authentic velocity: disappointing.....

my authentic velocity finally arrived today. I ordered directly from avid vaper so I know that it is real. after having two clones and loving them I thought I owed it to the creators to support their business. first off the deck and post holes were full of burrs. well not full, but there were several, about 5 or 6 in total. after taking care of those and giving it a quick wash I was just kind of admiring it....lol before I was ready to put a build in it. that's when I noticed the copper 510 pin. it was clearly out of center and dangerously close to one edge of the threaded negative portion of the 510. and looking at a side view one side almost comes flush with the negative. I thought maybe it was just not seated correctly so I loosened it and tightened it back up to no avail. I thought maybe the internal portion and the post just might be a little out of whack( which I still suspect is the issue) but I am not able to get the internal threads to budge and I don't want to damage anything. I have contacted avid and I hope to hear back from them soon and can get this resolved. While it is firing on a regulated device I'm a little weary to use it on a mech mod. Maybe I'm expecting a little too much or worrying for no reason but I am just not happy with the quality control for the price tag, especially considering my clones are basically flawless. has anyone had similar issues with this? or have any tips for removing the stainless portion of the positive post?

yea I know I tried to find one to fit in there from another rda but nothing would work. I did ask about that when I contacted them. I am wondering if maybe there is supposed to be something else in there that helps hold it all aligned properly.....

Yea that's what I meant. My velocity clones don't have insulators either. But they actually managed to get the pin centered and flat. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what avid had to say. Hopefully they get back to me quicker than aria about the awful phenotype _l o-rings....still waiting 3 weeks later. It would really be nice to get an authentic atty that was as good quality as the mass produced Chinese ones....smh

Haha, a good quality clone is better than an authentic in my eyes. Just bragging rights is the only reason to buy authentic

Was just looking at mine and from your camera angle you won't be able to see the insulator, while I agree it's not aligned if it was missing it would short. I'm sure they will take care of it as it seems to be abnormal for their products. I can tell you mine was 100% flawless when I received it, this seems to be odd. My center pin is easy to take out as I tested my bottom feeder pin when I got it, your insulator is the whole piece that the positive post sits on so it isn't missing. Do update the response you get from avid though.

they have been helpful so far they offered to send out another copper pin, but neither they or I really seemed convinced that was actually the problem. the communication is a little slow with their ticket system, but not terrible. must say they are making an effort to help me troubleshoot. I'm just afraid to do too much "investigating" I already scratched the copper part I don't want to mark it all up too bad and have them think I fucked with it, so I have just been very patiently waiting for their questions and suggestions until we get it sorted out..

Honestly it sounds like they might have hired a retarded monkey to do the assembling.
Shit sounds cross threaded.
This.

A new pin won't fix bad threads, unfortunately.

So I was actually able to Remove the post after all. It was just super tight. I had to use a t-handle screwdriver. There was nothing noticably wrong. I think the threads in the post were drilled in at a slight angle. Anyways, they asked that I send it back to them so they can figure it out and replace whatever needed. They were apologetic and assured me of their commitment to quality, which I do believe because this seems to be very out of the norm for them. So it's not the quick fix I was hoping for. But I am just glad they got back to me and are willing to take care of the problem.

That is the major positive of an authentic. If they screw up they will fix it! Glad it got sorted out for you.

Send it back and demand a refund or a real one that isn't a battery short waiting to happen. That build quality is just not acceptable, even for a cheap clone.
