Hi all, I have the TFV4, setup is currently using the single RBA(also have the dual rba but not gonna use it for now till i fix my issue) with .6 ohm kanthal build of 26ga. Im totally getting harsh vapes, and so i thought it should be the pre-built coil, recoiled and still gotten the same result, this time round i thought maybe it was the juice (3mg 70pg) and cotton, hence i swap both of them and yet the same result but when i transfer the juice to the subtank mini, it was completely smooth. i ran out of ideas trying to figure out what is wrong with it. any help/tips is greatly appreciated.

Harsh in what way?

Kinda hard to explain, not dryhit, wicking properly, just harsh like my throat after exhaling are like not smooth whereas the subtank was so smooth clean.

Your getting a lot more vapor of course with the smok, do you have a dry throat or might be getting sick?? Turn you wattage down and close the airflow off to duplicate the kanger and see what happens.....???

right did what same airflow as subtank still getting the harshness, lol im perfectly healthy as mentioned when i use the subtank it is very smooth. wattage was also the same because both are under the same ohm. :(

Yup, what bob said. You're getting a lot more vapor likely at a higher temperature. Your throat and mouth will dry out quick. Like he said dial back the wattage and see if that doesn't help.

Also if you're taking deeper hits, a single 26g kanthal wire will continue to heat up and eventually burn. I do not use single wire in any of my rigs anymore for that reason. I always twist stuff up. 28g Kanthal twisted will act similar to 26g but it'll be cooler and take longer to heat alleviating the issue I'm attempting to describe. So if it's that I'd give twisted a try (28g twisted should fit, 26g twisted is just slightly too big for the single RBA as it comes, but not for the dual RBA).

30w. i lowered it to 22w and the harshness went away, but well what is the point then tfv4 is made to be a monster cloud tank, argh.

Its a balance you will have to find, heat creates the vapor and if you want more then you need higher temps. You can make more vapor with less heat on your mouth by pulling the coil away from the airhole a few mm more. It will be hot vapor if you want more vapor....thats just how things work.

Are you talking about on the Xcube II mod? if so I believe "Max" just increases the wattage for the initial 2 seconds to cut down on ramp up time. I haven't really looked into it too much though.

Got a Billow v2, and compared to my sub-tank it will choke you with tons of vapor. Billow @ 30 watts vs subtank at 20 is like night and day.

Billow = dood!

Coming in a little late on this. I noticed you said your juice was 70%pg. I think that it might have to do with the high PG and the design of the tank. Maybe try a higher VG juice something like 40pg/60vg and see if that helps. Happy Vaping!

^^^^^THIS^^^ High PG is your problem. 70PG in that tank, I couldn't even imagine the throat hit your getting. Also the tfv4 coils take about half a tank for me to break in.

Pffft, okay well I guess you have it all figured out than. So yeah I don't see why if the "beast" of a subtank mini with coils barely able to push 40w, that the TFV4 with coils that vaporize in the 70-140w range wouldn't be just as smooth with 70PG. SMH. Also Umm, subtank .5 ohms. TFV4 .15ohms. Yup shouldn't make a difference....LMFAO

Uhhh, this is subohm bud. And I know it will make a difference and I tried to tell you that and you said that wasn't the case. If someone asking why something is happening can also say why it's not than I would say they have it figured out. P.S. Anything below 1.0 ohm is subohm. ergo you are pushing sub -ohm. GL

Ah ok I didnt know under 1.0 is subohm lol. damn been vaping for 4 years, lol. I always assume that below 0.1 ohm then it is subohm.

I've heard below 0.1 ohm called Super Sub ohm, lol
And like others have posted above, sub ohm always refers to a coil/build coming in below 1.0 ohm...simple really, lol

Super Sub Ohm is Below .1, Its not for everyone and should only be done by people who have a decent knowledge of Battery Safety and Ohms Law...and a Decent Parallel Box Mod or Regulated that can Fire it. It is hott when building that low and most do not enjoy it.
Here's some Super Sub Ohm Builds to give you an Idea of what you need to run that low...I doubt unless you use 18g or 20g (Kanthal) wire or a half wrap or straight wire that you would get that low...

70pg......ouch, i automatically read it wrong as most is 70vg....bring your mix back to 50/50 and see what happens but with that tank your throat might night like anything if it's used to pg dominant mixes.

If you must vape at 70pg I don't know that you will ever like the tank:(

I am as chill as can be....lol All of my mods, tanks,RDA's and juice are working flawlessly. No problems here, and if I did I could bring them to the community and 99% of the feedback I got I would listen to and it would probably work out to my advantage. :wink:wink: Your problem was addressed many posts ago, Myself and at least 3 others that own this tank and are familiar with it have told you "TOO HIGH OF PG" That tank is not a mini cooper, it is indeed a muscle car with alot of horsepower. Adjust accordingly, heed or don't heed the advice makes no difference.

I wish you all the luck and hope you succeed. if you need anything at all don't hesitate to shoot me a message. 1 suggestion: may I suggest even if you like PG to try @ 60/40 VG/PG and work from there.:)

I see it like a Jet's Thruster, blows through fuel and packs a ton of heat and vapor...The Crius I built yesterday actually goes through just as much juice as the TFV4's Quad coil around 100w....Beastly

Good to hear, I am debating getting the Crius, only thing stopping me is the crack happy ceramic piece. What say you Raymo, buy? No buy?

Do not buy the Authentic or it cracks and the Alloy is shit. Buy the Clone from FT...even though its cheaper its real 304 SS and the insulator seems like its peek or better ceramic, the post holes are small (authentic is the same) so I drilled them out to 2.5mm (Same as Twisted Messes RDA). Its a beast and my Authentic is a parts tank since it wouldnt thread together after I put the coils in, the metal bends VERY EASILY. Get the clone, save money and get a better product overall....

I made a small build for now so see what it vapes like but its smaller then I thought it would be...the TFV4 has change my tank view, they all look and feel small now.

For now its a decent vape and when I try some other builds I will have a better grip on how I feel about this tank, hopefully I can re-tap that thread for that one screw and do some crazier builds. Wicking is super easy, Fluff your cotton and put the tips on top of the holes (Not force it in them). Ill compare this to the Aromamizer with the same build when they arrive to see where they each differ and how they size up.
