Personally, I think tanks and mechs just don't mix. Subtanks have barely protruding 510 pins. This is a recipe for disaster unless you are using a fuse.
It sticks on the mod really nicely, very sturdy. Fires excellent. Does not even get warm. I feel good about its safety after multiple days of use. But I don't really know as far as being an expert, just what I've seen and tasted.

Roger that! Those are very nice! They don't give me the same satisfaction of knowing that I still have the ex's clippers. You know the little things she had a melt down over. It just makes me smile with every *clip >>*clip

Those do shine though! Especially on The velocity style decks! Nice find dude!!!
Haha its the little things :)

It's a fine set up, people get worried about mechs and tanks cause some ppl have blown themselves up using tanks without protruding center pins on hybrid top caps and created a dead short violently venting the battery. Pure inexperience and 100% operator error.

Might want to invest in a coil masters kit.. comes with everything needed to pump out some serious coils. Also the firing ohm readers here are AMAZING!

A few things on that...

--The Coil Master ohm meter at the vape shop was the one that was really off. A couple weeks before checking the "accuracy," I had asked the owner if he had one to sell. He told me he would never sell me one.

--A kit might be good if you start with nothing, but a lot of that stuff is available elsewhere for dirt cheap... if you can live without the case. If I bathed in hyperbole, I'd say "Avoid anything with the word 'kit' in it." People mentioned the $4 flush cutters already... I also saw that ubiquitous micro screwdriver set at a dollar store, selling for a single buck. I inherited a pair of those folding scissors and they don't cut cotton well. (This is veering into new-thread territory.)

--I got a Coil Master V3 jig from FT, but to be honest, I don't really like using it. So glad I didn't pay U.S. money for one. I will keep using it though... just with workarounds. It's cool as hell to have.

The USA Ohm Meter is on the way. I avoided buying the firing one because it was quite pricey. Ended up getting the middle-of-the-road version, which you can take apart. Should be here next week.

The case is pretty nice to take to vape meets and stuff and my ohm reader is right on, guess I got lucky and if you price everything out in the kit your only paying and extra 10 bucks and you could argue that's the cost of the case itself. Just my 2 cents.

@skiibo4200 The more I leave the house with these tools, the more I want a case. The tool bag isn't working anymore.

"Use the search function, noob!" - at least a third of the posts on some car forums I've been a part of. Your question was already asked back in 2011 and subsequently answered on page 48,post 241 of a thread primarily concerned with an entirely different subject.

Let's say there's a battery question on VU. There's generally an answer at the end, which is buy Samsung, etc.

Then there's clock oil. People on forums can go back and forth for DAYS on a thread with no consensus, very few facts and a ton of misinformation. Had to go off-forum. It took 3 1/2 hours of solid reading through brass/viscosity tests to find a legitimate clock oil for pivots. The end result? Synthetic motor oil.

^^^^^that right there!!!!!!!
Wish those were out when I started building. So much easier than getting vape tools from walmart cosmetics.

Or telling your wife... Sure...we can replace all your jewelry tools this year... And helping yourself to her old ones.

Wifes' a silversmith. They're nice tools :) but expensive

Thank you, you are a fine community for having the patience to explain all of these things which are likely very basic and obvious to you, therefore are probably repeated over and over to users such as myself. To me though, these are new and confusing, so you have done me a great service which I greatly appreciate. Thanks.
I am new to the forum too and can tell you that the people here are really nice, patient and very knowledgeable!
I have tried to join other forums just for more interaction with people due to debilitating chronic pain which keeps me at home unless I'm working. This is the first place I have come across where people actually respond! Since I'm still new to vaping, I do read a lot of the subforums to keep learning and I try to participate in the contests..not so much to win..it's just fun to participate and see what other users post! Good luck and welcome!

My name is Tony.
I have just bought the following setup

1 x AUTHENTIC Bandit Stainless Steel Mod by ISM Vapes

http://www.vaporkings.com/AUTHENTIC-Bandit-Stainless-Steel-Mod-by-ISM-Vapes-p/ism-bandit.htm

2 x BATTERY-18650-RED-1600 AW Orange 18650 3.7v 1600mAh LiMN rechargeable battery

1 x CHARGER-XTAR-VC2PLUS XTAR VC2 Plus Master Charger

1 x SUBTANK-PLUS-KIT Kanger SubTank PLUS Kit

5 x SUBTANK-COIL-0.5 Kanger SubTank Atomizer Coil - 0.5 ohms

Before this I had a vision spinner with a pro tank... Lol. I'm hoping that someone, anyone, could advise me as to wether or not this is a safe setup. Like I've heard that this stuff can be dangerous and I have NO idea how to check wether or not this set up is dangerous or safe. I use all of this together as one kit. Thanks.

Love vaping and look forward to being a member of this forum and getting to know people here.
Get better batteries & you'll be fine...Oh yeah before building your first coil please learn Ohm's Law...Thanks

This 100%
The mod just holds the battery, the atty to produce the vapor, the true HEART and soul is the battery and knowing it well.

Ohm's law is not a rule, it is a law. Granted not a legal law but a law that is not to be broken, if you do the chances of earning an award is issued by Darwin.

What's wrong with these batteries though? Everywhere I've looked they have fantastic reviews.

http://www.vaporkings.com/AW-Orange-18650-3-7v-1600mAh-LiMN-battery-p/battery-18650-red-1600.htm

There's a link for those who don't know what battery I'm talking about.

I have two, I use one while I charge the other, then vice versa.

Can anyone list pros and cons for this battery versus other batteries? Why is everyone saying these batteries suck if they have good reviews?

Thanks in advance for any info, it all helps!!

First off 1600mah is low and considered cheap to most ppl. Second it peaks out at 26amps.
Third they cost more then some of the best battery's on the market..
Take this guy for example LG HG2
3000mah just about twice as much. 35amp peak 60 amp for 3 seconds and costs less like 7 or 8 bucks.

Well it says in e description that these batteries I got are suited for sub ohm so I'm assuming they are safe until I get a stat reader thingy majiggy

Edit:

New question. My atomizer seems to be stuck on my mod. I may have screwed it into the threads to far/hard. Any tips for getting it loose without damage to my hands or the device?

Youtube Scottish roll.
Tried the Scottish roll and at first I did not think it would make much difference since I always fluffed it and removed the top. But I will say this the stretching to thin it out did make a huge difference. Thanks!

What does that mean?

We are being lied to. Constantly.

--Batteries are miracle sticks.
--Vaping is dangerous.
--Vaping is completely safe.
--I'm posting this survey for my own personal use.
--We have the best juices in the business.
--Oh yeah, that's a great mod. It's what everybody in the shop uses.
--If you like us on Facebook, you'll get a free tank.
--This will completely transform the way you make coils.
--This is the most accurate product on the market.

1. A 20 amp battery is safe to subcommittee down to 0.25 resistance or so, but don't build stupid-sub-ohm with one.

2. Stuck tank? Try sticking your mod in the freezer for a half hour. Seriously.

Get a mouse pad and use the rubber side of it to get grip on the mod and attomizer, if this doesn't work you can gently use the mouse pad rubber side on the mod and use pliers on the mouse pad GENTLY, but use pliers as a last resort if done correctly no damage will be done and I've got many hybrid caps off my addys using pliers and a mouse pad.
Also shamwows work but I wasn't lucky enough to get the 19.99$ TV special.

if you dont have a mousepad, a rubberband, or even dishwashing gloves would also work
I keep a large thick rubberband in my attybox for stuck attys.

Finger tight is fine don't wrench it down too hard it's an atomizer not a spaceship.
It happens. Is it bad if one of my batteries hit 0%? It charged back up fine, but someone said it was bad if it hit completely empty. Anyone know the reason why it's bad for the battery to hit 0%? I'm sorry I've asked so many questions but I figured one thread with many questions is both less annoying and more factual for future users who may have the same questions.

It happens.
Yeah I catch myself doing it all too often which is natures way of telling me to put down what I'm doing and take a nap.
Worse is when my wife catches me doing it.She'll chime in with the usual "Didn't you say finger tight is fine" comment then roll her eyes and ask me if I've eaten yet...Sigh.

I know you are saying you are noob, the first thing I would recommend is going to http://www.steam-engine.org/ohm.asp or http://www.ohmslawcalculator.com/ohms-law-calculator and learning the safe limits on your device. Remember with a mech mod you have no protection but yourself.

Thanks for posting this. I'm using a regulated mod but it was still nice to double check the amp rating on my battery in comparison to how I'm using it. It says it discharges at 20A but through the calculations I did, I'm only pulling at 11A so that's good. :D

Hey guys. I decided to buy some kenthal 26 gauge wire and try my hand at my kanger sub tank rta coil. I did a very standard coil with 5 loops. I used the cotton trick from the video earlier in this thread. One thing I must stress to noobs, MAKE SURE TE COTTON COVERS THE LIL HOLES THAT LET THE LIQUID IN. it took me four tries before I found a video that stated this tip, but once I did that, I must say, I thoroughly enjoy this set up much more than the disposable coils. Just thought I'd say that all. Thanks.

I would say it is, but definitely get a Ohm reader as suggested-when you are new, you will be surprised how far out your coils can be. If they was far out in the lower direction-that build that should be safe, could well not be.

But at 0.5, you are not straining those batteries.

I do suggest, again as others have, to go with brand name batteries, such as Samsung, LG, Etc, a pretty standard battery is the 25R-the abuse that can take is insane looking at the datasheet.

Plus, they are generally cheaper :).

Just be careful with the RDA, get an Ohmmeter, as with a mech, there is no protection-it is essentially a battery holder that completes a circuit when you press fire. (Or cause a short-ALWAYS make sure your battery cover is intact and there is no shorts going on in your RDA).

i personnally think most grand brand set ups are safe, as long as not the less known and inferior brands
