label mango custard and charlie noble 77vg custard.

I've been using my Lemo 2 as my while driving tank for a little over a week now. With the help of @UncleRJ I found a wicking solution that works very well.

To me it still falls short of a dual coil flavor build on a flavor oriented RDA, but for the safety of not dripping while driving, it is my favorite tank out of the 6 tanks I own.

My tanks in order of my liking (as of this post, I don't have a Triton yet):

1) Lemo 2
2) Atlantis V2 with project subohm rba
3) Atlantis
4) Nautilus with AFC removed and air holes drilled to 1/16"
5) Nautilus Mini with AFC removed
6) Nautilus Mini (retired)

The only thing I do different from what you guided me to is I use cellucotton instead of Japanese. I have lots of both, but have found the cellucotton to wick faster. At the rate I tend to chain vape while driving, it does a better job of keeping up.

I have the Aeolus and the Magma, both clones. The Magma has a little better flavor of the two, the Aeolus is good and seems to have a smoother, quieter draw. The Magma will leak if over filled the Aeolus won't. Good luck... you'll probable end up with more than one.

I prefer single coil coil builds and my favorite is the Vicious Ant Cyclone AFC. Much better than my Freakshow Mini. If I was buying for duals I would get a Derringer or Madhatter over the Freakshow because it leaks like crazy and it's harder to build on.

Well worth it, it's rapidly become my goto, easy to build, seems to happily accept anything as far as builds, and it's rather neat looking with the little heat sync from FT under it :)

I think it looks butt ugly, like a spaceship from the 1940s (if there were such a thing) :) But yes, easy to build on, seems to perform well from low to high wattage builds as well. And the well is especially deep isnt it :)

I would only have two very minor nags. When you first use it, it is very stiff in terms off pulling the top off rather than the whole well, but this settles down after a while. I also, til I got used to them, found the big screws a bit of a pain to tighten. The person on the UK Facebook group I mentioned who was the first to rave about these swapped them out with the grub screws from his derringer. Welcome to the exthermal appreciation society Tansi, you now appear to be a fully paid up member :)
