I picked up some 22 gauge kanthal. Wondering whats a good dual coil build. Was thinking bout 8 wraps 3 mm, would that be good or to big/slow ramp up. Looking for clouds, I have a sigelei 150 with samsung 25 R battteries, and a Troll RDA.

I run 22g at 8/9 wraps 2.5mm inside diameter in a Kennedy comp on am sxmini at 68w, comes to exactly 0.2 ohms, great build for that atty like @notsure said it a juice guzzler but a great vape.

I do 7 wraps with 3 mm - a bit slow on the ramp up at 60 watts but a good vape and plenty of room to stuff wicking through 3 mm - juice guzzler for sure, though. I drip 15 drops every half-dozen tokes...deep drip wells help.

I've been using dual 22g 7 wrap 3mm in my troll/sig150. Wondering would more wraps be better,or less , like 8 wraps 3 mm would give better cloud? Its a big coil though is that to big? 70-80 watts good for that build?

Been using 22 g 7 wrap 3 mm on my troll and sigelei 150. Curious if say 6 wraps 3 mm would give more cloud since its lower resistance, or 8 wrap 3 mm more surface area.. i find i like 3 mm ID over 2.4 or 2.5, feels like a better vape & more vapor.

I like more wraps for more surface area and better vapor on a Sig box (only run mine around 55-65 watts). If it were a mech I'd care about low resistance, but with regulated I can just crank up the power and resistance is a moot point unless you're building to go well over 100 watts...

Also I like 3 mm ID because I'm lazy and it's easier to wick, not to mention easier to push resistance up to an acceptable level when using a wire as thick as 22g...

Ok maybe ill try 8 wraps 3 mm see how that works, most likely wont be a difference though. I prefer 3 mm also because its easier to wick, it wicks better to at sub ohm high wattage with max vg. It also just looks better lol.

I love dual 22's in my troll.

6 or 7 wraps on a 3/32 is great. Comes out to .16 and .18(respectively) for me. It's pretty snappy for a 22g build. I usually like to make it just barely a macro to get enough wick in there that it's not constantly thirsty for juice, because it goes through juice like crazy, but I also don't want it too wide because it still has SOME ramp up to it.

A micro (1/16th) 22 at 8-10 wraps isn't too bad, either. 8 is at about .17 while 10 is .2, IIRC. There's definitely some ramp up on the .2, though it's not really noticeable in practice. You only see it when you fire it without hitting it. The only problem I have doing micros with this wire is the fact that it tends to sort of wear-down cotton. Heats up a tad quicker, but you have to re-wick frequently. And when you pull it out, the cotton falls apart. I haven't done a micro 22 in months.

I'm running these builds on a mech. The first build I did with 22g was 9 wraps on a 3/32. At .22, It was not quite there. The ramp-up was just too slow. Might not be the case on a high-powered box, though.

With 20 & 22g builds you almost have to have a 28mm tank cuz when you build a .1Ω with 20 or 22g, The 18650 mod size RDA's get so darn hot after a few puffs when you have coils with that much surface space and that diameter of wire.. I built a few 20g dual vertical sleepers and they suck the juice and get hot so be forewarned. lol.

Thank's guys. I tried a new build, 22g 8 wrap 3 mm. Took it out right away though, it wasnt giving much cloud and wasnt to happy with it. I think 7 wrap 3 mm gave more cloud. I think i might try 2.5 mm tonight. Ill try 8 wraps on 2.5mm. I thought i liked 3 mm better then 2.5, but ill try 2.5 again. I think if i use 3mm i need less wraps say 6 or 7, and 2.5 i can do 8. Im just trying to find a good build to get most clouds. With my troll i think all 3 slots ruins it, 2 open seems good. I use my sigelei 150 & troll around 70-75 watts. I've been using cotton bacon v2 also have koh gen do. And max vg >80 no pg added other then whats in flavor.

please make sure that you use an ohm meter so you can know the ohms of your builds as well as if you have a short or not before putting your RDA on your mod, especially if its a mech but I remember you got a Sigelei.. Vaper's toolbox is a great free app you can get for your smartphone that is a great coil building tool.

I am using a 7 wrap duel on a mutation v3 RDA. with 22 kanthal. using my screw driver that came with the kit. it is a perfect 0.03 ohm. using 100 percent cotton wick through the coils and tucked under. using my eleaf 50 with 40.00 w 2.8 volt. great cloud and great taste. 3ml juice.Good Luck

Well, if that's what works for you, then go for it. I tried all sorts of builds with one or two closed off. I did some singles that way, too. Never could find one I liked... ...not more than builds I had in other atties, anyway. I had a much easier time when I started building specifically for the wide-open airflow. That was a major turning point for me. I hated the troll right up until that moment. It's just a bit different... ...one of the more spacious atties and really just too much airflow at the max with not much in between. I think the way the holes are setup makes the airflow weird to me when I tried to close it off. It's hard to explain.

Yea i like my troll but i also think it has to much airflow. I tried 8 wraps 2.5 mm. Its ok but i feel like 2.5mm ID is to thin it feels like its not keeping up to wicking, wicks are still bit wet & it verging on dry hit. I still havent fully figured out wicking, its somthing thats hard to explain i understand. But i've been making it pretty tight in coil, still able to be pulled back & forth through it to "bed" it in. Should i be able to pull back n forth without my sig150 tipping, or should i have to hold it still but still able to move. I think that may help me. Wicking is harder & just as important as build

Yeah, that was my biggest problem with 22g micros. I could have as little cotton in there as I could manage while still having full contact and it wouldn't matter. I'd start getting dry hits when I was seeing wet wicks with a puddle of juice on the deck. I'd pull them out and the cotton in the coil would be bone-dry.

That's why I go 3/32, which is comparable to 3mm... ...just a tad smaller. I usually keep the cotton pretty slack. The key is to keep it as fluffy as possible. That way the cotton will expand into it and become "just snug." And if you're centering the coils, make the longer leg your bottom one and tuck the wick over it. That leg gets pretty hot if it's fully-exposed. Hot enough to burn residual juice, for sure. I also keep the wicks fairly short... ...just barely touching the deck. I run 3/32, .16 duals at 100w like this all day and never get dry hits.

I think coil width can cause wicking problems, too. I've noticed that if I make the coils 8 wraps wide, I tend to have problems with dry hits. I think the outer wraps pull all of the juice up before it can reach the center.

I've also learned not to be afraid to let the coils be right up against the air holes in the troll. They need to breath to wick in that thing.

I have been messing around with 22 ga recently and have noticed that between 5-7x3mm wraps seems to work the best, at least for me. I goofed around today and made a 10 wrapx4mm. Resistance is about .33 ohm and while it is slow on the ramp up the flavor is actually pretty decent. Added bonus it holds juice pretty well and flavor is smooth. Hope this helps!

I prefer 22ga wire. I've tried loads and stuck with 22ga. I usually do 7 wraps which produces a balanced flavour and clouds mix. I've even done 12 wraps on my Kennedy 25 2 post which produced a very smooth vape. Whatever build you do with 22ga , the juice just keeps depleting. That's the compromise you make.

I always found 22G to be a bit too beefy, in that it has a long ramp up, and also because of how thick it is it takes a very long time to cool- vapour will still be made for a fair bit after your hit. You can take a big hit, exhale, then without even firing take another hit as the coils are still so hot.

I found for those types of builds, higher gauge wire in parallel works a lot better. It heats faster at the same resistance, you can get the same surface area for the same dense clouds, and also it cools down fast too, so you won't be wasting a lot of juice waiting for the coils to cool down.

It is good though for when you are learning and want something quick that really chucks.

21 gauge 317L ss, 11 wrap, 4mm dual on my combo @0.16ohm.... I'm glad I've got a lot of juice
