Ever wanted to rebuild your Atlantis coils instead of tossing them and buying new ones? Here's how I rebuild mine. Turns out they are quite easy to do and work great. I have been building my own for a long time and I've been asked how its done by several people so I made a half assed "how-to".. If you've built an RDA before , that'll make this an easy task to accomplish.

first, yank the old one apart. Pull out the metal stopper on the bottom and the white O ring. Be careful not to damage the little white O ring because you'll be reusing it, This is what separates the positive and negative leads of your coil. Be sure to get out all of the old, cruddy cotton and kanthal.

I'm gonna make a twisted 26g so, Here we go. If you want to wrap a regular coil that's fine, skip these steps of twisting the wire before you wrap your coil..

Here's the end result. Just keep twisting till the end breaks, if you wanna make a regular coil skip this part.

A 7/64 drill bit is the size of the stock hole. I decided to drill one out to 5/32. it didn't make that much of a difference.

wrap your coil and stick it in the Atlantis coil housing. Make sure the coil does not touch the sides. then slide the drill bit back through like this to hold the coil in place while you put the white O ring and metal plug back in.

now put your the rubber O ring and butt plug back on. one lead from your coil goes through the middle of the white ring and one goes on the outside. Pull them snug and then pop the steel plug back in. Have a look at the coil and make sure it looks the way you want it. Then snip off the excess wire and screw it back into the base. Make sure you use an Ohm meter to test for shorts and achieve your desired ohms. When you put the cotton in, this will help the coil from moving, touching the housing and shorting, you want the cotton snug but not super tight. Too tight and it wont wick properly.

Slide some cotton through, snip off the extra ,wet it with some juice and your good to go. Now all you need to do is yank out the old cotton once a week or so and do a dry burn and your rebuilt coil will be like new. Enjoy.

How exactly do I achieve a .5 ohm?

If you wanna make a twisted 26g like that one, you simply find the largest drill bit that you can fit through the Atlantis's coil housing holes. then wrap your coil about 5 times around that bit. I wasn't critical with it being EXACTLY .5 but as you can see I wrapped a .6

Ah ok! I'm very new at this and still have slot to learn. Where would I get the wire at?
I'm hoping to build my first box mod soon, they told me it's somewhat inexpensive which is what I am looking for. I quit smoking and started vaping not only for health but to save money too.

That's cool!, well, you can get A1 kanthal which is what I suggest to use a lot of places online ( including many of the sponsors on this site ) or at a brick and mortar vape shop near you, its not expansive at all.

I just got done rebuilding two Atlantis head, one with twisted 28 gauge and the other with a (not that greatly made) Clapton (28 gauge wrapped with 32)... the 28 gauge twisted came out alright and has decent vapor production, 5 wraps left me at .31 ohms. The Clapton build managed to allow me four wraps and sits at .65 ohms.

Clapton definitely wins, hands-down... Awesome flavor and amazing vapor production, I'm quite impressed for these being my first rebuilds.

Cool thread. I build all 5mm vertical coils in all my Atlantis style coils. Works very well and once you get used to doing an Atlantis style coil, every other coil is the very same but just a different size. Thanks for sharing. CHEERS!

Just adding if you want a game changer. Get some .4 5mm notch coils from fasTtech. Install vertical. Start cotton then bend over negative wire and continue wrapping cotton so negative is in the middle of the cotton. They are amazing with huge airflow up the middle of the coil.

Depends on the mod and tank... and it IS the 510 threads. Either the one one the mod or the atties.

If it's the attie you get a new one, (base or atty). If it's the mod, you fix it or replace the mod.

Are you just wicking through the coil or are you packing cotton around the outside as well?

I have done a couple of vertical builds in the old atomizers and they worked fine....think I will have to try this method now
