Input: Tanks that really won't Leak.

Hey guys!

Did a search, couldn't find what I'm looking for.

I am looking at getting a tank, I have realized it would very much do me good with my current situation with driving to work, when I'm at work and school...

I have been looking at the Smok TFV4, and the Kanger Subtank..

But I want to make sure whatever tank I get will not leak.

Obviously there is a flood of the market now and whether you want a tank or an RDA there are almost too many options to look at all of them. In all the searching I've done, I've realized that most all of these tanks will state that they have a leak proof design. That's great, except once the end users get some hands on time they find out it isn't quite that..

So I would like to know if there's a tank you guys use that you know 100% (if not 100%, as close as you can get) to being leak proof.

I want to buy my first tank with the confidence that if this guy is sitting in my pocket for a few hours, my pocket won't turn into a wet sock.

Thank you guys for the input :)
Have a great day.

While some members have reported that their Kanger Subtanks Leak, mine never has.

And if you can wrap your own coils, I suggest the Lemo 2.

Thanks RJ.

I can wrap my own, definitely. Now the Lemo 2 is something I had looked at in the past, then decided I was going to wait on a tank.

I really liked what I saw with that tank, do you think it would stand up to the "pocket test" if you will?

My Kanger Subtank will leak once in a great while . My Russian 91% v2's leaked maybe a drop a week . Nothing can promise no leaks at all . But ,if built right ,and the o rings are not twisted
anything will leak less . However there are some tanks famous for leaking ! Look around find something you are comfortable with . Good luck !

Where do you think I park mine anyway?:D:p:D

I don't know! Some people strictly use tanks at home, or in the car where they can set it somewhere!

So the Lemo 2 is a great tank, and I'd like to get her. RTA only isn't a gripe. I'm down!

Thanks RJ :)

If leaking is your main concern then make sure the rta has juice flow control. All my rtas that I pocket have that feature. Juice can't leak if it can't get to the wicks. A good cheap one would be the ud goliath v2, others include the calix, tilemahos v1, v2, aqua v1,v2, the rose and even some of the sub tanks like the sauce code, fury tank and we'll anything that has external juice flow control. I don't like to open the addy up to a just jfc that it's self can be messy... Just get the goliath v2. You will be happy. For the price it's hard to beat.

BTW the goliath takes coil heads too that are super easy to rewick without even changing the wire. Just be careful taking our the cotton and installing new cotton....and it comes with 2 heads and one rba section. Very versatile.

None of my Subtank Nanos or Minis leak as long as I tighten them up properly. The Subtank Plus had an initial issue with leakage for me, but after replacing the rings I have not had an issue. The Lemo 2 has also been leak free for me. One thing to keep in mind is that thinner juice will be be more likely to leak than thicker....I'm sure you're already aware of that but just throwing it out there.

When you do decide on a tank and IF you have small leak issues, get some tank bands and place them around the seems. I haven't had to do this myself but I've read of many people doing this....especially when it is really hot out.

All of the tanks here mentioned are good, however sealing the wicks off from the rest of the tank is the only way to completely guarantee no juice will be leaked. My only complaint with most of the sub ohm labeled tanks such as the Atlantis, artic or Kanger is the rba deck doesn't have as much room as a true rta due to for the most part you are rebuilding a coil head, some don't like higher vg juice either and then usually rebuildable coil heads mostly have tiny lead screws which limits the size wire you can use. The Kanger rba head I believe is the biggest I've seen besides the Goliath and zephyr.

In the mid to high end rba/rta tanks, leaks can only caused by two things.
1. Bad/damaged orings,cracked or chipped glass or galled/poorly machined threads.(poor quality control)
2. Improper wicking. (User error)

Granted, there are some faulty tanks out there but 9 times out of 10 it comes down to improper wicking. The same can be said for dry hits.

Well, I still really have not decided on a tank. I thought the Lemo 2 sounded great... Now I'm thinking I want a tank that just works... Sort of like an iPhone.. I have RDA's. If i want to build, I will build on them..

Is there really a big difference as far as flavor goes between an RTA or a RBA?

My wishlist I guess is as follows:

  1. I want this device to value/produce flavor over clouds.
  2. I want to feel confident it won't leak if it's roaming around in my pocket all day.
  3. I want the option for replacement coils - whether or not the tank has an RTA deck as well is not going to break my decision. I think an RTA deck would be nice to have, because as soon as I get a tank I may indeed realize that I want to build my own coils...
  4. I do not want to break the bank with this tank. I'm buying an IPV 3 Li Friday, and if I can buy a tank Friday that's great... But not if it's going to leave my wallet significantly lighter.

I hope what I am looking for has come across clear, and I value everyone's input. If you think that RTA's have a much better flavor, then by all means let me know. Recommend an RTA only tank if you feel that's exactly what I would like. I just want something simple, with flavor over clouds, and confidence it won't leak in my pocket. :)

Wicking is going to make a huge diference in whether a tank leaks or not. If it is not wicked properly, it can leak, but when wicked properly, amny tanks do not leak.

One that I have found that hasn't leaked for me is the Horizon ARCTIC Tank. Good Vape and nice clouds. The only cons I have are personal ones but are: 1. bottom fill 2. Don't come in Black.

I've tried them all. Tobeco Super tanks are where it's at, I promise. Top fill, attractive, cheap, never leak, and produce a fantastic vape.
Thanks

What about the uWell Crown? I think I am going to bite the bullet and swipe one up. It would give me an excuse for the TC mode in my IPV 3 Li.

The only time my Kanger would leak and then just a few drops out of the bottom air vents was when the coil needed to be changed. When I noticed the few drops I would change the coil and problem solved

Very true leaking or dry hits in a tank without juice control 9/10 it's due to poor wicking. I guess that's why I harp on juice control so much. Good luck with the crown. I still believe the saucecode or furytank are some of the best subohm atlantis coil head taking tanks b/c of the j/c. Less worrying when using the rba deck about wicking. Do post your experience with the crown.

My subtank mini has not leaked on me in months. I had a couple minor leaks when I first bough it, but I think I was not tightening the coil enough.

I use VCT Pro for each of the reasons you listed. Really versatile and bulletproof. I have a Goliath 2 also (great tank) but it does not keep up with the VCT Pro in each of the categories you mentioned. I actually use the Goliath more often because I prefer the vape from the claptons I have installed, but if I am stepping out and need something that's easy to fill, leak proof, simple and reliable its the VCT for sure.

What makes the vct pro so different from the other sub tanks that I've listed. I mean I've Google'd the tank but always better to get a person's first hand thoughts vs a company's sales pitch. Im just curious on why you like it above others.

One word- coils. Yes its a simple tank, yes it has huge airflow, flavor is on point and it wicks 95% vg like no other...the drip tip sucks but who cares. I've used this thing upwards of 150 watts without issue, and as low as 35 for a stealthy flavorful vape. They're inexpensive and everyone I know who owns one says its the most underrated sub ohm clearo on the market. Part of the lack of popularity was that it came on the heels of the failed Xpro M80 box while everyone was bitching about Smok. Just my $0.02. BTW, if the Vapepocalypse occurred and I had to use one tank for the rest of my life, its gonna be a billow v1. Flavor off the charts but leaks condensation from the airflow adjustment screws. By far my favorite. (It'd be tough to give up the clouds from my aromamizer rdta though!)

I don't know. I use the Atlantis nickle coils. I actually recently decided I hate temp control. There's just nothing like a Supertank .5 kanthal coil.

Not for nothing, the flavor and huge build deck are what makes the billow a tank i always revert to when I have "builder's fatigue. That billow has saved me from frustrating vape days when nothing satisfies me.

I hated the billow as well. I tried so hard to like it and do different things to leak proof it but at my best it still wasn't ready to be in my pocket for a day. We just never developed a trusting relationship. Either dry hits or eventual leaks. I still have it and every accessory ever made for it sitting on my desk. :(

Just for shits and giggles try 14 spaced wraps of 28 gauge nickel on a 3mm rod. Cotton just folded under and tucked into the deck next to the air holes. 50 joules 475°… love that one!

Um.

Yea, thanks for the input guys :p

I think I'm going to give the uWell Crown a try. Seems to be a tank I can get behind, being my first RTA/RBA. It's funny, most people I talk to start from a tank and move to RDAs, I have never once owned a tank.. I am working backwards here, and it's crazy how much I don't know about the world of RTA/RBA's.

I'll hopefully enjoy the tank enough to look into getting others. It seems everyone has more than one, again I have zero. Lol.

I just ordered a Crown today myself. Not too many places have the tank (at least in black) and the RBA head both in stock. It took quite a bit of searching to hit paydirt. Don't worry about coiling on them. They're a bit trickier than an RDA but it's not all that different. Wicking can be tricky on some of them but the Crown looks very straight forward. When you get yours in please come back and let us know how you like it.

Thanks, I will. I have to write up a few reviews here, got an IPV 3 Li coming, hopefully Tuesday, but more than likely Wednesday. I have fresh batteries coming Tuesday for it, and some new juice coming from a company I haven't bought from in a while. I'll more than likely pick up the Crown next pay day, so two weeks. Please let me know how you like yours as well. :)

While some members have reported that their Kanger Subtanks Leak, mine never has.

And if you can wrap your own coils, I suggest the Lemo 2.

Is the Lemo 2 generally considered the tank to go with if you just want a rebuildable option? Think I want to get one of these new subtanks, but I only want something to build on, don't plan on getting back into purchasing packs of coils.

I think if you're just going to build (That's me) then it's best to get something designed for that. I have two Billow V2's (Black and SS) that are both rock solid. I keep looking at all the sub tanks and it always comes back to the fact that I know I'm only going to build (not going back to buying coils). The last tank I had that used heads was a Protank 2 and I liked it better once I started rebuilding the heads myself. So I figured it would be best to just get another RTA (hence the two Billow V2's lol). Just my 2c

Cheers,
Steve

I found both at Alluring Vapors. I just checked and they have the Stainless Crown and the RBA but are out of the Black. I'm glad I jumped on it. If you like the stainless tank I think a lot of places have it.

You're awesome - thanks!
