Max VG juice

I never before in my life have DIYd but I want to start. I usually vape high to max VG juice and have a question today. How do I make max vg juice? I would think it's just VG with desired amount of flavor concentrate but that seems too easy. Anyone mind helping a new guy? Also where's the cheapest place to get VG (I heard bull city vapors is good, but is it?) And do any major superstores (Walmart, walgreens, etc) carry vg so I can start right away?

You can make max VG by buying your nicotine (if you use it ) in a VG base, then adding your flavorings (depending on percentage that's your PG amount), then just filling the rest up with VG.

Use a juice calculator like ejuicemeup.

I buy my VG by the gallon from Essential Depot - cheapest I've found (and good). Yes, you can buy tiny bottles of VG from a drugstore, but it's not always good (shelf life), and it's an expensive way to go. I've also bought from Amazon Prime (fast). Bull City Vapor is also a good option (I think they sell Essential Depot).

Bullcity vapor is where i buy VG..give em a shot.

Most flavoring are in a PG solution...so whatever percentage flavor you like will take away from 100 percent VG..plus consider if you use nic whatever percentage of that but nic does come in VG solution as well

I'll assume you use an RDA? as max VG can be tough on most tanks and hard to wick properly.

You can use distilled water to thin out your VG if you cant get it to wick..usually around 10 percent works good...maybe slightly more if needed...i wouldnt go more than 15 percent..that really makes your vg like water..lol

You can buy nic in a vg base. Its all I use. I try to avoid as much pg as possible.

It has been my experience that if you use a VG based nicotine your very likely to have diacetyl in your nicotine. This is due to the nature of nicotine extraction and the self life of the vg. If this is something you wish to avoid, pg nicotine is your best option. I have found that most VG blends need to be watered down to at least 80% anyway, and if your using a low nicotine level, it actually makes it a better final product that you don't have to add water to in the end. Im sure many will disagree but going over 80% does little to non for the vapor production.

Wouldnt the same thing happen once the pgnic is mixed with vg to make the final product?

No because the yeast that is used to extract nicotine blends with vg as it ferments to make diacetyl. diacetyl forms slowly and you never know how old your nicotine has been sitting out for, a lot of companies now "die" their nicotine so it doesn't darken as it should to make you feel like you have a superior product. At the point that you mix down the pg nicotine into the vg it is so diluted at that point your risk is significantly less and much less diacetyl will form. We did lab test and almost every 50/50 that tested negative also tested positive in its high vg form. The only thing that was different was the VG Nicotine, this does have an impact on diacetyl levels, custards are not the only cause of diacetyl as it is a by-product of fermentation.

Can you point us to any scientific support for that? Is this happening with your own nicotine or what brand? And are there lab reports to support the claim?

Who are you saying adds "die" (dye) to prevent oxidation? I don't understand how that would be possible. Can you tell us more about that?

From a scientific viewpoint, it would seem logical that a "high" diacetyl liquid, when diluted by 50% (with PG), would measure 50% lower, not negative. If your "negative" mix is suddenly "high" after adding VG, it would seem you need to investigate the VG you are using!

I would also like to see the link to studies - this is new to me, but something we should all be aware of if there is evidence to support this claim!

I do my own research I don't have links, sorry if you don't believe me but I assure you its true. (Most of what I learned about diacetyl came from old brewing techniques, the alcohol industry is quite familiar with diketones) The way this works is in how nicotine is extracted. In the more crude methods they add a yeast to whatever they are extracting nicotine from (in an over simplified explanation). Then the crude nicotine is usually sent off to a lab to be filtered of the yeast and the impurities that arise in the crude nicotine. No filtering process is perfect, often times some yeast is still left over, and if they didn't send say some Chinese nicotine to be filtered in Switzerland or Germany then there is still high amount of yeast present. When nicotine is watered down in a vg base, the vg with the yeast hold all of the key elements to create diacetyl, as the vg ferments. Since diacetyl formation is slow, by leaving your nicotine in a base that will cauterize into diacetyl you in turn increase the total amount of diacetyl present. If it was stored in PG the yeast wouldn't have anything to turn into diacetyl and your total exposure of yeast to vg would be significantly reduced and thus the amount of diacetyl present would be lower.

I have done lab test to prove this, sorry I have no links or anything, finding research on diacetyl is very hard and I wouldn't be able to back track to where I found it mentioned that VG turns into diacetyl in the appropriate conditions.

The nicotine came from RTS (I now no longer use them) we ordered 15L of Nicotine, After 2-3 months at least 2 of the bottles were a completely different color.(one red one yellow) They were both 2-3 months old, both had been open, both exposed to air, both from the same batch, both made on the same day, both were the same color at one point. One was your normal redish color from aging, the other looked like it had not aged at all. Still yellow, but the weird part was it was a slightly darker yellow then usual (almost can't even tell). Now Im no expert, love science but thats about as far as that goes, but both liters of nicotine should have been red. Darkening of nicotine is very quick and no way a 2-3 month old batch thats been open should be bright yellow like i just opened it. I hit the company up and asked them about why the nicotine wasn't darkening. they said that they added something to the mix for "flavor enhancement purposes."

If it was the VG everything would have come back positive. We had some high vg blends that tested negative so that option is out the door.

How is this spamming? I asked for good flavor concentrates. (I'm assuming the link was to a flavor concentrate provider, if not I apologize!)

I wanted opinions on good sources for concentrates. Seeing as I'm on the Tapatalk app I can't view subforumns, only most recent posts, and posts I've participated in. Rather than sitting here mocking me, perhaps contribute to the convo? Nah that'd be the right thing to do, you can be tough behind a computer screen so might as well right?

Next time try "I don't know if you saw this already but check this out [link here]"

I think you feel dumb for not taking your own advice and reading through the entire post to see if someone did ask therefor you feel the need to redeem youself.

Have a good day.

i just sent an email off to vapors tek. they have someone her eon this forum who is usually forthright and knowledgeable. I am hoping they will review these claims and post here soon.

and to the OP

I use max vg all day long in my kanger subtank using stock coils with no issues

Just need to push a pin through the cotton when you first use it to open up the cotton. The coils last me 2-3 weeks with no issues at max vg

you remove my comment calling it spam wen on the top of the page is this.....
There are several options. Depending on where you live. Since I'm on the east coast, I prefer BCV. In addition, in order to get max VG, I prefer Flavour Art (FA), due to higher concentration you can use lower percentages, compared to other flavors available.

I'm figuring out "how to" diy...seems to fit to me. I know there's probably a better place for this thread, but I'm not searching for 20 mins to find the right area...if Tapatalk made it a bit easier then I'd have no problem.

I do not know the poster who is saying, if it is what they are saying that somehow VG when mixed with nicotine can cause a breakdown into diacetyl. I am sure there would be tons of literature out by now about that. Diacetyl is made during some alcohol fermenting processes but I do not know how it could possibly be made during nicotine processing since as far as I know yeast is not used in any way during any nicotine extraction method I am aware of. That usually uses a solvent or water extraction method.

I concur. I have never seen mention of yeast being used in nicotine extraction. I forget exactly where I read this but it was attributed to Lorillard and said basically that steam distillation under high pressure was the common means of commercial water extraction. I've also read about methods that used commerical solvents but none that included the use of yeast.

I recommend reading through the DIY section. You'll quickly discover portions are done in %. And no 2 recipes with utilize the same amount.

One 10ml batch may require .5mg, while another requires 2.5mg using 3 flavors.

I'm high vg. But I heard Nic and vg doesn't freeze. I'll be purchasing about 5 gallons. Do I buy vg or pg base and add the other vg or pg to equalize. I still need to buy concentrate. I'm running out of time here!!!

Here's how I've done mine, for my personal use. If you're high VG you'll have plenty of PG.
1 gallon of PG for 5 gallons of VG.
All my NIC is PG based @ 100mg/ml

I mixed a litre today at 80/20, and only used 60ml of PG. The NIC and flavoring added another 141ml PG

So you can see, your PG is going to go a very long way. Especially if you want your VG percentages to be higher than mine.

As far as the NIC goes. Buy whatever amount you prefer, keep it stored in the freezer. I buy in 1 litre bottles, then split it into smaller bottles, then drop it into the freezer. Always maintaining the 100mg/ml strength. This allows for a much higher VG % final product. I can get 85+% VG with this method if I desire.

I'd like to add. I've found 85% or higher VG to be very uncomfortable for my chest and lungs. So I limit myself to 80%.

It's a learning curve ;) Essential Depot is running a hell of a sale right now. Keep the PG, and order a 4gal case ($39) of VG :) Spend the extra money and go with Vapors Tek on the NIC.

I received an order from Essential Depot about a week ago. I was going through receipts and saw that they charged me $106.21 for shipping!!! It must have been in the wee hours of the morning that I put that order in. Why didn't I notice it then? Do they always charge that much?

It was (Yikes!) for 4x4 gallons of pg, 4x1 gallons of vg and $5 on safety goggles. Had I realized that I would have shopped elsewhere and paid attention to shipping. Holy cow! The 4 boxes were quite heavy though.
