Setting of Uwell Crown in TC mode

Please help!!! Could anyone tell me what's the ideal setting for the Uwell Crown tank using its SS 0.25 ohm coil? I want to use this tank on the Wismec Reuleaux DNA200 and the RX200. At the moment I have it on the RX200 @66.6 watts 480F but it's a little too warm and guzzles a lot of juice. At lower wattage, I don't get the vapor and at lower temp, it won't fire (temp protected) also I tried same setting on the DNA200 but it won't let me fire at all (temp protected).

I run my Crown on my Evic VTC Mini, have it set to 550f at 40W. The 40W gives it a nice steady ramp up, and the 550f gives a nice ceiling for the mod to try and reach (It heats up just fast enough to get a nice dense, flavorful, smooth vape without ever quite hitting 550f before I'm done vaping, so it never gets hot) This seems to be the perfect settings for mine (although it's all subjective) and I've fiddled around quite a bit trying out everything, and I keep coming back to these settings, they just work flawlessly for me.

It sounds like an iffy coil head. The Crown is known to have some heads that work perfectly and others that simply don't. I set mine to 40 watts and 460º, but I prefer a cool vape.

I set my evic at 40 watts also, and vary the temp according to my juice. Right now it's set to 480F. Interestingly, I have a .15 coil on right now, and had to use TC Ni mode to get it to fire. Is that one nickel with no SS?

On both my RX200 and my Cuboid, I've set a TCR (for M2) at 0580. I have my Crown coil locked in at .17ohms and running it at 440F with 40watts. It's somewhere between a cool to a modestly warm vape, but it's sufficient for my taste and I can't tell much difference in performance between those 2 mod's with the same settings.

I feel like the Crown doesn't really start hitting till 70w.

The 0.15ohm coils that come with the tank are Ni200, the SS are the 0.25 and the 0.5 coils.

([[[None of the Crown coils are rated for that high a wattage in power mode, and in Temp mode, I can't fathom how you have it at 70W it's hitting Temp Protect immediately and pulsing your coils the entire time like that, and you'll burn them out alot faster like that......]]])
Correction: I was getting my Crown coils and Cubis coils mixed up; disregard first part of statement

In TC, wattage is equivalent to ramp up time. The higher the wattage, the faster the ramp up, but the less run time on the coils. Once Temp Protect is hit, it pulses power to the coil (turns them on and off repeatedly). The longer the coils stay in the "ramp" the smoother and more consistent the flavor and vapor production will be, because the coils will be under constant load, no wavering power.

I only run in TC mode. I run my coils at 75-95w, 450-525f depending on the juice. I get at least 2-3 weeks out of a coil.

I tried raising temp up to 550F and even as low as 50.0W, it still say temp protection on my DNA200.
Edit: and the vapor is next to nothing!

Which coil are you referring to? .25 or .5? I use my .25 coil at around 550 and 65 watts in TC mode. I only use the .5's in wattage mode and run those at 50-55 watts. I will say that other than my Kanger Subtanks, I've had the most bum coils from crown, especially in the .25 variety.

I use both at those wattages with no problems at all. Email Uwell about the bad coils and they will replace them. A bad batch went out and they know about it.

What do you mean none of the crown coils are rated for that? Crown coils are rated for above 70 watts. Even states it on the coils.....

.5 to 80w and .25 to 125w

Even though the .25 is rated 80-120 watts, I've never vaped it near 80. I find it perfectly acceptable from 40-60, personally. My juice seems to burn above that.

something that we might forget is the crown SS heads have Ni legs which can throw off SS TC. you might have better luck in Ni mode.

Thanks to you all for your input. I've decided to go back to my old X CUBE II, use tc on ss, set it at 460F at normal. Everything is fine and dandy now. But, I'm gonna have to go back to the DNA200 and RX200 and try it again soon.

I'm still having trouble with my Uwell Crown. Or is it the mod? It works fine with my old X CUBE II, but the ohm came out wrong on both Wismec Reuleauxs. The DNA200 won't even let me vape.

Right now I only have 1 SS coil head, I just ordered 2 boxes of spare coils (8 coil heads in total) so I really want this to work. I also ordered 2 rolls of SS316L wires, so I might try that when they arrive.

I think you will have much better luck with your new coil heads. Lots of people have had one or two coils that simply refused to cooperate with TC. Once you get your coils in you'll be surprised at how well a good head works. It sucks to have a bad experience with your very first coil, but the Crown really is a terrific tank. I just wish the coils were a little more reliable.

Thanks, I'll try a new coil soon as they come in which should be Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.
Like I said, it works really well now on the X XUBE II but not on the Wismec DNA200 or RX200!!!
BTW, off the topic, is that a Gibson Les Paul?

I have the same problem as you with the Crown mated with the RX200, Evic Mini and the Reuleaux DNA200 when trying to use TC with the SS coils. My Herk Plus and OBS work perfectly with SS coils in TC mode but I have a hard time getting the Crown to even fire, goes immediately into TC and no vape.

I tried 3 different coils and whatever else I could think of to get it to work and just gave up. The Crown is a great tank in power mode for me with the SS coils, I am guessing it is the mods listed that won't run it in TC mode.

I am a little relieved it is not just me, hopefully there is a solution.

I did try the SS TC mode on the Crown with the RX200 before updating the firmware so that's not the problem.

It is, but that's just artwork, not a photo. I'd love to have a Les Paul. I do have a Michael Kelly which is modeled after a Les and plays very well.

That's pretty strange. I've used prebuilt Crown coils is TC mode on two VTC Minis, a Wisemec Pressa 75, and a Cuboid without much issue. I have noticed that the .5 ohm heads seem to work better in temp control than the .25 ohm heads. Another option is the RBA. It can be tricky to wick at first and isn't reliable to use with the top fill, but it's always rock solid in TC mode with a spaced SS coil.

In power mode the .25 ohm coils are king. With temp control it's the .5 ohm coils and RBA that rule the roost.

I just put my Crown with .25 SS coil on my RX200 and the TC comes on immediately, no vape. The odd thing is I tried it in Ni mode at 220 deg, 40 watts and it works fine, vaped the coil dry with no dry hits.

I did try it with a .5 ohm coil and got the same results trying SS TC, it just won't work for me. I got coils from 2 different reputable dealers and of course the coils it came with and none of them work for me in SS TC.

I am thinking there must just be variances in coil batches, it works for some and not for others. It is just odd that my Herk Plus and OBS both work perfectly in SS TC but the Crown won't after trying 3 different coils.

So, like I said, I guess I'm gonna have to wait for the spare coils and wire then. And at the moment, it's working fine in SS TC Mode on X CUBE II.

Thanks, and I was fumbling with only 110 in tcr. But now it's fine at 75 watts 530 F. And oops, I forgot the needle trick, will do that next time I change new coil.

I'm running a rx200 with a Crown on it 2.5 ohm SS coil in SS mode at 55 watts @ 500F with no issues. Just picked up that rig today. Have not had to go to the TCR mode. But I do have to use TCR on my first RX200 with all my tanks and different coil/pill selections.. It's all China Crap. Luck of the draw. Kind of like the silicon lottery concerning computer cpus and how they overclock.

What CSV file did you use, in order to setup your profile for the Crown? With the Reuleaux DNA200 attached via USB to my PC, I tweaked my profile in Escribe utilizing the Device Monitor.
On my RX200, I'm using the same settings as I have on my DNA200.

CSV is a computer term that stands for "comma separated values". I downloaded some CSV files I found on Evolve's forum (http://evolvapor.forumchitchat.com), and tried those in my profiles. In addition, I tweaked the profiles by connecting my mod to my labtop running the Escribe SW, and utilizing it's Device Monitor.

What is your TCR setting. Temperature control vaping has EVERYTHING to do with the TCR. You can have a great mod, perfect coil, and prefer temp and wattage. If the TCR values isnt set in the correct range you will not vape properly. It's like having a Ferrari with no ECM

Thank yoy for being the first person to actually answer the question being asked. TCR 165 is the answer. Wattage and Temp can be tweaked. The TCR value is what temp vaping is all about for advanced mods

Thank you all, I did not know that we could use it in Nickel mode. That helped me out a lot. Before on stainless steel I was having same problem as original posters. I switched to Nickel and it was a ton better I could dial it down to what I was using on my previous eleaff settings of 450 degrees F and about 50-60 watts with excellent flavor and vapor. I love forums like this :)

i've been runing 0.25ss dual uwell crown coil on NI temp controll because i tought it was ni200 inside when i bought tank lol. it was working 14 days till first burnt taste. i cleaned it and now using again working like charm..

I heard TCR 120 is an option; keep in mind the leads on the Uwell Crown 3 SS coils are actually nichrome and not SS themselves, which could very well effect overall performance in TC/TCR modes.
