This isn't about you them or me.... It's a generational trend. Your fear of any human with girl parts definitely needs to be worked on... Perhaps professionally.
And working hard physical labor may not be a professional requirement, but, I don't trust any grown man that doesn't know what a good sweat from hard work is like. The things it teaches you are far beyond anything any class taught by anyone can teach.
Education is not just a classroom exercise. The fact that so many younger people don't see that is a biproduct of the failure of my generation to teach it.

I don't fear every girl with girl parts. I just meant when a girl is throwing herself at me.. I think to myself.. hmm.. this girl has probably done this 100 times and it's probably worked 99 times.. Do I wanna knock around with that? I like a challenge.

I fear of every girl that throws herself at me most likely has herpes or chlamydia lol. And working hard and sweating is definitely a good thing as well as knowing what it's like to do that for a living.. buuut.. unfortunately times are changing and hard labour isn't always a requirement these days. So many people make something of themselves from their own homes.. which is great, but I also feel like it can put a damper on the jobs that need to be worked by individuals that are actually very important. And about the socializing part.. my brother and sister are both very introverted. Never leave their comfort zones.. that's where I was completely different. I always have this need to be socializing with people.. and I don't mean on Facebook or instagram. I like going out and meeting and chatting with people.. especially women as long as they give me a challenge lol. But you're right, it's something that's not common in this generation.

And you're false on the second part also. I personally sweat all day. My job is dirty and hard. But the recent generation has relied more on technology to make it , but it's not the fault of that the way that people are nowadays. It's the fact that everything today has to be "politically correct." This PC thing has been going on for years and years, but slowly getting more drastic and forming the Monster it has now where everyone needs a bubble and a safe place to go to when their feelings are hurt.

My viewpoint on it is simply this: an adult is an adult. We're old enough, developed, and consious enough to make decisions about our own body and preferences. If we don't mind second hand vapor, we won't worry about being in those areas. A child cannot make an educated decision on this themselves, and it shouldn't be done for them. Vaping in front of your kid and making a decision to put them in a certain position/environment when they're unable to make a completely "right for them" or educated decision for themselves is just about the most "un-american" thing you can do.

Also, do these vapors stick to furniture such as couches, beddings, etc?

I don't think this has been covered yet.

Yes. It gets every-freaking-where. Granted, it's not too bad in the grand scheme of things. But after eight months of both of us vaping in the house, I'm starting to wonder what will happen when we move out at some point, and my landlord wants to put another coat of cheap paint on the walls. (Versus adding a pre-coat with a primer.)

The windows and metal blinds have a coating on them. Some of the horizonal places where dust settles now has a different kind of dust... it's just a little... um... stronger. I just tried air-dusting the buildup on my computer air intake screen, and some of it didn't come off. Think of it like what happens to your kitchen cabinets if you cook a lot, but without the tough grease.

All that said, I'm absolutely not worried about fabrics, like the sofa or the area rugs. Doesn't seem that it will be that kind of issue. And our dog does way more "damage" with the dirt he tracks in, and the shedding. (We do a lot of laundry.)

Admittedly, there are quite a few areas where you can't even tell vaping occurred at all. The computer screen directly in front of me, and the other rooms, for example.

1:2:3 ratio of rubbing alcohol:vinegar:water. Cleans the windows great.

Bubble Wrapping everyone will just make it easier for the next new Bacteria to drop mankind like Mice and Mustard Gas. I think everyone should just worry about themselves...they've got enough of they're own issues to worry about anyone else.
My parents subscribed to the George Carlin theory of immune system boosters and sent me to go catch crawdads in the sewer when I was a kid...

I feel a long wall'o'text coming on - apologies if you've been quoted here and most of this doesn't apply to you...lots of shit to cover.

I've been through all that & lived a life most adults haven't. I'm more mature than you think. I'm much younger than my siblings yet people always think I'm the oldest. You can't stop me from caring about people. Not fearing what they think.. but having empathy.

I thought the same thing once. Started working at 12, started my first company at 16, bought my first house at 18 and was bringing in six figures by 19. Owned 2 houses and made my first million at 20. By 24 I was the fastest-promoted junior executive in the history of a $15 billion regional banking conglomerate and had 60 people working under me in 7 offices across California, which I was frequently traversing via business-class jet and company-paid Marriott to survey. That didn't put me through life.

By 28, the company had been forced out of business by the FDIC, I'd been downsized and had a wife and stepdaughter to take care of with nothing down the road but 3 months' severance pay and a 401(k) I'd end up paying dearly to cash in ahead of its time. I had to fight without tools to rebuild my family's real estate company that the Great Recession left in a shambles, learning (literally) to pick up a hammer, drill, and screwdriver and fight my way through the trenches where there were guys 10 years younger with more experience and smarts than me.

When I was 22, I was convinced my hard work and success defined me as a man. At 33, I've learned that surviving failure through hard work to get back what you've lost does much, much more for the character than an early and easy route to the top ever could. It's impossible for me now to imagine what a naive clown I was - perhaps you'll get there, perhaps you never will. But don't discount those of us who've lived more life than you have - we really have seen more than you, and the sooner you realize that the sooner you'll become one of us who respects the fact that none of us will ever know it all.
When I was 17 my dad used to tell me why don't you leave now while you still know everything. Lol

Mine told me that all the time - then I went out and rented an apartment with my girlfriend who was 19 and old enough to sign a lease, and he grounded me until my 18th birthday. I left his house at 7 a.m. that day and didn't take his calls for 3 months. :D
To the op.

I vape in my car and my home with my children. In the car I crack the window, blow it straight out the window (we never smoked in the car with the kids) and it never builds up on my windshield. I sit in the same room as my children and vape, I blow it towards the wall or floor.

If someone is asshole enough to blow smoke, vape, or anything else straight in someone's face child or not, they don't deserve respect back imo because that's disrespect to the max.

And as an aside with kids and safety, from day one with the cig alikes, we told our kids very firmly they were never ever to touch, look at, even smell our vapes or equipment or anything else we may have left out. They were 2&3 at the time and you know? To this day they never ever have touched them. Even when their chores include cleaning off a table or something with a pv on it, they will tell me to move it so they can clean.

I never had to tell them twice not to touch it because I warned them it was extremely dangerous for children and would make them so sick they'd have to go to the hospital. Maybe I'm an ass for unnecessarily scaring them but it worked and we've never once had an issue
I've got to admit I've been the same way - I'll vape in the general vicinity of my daughter, but I'll never blow a cloud at/near her. And I've warned her how dangerous my and Mom's gear can be - she's done the same thing with the "Dad, I went to clear the table but your vape is there and I know I can't touch it." I think she understands I'm overstating things a bit, but I appreciate that she respects my not wanting her near the stuff. And we both smoked until she was almost nine, so she definitely appreciates that we're no longer going outside and asking her to stay a few steps away from us while we puff.

One of the fringe benefits of work (aside from being a real estate/mortgage broker and rental property site manager I'm also a semi-relevant local journalist) is being bombarded by young women fresh out of j-school asking to take me out for coffee or cocktails! Keep it up - just make sure you've got an angle as to how you can help your targets, because no amount of schmoozing is going to get me as a hard-news writer to publish a promo piece for your client's awesome new eBay-for-teddy-bears website.

I say it is-but I respect parents wishes-my cousin for instance has no issue of me vaping with her 7 year old in the room, but my friend does not like me vaping in his house due to his Children-I respect that, he is an intelligent man and knows there is minimal risk, but he lost his daughter at 2 years old to a disorder-so understand his concern.

I think really, just be thoughtful. If people don't mind, then vape, I don't sit right next to my 7 year old second cousin and blow vapour his way for example, I vape in the same room, but away from him.

And if someone doesn't want you vaping in front of their kids, respect that too.

I know this post is aged, but if I'm going to burn 20 minutes reading it, I'm going to burn 10 responding.

Somehow, "is it safe" evolved into "is it ethical" then that one guy literally exploded on that other guy and then it was about STD's and VD's...

To much of most people's chagrin, I'm in the "I don't vape where I can't smoke" camp. Not because I'm cow towing to the feelings of others, I just don't have the time or the patience to explain to the uneducated the difference between the two.

I mean YOU know that YOU'RE vaping. YOU'VE done YOUR research, and YOU know it's relatively safe. But Teddy Tattletale only knows that you put this hunk of metal and glass to your mouth and "smoke" came out. And a lot of it.

I know you have rights and most of us don't want to sit in a fog of second-hand smoke in the smoking section and vape, but the sad truth is, to society, you're still smoking but in a totally different way. And society will have you sitting in HR or talking to a CPS rep on the chemical differences of smoking and vaping. And I choose not to have to deal with explanations.

I mean 90% of the people here proclaim that if you don't/didn't smoke, then you shouldn't vape. Well, if it's so friggin' safe, why not?

About doing it in the presence of kids. Is it safe? Probably. Should I? Probably not. Kids are more impressionable these days than they ever were 20 years ago. Even if you're not turning their lungs into construction paper, don't vape in front of them then be surprised if they want a mod for their 9th birthday. "But dad, it's not smoking and it's safe."

So while vaping can be considered "95% safer" than smoking, it's still unpleasant to some people. And if you choose not to respect that "just because", then you're no different than a smoker. If I'm vaping in the presence of my kids and they are clearly distressed, I'm vaping outside or putting it away.

There. End noobie rant.

I won't vape around my daughter. I don't worry about any really health dangers, but I definitely don't want to glamorize vaping to her. Yes I stopped smoking and switched to a more healthy form of nic ingestion. Still, she looks up to me and doesn't need to see her daddy vaping. We are supposed to set the best example possible for our children. I don't feel vaping in front of kids sets the bar very high.

I agree. It seems like everyone agrees that while it may be relatively harmless from an exposure standpoint, it is best not to glamorize vaping to kids. We know the data when it comes to smoking. Kids with parents or older siblings who smoke have a higher risk of smoking. While vaping is not smoking, it does stand to reason that if kids see parents or older siblings vaping they may be more likely to want to try it.

Hi! I just posted in another thread about my setup, but I have a question that doesn't seem appropriate in that thread. So is it safe to vape with kids around?

I have a juice that has a low nicotine content and I'm wondering if the exhaled vape is safe with kids around the house. Mainly, I'm worried that the exhaled vape still contains traces of nicotine that my son my inhale?

Also, do these vapors stick to furniture such as couches, beddings, etc?

Yes, unflavoured vapour produced at low power levels is completely safe for humans and there is no reason to fear trace amounts of food flavourings if they have been added.

The stuff coming out of vapourizers is almost identical to theatrical fog or, at least, when compared to the glycol-based theatrical fog that has been in widespread use since 1979.

Vapour is more than 95% a blend of glycerin and propylene glycol. Glycerin is a known moisturizer and is used in hand creams and shampoos. It has been classified as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) by the FDA for decades. PG is also GRAS and was registered with the FDA in 1950, "for use in hospitals as air disinfectants."

If you don't want skin as smooth as a baby's bottom and a sanitary living space then the vapour can be removed from the air completely by a standard cold-plate dehumidifier.

Nicotine is about as dangerous as caffeine as Professor Bernd Mayer wrote, "Nicotine and caffeine [...] can be compared as consumer products: both have mild adverse effects and may induce moderate dependence." Coffee, tea, and some types of soft drinks are about as dangerous as vape fog with nicotine.

While the dangers of second hand electronic cigarette vapor is almost non-existant compared to that of traditional tobacco smoke, you should still be conscious and courteous to those around you. You do on the other hand always want to keep your e-juice out of reach of children.

I completely agree here, about being Courteous to others when vaping.

I have seen a lot of vapers round here with no care which way their vapour is blowing, and going in peoples faces ETC.
If I am waiting for a bus, or somewhere similar, I make sure I stand so the wind won't blow vapour at everyone waiting.

Most people comment how nice it smells, but I can understand people not wanting huge clouds in their faces. Sometimes it does go other peoples way though accidentally, I give a quick apology when that happens.

It has been stated on this thread many times that we shouldn't vape in front of our children so that we don't set a bad example.
It has been clearly stated that we should step outside our houses to vape, just as many of us did when we smoked. It's been stated that children are impressionable and will want to mimic us by vaping as well. One person even said that children are more impressionable today than they were 20 years ago. What utter bullshit all of that is.

Stating the above is really selling kids out to basically being stupid. I never smoked in my house or car, even when driving alone. Yet my kids saw me smoke all the time when outside. So, following the logic above, that means they are less likely to smoke because daddy only smokes outside? Really? That is exactly what is being implied. My youngest son really wanted to try smoking when he was 9. He wanted fake cigarettes, he would hold things and mimic smoking and would ask me questions. That's when I knew it was time to quit.

So, saying that vaping in front of your kids will lead them to vaping, or any other bad behaviour, but that it won't happen if we don't do it in front of them is just stupid. Your kids would have to be complete fucking idiots not to know that you do vape. You think hiding it from them instills something positive in them? "Oh, daddy is vaping on the porch again. That must mean it's bad and I shouldn't do it. If it was good then he'd vape in front of me. Gee, thanks dad for doing that for me."

Kids are not stupid, but those who don't have them are the only ones who think that. Any parent can tell many stories of kids imitating their parents. If you don't want your kids to vape, then don't vape at all. If you don't want your kids to drink, then don't drink. If you don't want your kids to imitate anything you do, then just don't do it. But that is no guarantee your kids won't do something you didn't do. Not by a fucking long-shot.

Here's my experience in short.

My partner and I smoked for the first 2.5 yrs of 1 child and 1 year of another. We never smoked in the home or car and we're always careful to be sure the smoke wasn't blowing directly in there faces when we were outside... Both our children had a cough periodically on a daily basis.

Since we have ceased smoking and commenced vaping our nicotine the children no longer have this cough. We vape in the home and car with the children, obviously we're not blowing clouds into there faces but they are in the immediate bacon it's of the expelled vapour and are both showing no sighs of detriment.

Net bash me.

I'm not telling anyone to vape around children just pointing out that there's a difference between smoke and vaporise clearly noticeable with my to wonderfully children and I'm so friggen happy me and my girl gave up that stinking killer habit!

And I would rather my kids grow into vapers not smokers, also we both plan to kick the vape habit two because it's a silly little oral fetish and a bowl of grapes or nuts is much more civil.

I vape around my son, but not often. He had no clue I smoked cigs because I rarely did it. only at night, after drinking a few beers and he was fast asleep by then. He questioned the vape stuff when I started with the mark10's. I was up front and honest with him and told him that these are help me kick away the cigs... We both now "fake cough" when we catch a whiff of someone's cig while walking by them. haha

Though vaping is less harmful against smoking but it's not safer for the kids. They are very sensitive about this so I'll suggest to not vaping with kids around.

May be kids will copy your behavior when you smoked. So, you'd better not to smoke if you stay with your child.

Not sure if this is still a rational thread, but what the hell...

I sincerely believe the health risk of secondhand vapor is negligible at worst. Where children are concerned the moral question would seem to be the bigger issue.

My son is now grown, but we did smoke in the house and car with him around when he was young. This was in the early '90s, when frowning upon things like that was juuusssst coming into vogue, though there were no laws preventing us from doing it. Now, as far as I know, it is illegal for me to smoke, and I assume this also applies to vaping, with my underage nephew in the car....

But I choose to do so anyway. I do not hide that I'm a vaper from anyone, least of all from my niece and nephew, who I spend a lot of time with. I don't know how I'd manage to hide it from them even if I wanted to, but I think that would just make me look foolish in their eyes. (These) children are not stupid, in fact my nephew knows all the places where his mother hides her cigarettes. :) I practice discretion and courtesy when I vape, and I do not promote it to the kids in my life. What else should I be doing?

And even if it were somehow possible, what would be the benefit of concealing it? Every time we're out driving my nephew points out vapor plumes pouring out the windows of cars at the red lights. It's everywhere.
