shelf life of vegetable glycerin?

I was wondering how you know when vegetable glycerin is past it's prime. I'm curious about DIY VG juice. I have some VG in my kitchen cabinet, but it's been there for years. I originally bought it for cake icing or something. The bottle is full. The glycerin is clear. Does it go cloudy or anything if it's bad? Or taste rancid? Just curious.

Glycerine lasts for years. Taste it. does it have a slightly sweet taste with no funky flavors?

Actually, yes it does have a sweet taste. Nothing rancid or anything, so I'd say it's good to go. On a whim, I picked up a few Loranns flavors, so I may give it a try. Would coconut and Bavarian cream combine well, in anyone's opinion? I picked out coconut, Bavarian cream, tutti frutti and peach. I'm not looking to go too complicated at first. I enjoy dessert type vapes, and fruity types. Not adding nicotine to start. I haven't ordered that, and this is really just an experimental starting point. I'm trying to find an alternative to wonderful, but expensive juice. I know i won't replicate it, but hopefully I can mix up something pleasant at least. LOL.

I see from another post and chart here, that I at least bought a few of the less objection Loranns flavors. Coconut, Bavarian Cream, and peach at least, sow up in the green, indicating they should be ok. If this starting point is a success, I do plan to branch out into some of the better flavor options.

peach i can tell you form experience will taste like peach hard tack candy - i hated it because i wanted it to taste like a piece of fruit.

so it depends on what you want. if you want candy taste, loranne sis excellent, but i believe there are cheaper options.

If you want fruit taste
Flavour art is the way to go

The coconut and Bavarian actually go quite well together. ;) ....Two of her flavors I actually still use on occasion.

What ratio do you use, Teresa? I mixed 9 MLS VG with .5 coconut and .5 Bavarian cream. It's kind of light. But it is very freshly mixed, too. Should I bump one or both flavors up a bit?

Let your taste buds be your guide. Bump them up to 1% each, that's the fun of DIY....

Lorann's are generally very light, start with at least 5% each.

Thanks. I will definitely bump up the Bavarian cream. It smells wonderful.

0.5 ml of flavor in a 10 ml mixture is actually 5% of the total liquid volume - so you're on the bottom end of where it seems LA flavors get used. Wish I could give some better advice, but I've never used any of them - in my CAP and TFA recipes, though, it's not uncommon for me to add flavoring into the high teens percentage-wise.

Agreed.....although I do have an extensive collection of high end flavorings, I also have hundreds that are not and require a higher percentage in a mix. I don't care, if it tastes good I'm vapin' it. Lol!
