Got the Exthermal yesterday. Aside from the size and weight and looking like Sputnik the build quality is nice. I can't say I'm a fan of the airflow system with all four slots being equally open at all times. I have to agree with Todd's review on that. I've played with a bunch of different builds on it and finally settled on stuffing some extra cotton along side of the negative posts to restrict the air slots there.

Hasn't been a big issue for me, a good quick trick though is take a razor or hobby knife and carefully cut slots into a vape band only where you wish airflow. leave the areas you wish blocked solid ^^

Well I guess. Or I could just stuff some extra cotton while I'm in there wicking anyway and not have to put a vape band on my rocket.:)
For some reason having those side slots open set off my coughing reflex. Regardless of how open or closed the airflow was. With everything from a 1.8 ohm single to dual 24 gauge at .3 and a load of them in between. As soon as I concentrated the airflow on the coils only, smoothed right out and became a far more pleasant vape. Shrug.

Thats some clouds for a 50/50 @ 40w! I only do simple builds, pretty similar to yours usually between 0.3-0.4ohms. I have found the sweet spot is usually between 45-55watts (well 48-52w being precise)....but I am 90% of the time now vaping DIY recipes, mostly from here and 70-85VG. By the way in the UK Nobles is probably about the only reasonably priced American juice, I used to love Commodore Peary :)

I havent used many drippers. Have owned 7 different ones, half of which were pretty dissapointing. The best all round and definately best for flavour for me would be a surprise to many. Innokin Exthermal. A guy on a popular UK facebook forum raved about it and he is part of a couple of people that do youtube juice reviews. Outside of that forum I never see this dripper mentioned, maybe as its ugly, Innokin or just not known about. But a lot of people on that forum have bought one (I have two!), and every single person that has done so seems very happy to have done so. Cheap, easy to build on and maintain, seems to perform very well on both low and high wattage builds, VERY deep juice well and decent vapour but most importantly it has improved the flavour of 90% of the juices I have tried on it in comparison to the other drippers I still use (dark horse and derringer) by up to 25% on some! Mod/tank/dripper wise etc etc this is the one and only product I have to recommend as from my limited experience it is the one product far superior to any others I have tried in the same category.
That thing sure is ugly you are right about that! Looking at the way it is designed I bet you get excellent flavor though. I have a similar clone and it's amazing flavor! It's not the same externally but it is ugly none the less! Lol

I think it is amazing flavour. For example I mixed a recipe from on here and vaped it in the exthermal and it was a top vape. When I re-wicked some drippers I moved the same juice into the derringer and it went from a top vape to a dissappointing one, that has happened with me with vendors juices as well. Its simply a must have dripper for sub ohm flavour chasers and for pretty much the price of 10 pounds or dollars for the UK/USA DELIVERED it must be one of the cheapest authentic drippers to buy online, no brainer

Ok, my curiosity is wide open now. Since I use an unreg. triple parallel mech box, do you guys think this rda would work very well on it? I make my own flavors, and tend to make them flavor heavy, since I'm a flavor junkie. Yeah it's an odd looking contraption, but if it works and gives me the flavor I'd want, then I'll get my credit card out....lol..Thanks in advance for any input or suggestions guys....:)

Im biased of course saying its a great rda. I say buy it NOW! Main reason being Innokin are no longer making them so take the plunge while you still can. Another I have just started using is the fishbone, not quite the same level of flavour for me but very good flavour none the less and it really chucks.

By far, the best flavor I've had to date is in the Freakshow I just got today. The coil is a 26g/30g Clapton staged with 24g - all kanthal. Wrapped at 2mm and reads 0.23Ω. I gotta say, this Freakshow is quite impressive, and with this coil (at 95 watts), it's really sucking down the juice! I also just got a Tobeco Super Tank RDA that I need to try.

The Nixon RDA is by far the best I have had so far. Comes stock with a additional chuff cap. Running a dual 24 gauge kanthal at .23 the flavor is great! Great rda for less than 40 dollars

So many great RDA's. My fav's...Velocity, Tugboat, Derringer and Magma. I seem to find myself going for the Velocity a lot lately. Never hurts to have more than one..

I use my original VHO Haze Dripper Tank (on mech box) and Tobeco Velocity Mini (on regulated box mod) the most. I have a clone Tugboat V2 mod and RDA matched set on the way and can't wait to play with it.

There is now a Tobeco clone of the HAZE DT and it looks spot on. I wouldn't buy a generic of this as it's more complex than your average RDA.

Velocity clone. Cheap, great flavor and easy to build. Mine came with the wrong size Allen key so check if you get one.

Wow - I've been thinking about picking up a Kennedy... I guess now I will. What's the flavor difference? Same build in both atties?

juice- Captain Oliver's, Tradewinds 3mg. "Rich Vanilla pudding with a swirl of refreshing Crème de Menthe liqueur. Absolutely decadent."

all three primary flavour notes come through with the Kenndy. creamy vanilla/sweet/mint (in that order)
with the Velecity (even after adjusting air flow), it was like.... flat. no character. no dimension.

Kennedy- Dual Clapton,26gN80/32gA1, 5wr/3mm, .35ohm
Velocity- Dual Fused Clapton, 2*26gn80/34gA1, 7wr/3mm, .32ohm

i have a set of 2*26/34's ready to go. i might just drop them in to the Kennedy for a true side by side comparison.

note: you all have to remember that i'm a total noob, and might not have a clue what i'm talking about, lol.

So, just a suggestion: use the same build when comparing atties and juices. Different builds make a HUGE difference in flavor. Also the mod. 7.6 volts on my Noisy Cricket will give a different vape than 7.6 volts on my RX200, for instance.

i'll tear the coils out of the Kennedy (clone), and put in the fused coils and give it a go.

i didn't have enough wire twisted for 7 wraps

i won't be able to do a side by side comparison :(

i got 5 wraps/3mm at 1.7 ohms, and the flavour is amazing :p

the Kennedy wins hands down for flavour over the Velocity by a long shot.

Hi there,
In the RTA category i can recommend the non other than the Geekvape Griffin.
superb amount of vapor and as for the flavor it is best with claptons thats for sure.
i built mine with dual SS 304 claptons.
26 AWG core and 32 AWG wrap @ 2.5mm 4-5 wraps will do the job with rayon wick.
juice ratio is 30PG / 70VG
great flavor at 245C (~470F) on DNA 200.
keep on vaping! :)

To me I love the twisted messes black and gold for flavor! I like the tidal coil in it! I use 28 gauge with 6 wraps around a 2.4mm. Best flavor and great clouds! Also another for flavor is the forge.

That's the next thing on my "Gotta Have It" list.

I love the twisted messes black and gold for flavor!
I love mine, too! Got a 0.5Ω dual coil build (2x28/40 fused Clapton) in it right now for the Noisy Cricket.

I absolutely love the twisted messes black and gold version! Dude you gotta try the tidal coil! I've tried tons of different coils and I mean tons of complex coils but to me hands down ain't nothing better than the tidal coil. Superb mix of flavor and clouds! The ribbon kanthal brings those notes of flavor that you can't get out of regular coils. Reverse twisting of the twisted kanthal let's the juice seep into the center of the wire so its more surface area. That build in my twisted messes is unbelievable! I use 28 gauge kanthal and .8mm ribbon kanthal with 6 wraps with a 2.4mm Id. Comes out at .35 ohms. I've tried other size kanthal and it just works better for flavor and clouds with 28 gauge. Hope you try it!

I saw a few of your posts and you mentioned "my 100%vg vanilla custard from the UK" ejuice. Might I ask the brand? I get a few of them from the UL too. I am a Vanilla Custard Obsessed Freak that has tried so may versions that I am no longer posting how many I have tried because I think it looks too cocky or like I think of myself as the authority on them. I can only be the authority on what I like so I am starting to just say the obsessed VC freak part leaving the number out. I am however always willing to try a new brand or series when I see someone that has found one they really like and from what I saw in your posts it seems you have found your favorite or one of your favorites. My favorite that has not been matched or beaten on my personal favorites is from the UK as well. I am one of the few that can message with a request for an order and he will fill it any time as he knows of my absolute unbreakable commitment of calling it my absolute favorite and he is a good guy. That being said I do like to use other vc's as I like different versions that are unique and they also provide contrast to my favorite that allows me to avoid flavor burnout. So can or would you please consider sharing your favorite UK 100%VG Vanilla Custard? If anyone else reads this post and wants to make a suggestion for a good VC please feel free and let me say thank you in advance.

I prefer single coil coil builds and my favorite is the Vicious Ant Cyclone AFC. Much better than my Freakshow Mini. If I was buying for duals I would get a Derringer or Madhatter over the Freakshow because it leaks like crazy and it's harder to build on.

I have to agree on the Cyclone for a single coil rda. Mine are not AFC, but they still have superb flavor.

Id say any single coil small chamber rda is flavor based. I get the best flavor off of my narda, the flave (alliancetech), and pulse 22. Single coil rda with side/direct airflow holes blowing directly on and/or under the coilreally bring out the flavor. The flave, the narda and the pulse 22 are all flavor bombs. The pulse 22 will give big clouds too, the flave has great flavor but smaller clouds and the narda is more of a tight airflow (mtl) atty but in my opinion gives about the best flavor you could ask for. Not a cloud chucker by any means but certainly can cloud up aroom pretty good with the right coil and those longgg tight draws :) Hadaly and lil origen are also nice flavor attys to not overlook. A really nice cloud chucker with great flavor is the recoil by grimmgreen and x ohm boy, impossible to overdrip too with those angled airflow holes..same with the pulse 22/24..impossible to over drip/squonk. And the air flow shooting downwards (recoil and pulse) really helps keep spitback to a minimum
